Yeah, the MMC molds all have their problems. Especially Cyclops who is just a biiiiiiiit fragile... in a lot of places. Would really love a commander or leader version. (Or a re-engineered MMC version but I dont think the originals sold particularly great)

The reason Optimus looks so stubby is hes missing his full coal car. for some reason, probably budget, they chose not to include it. We'll probably get a third party version. It didn't contribute to the bot mode of the MMC version either so not a huge loss except aesthetically.

The tender is meant to be the period-appropriate equivalent of his trailer. That's why it doesn't contribute to his robot mode.

Pretty weird that HoS OP doesn't come with his tender. Without it, the train looks Chibi and incomplete for OP's train mode. Evan said the line is a Pulse exclusive so what's stopping them? It'd make the train mode much cooler.

I guess Hasbro's testing the water with these initial figures for the new "Timelines" concept and instead of making a big splash out of the gate they're more concern at costs. Granted, the tender doesn't do much, so I guess I can see the reason.

I'll get them regardless. Honestly haven't been this excited for a new capsule line for a long while.

I guess it's because a Deluxe budget doesn't allow room for a trailer.

I bet some 3P smart-ass like D.N.A Design will make the Optimus tender.
Still, even with a tender the traintimus still look like a clown train. The thing should have been a longer vehicle, proportion-wise like Astrotrain. And the colors certainly does not help.

TlDr; The Optimus/screamers set is far weaker than the Megs/Bee set.

Regardless, I'll be getting both. I do hope I'll be able to preorder both without having to be double-charged for shipping.

That's part of the weirdness too. Like I said, the line is a Pulse exclusive, which Hasbro has 100% control over. Doesn't make much sense limiting themselves in only Deluxes. Evan said the same 4 characters will be used over and over and these 4 are traditionally 3 Voyagers and 1 Deluxe. No one asked to throw scale away, especially in this Collectors-focused line (as these won't be seen in retail), did we?

This feels like a golden "shut up and take my money!" moment to up-sell us by including a tender and fixing the figures' scale but Hasbro don't need our money for some reason? Maybe marketing/accounting has no faith in it, but the designers do, so what we see is the compromise?

Yeah, if OP's red is more muted like SSGE WFC OP that'll be slightly better. I'm gonna do my own weathering.

The ones on display at Megacon had darker, possibly metallic, red and blue instead of the bright colors from the renders so the final product should be better.

Incidentally it's been pointed out that Prime's gold parts came from Guido Guidi's earlier draft rather than those used in the comic.

Only interested in Bumblebee, he looks the neatest. Since it's in a 2-pk that means a big pass. Maybe if it goes on sale.

It being an exclusive online two pack makes the chances of that happening lower than usual

This is more of a friendly update for those who were unaware. Hasbro Pulse has put up preorders for several of the latest reveals. The hotter one would be the Pulse exclusive Hearts of Steel 2 pack featuring Optimus Prime and Starscream. It is $59.99 for 2 deluxe sized toys. They also have the Monster Hunter crossover figure Silver Rathalos Prime for $54.99. This is also a deluxe sized figure as it is a very heavy retool of Kingdome Airazor. The third preorder we wanted to bring to your attention was Transformers MPG-16 Nucleon Quest Super Convoy which is a redeco of MPG Super Ginrai. It is $254.99 USD.

Only the Optimus/Screamers pack is up for preorder. Does that mean that the Megs/Bee pack is sold out?

That's pretty random to not put up both at the same time.

And I bet that if they do and I preorder both, they will charge both as separate orders and charge shipping twice.
Gotta push those Premium memberships, eh?

The second set hasn't gone up yet, indeed. It's probably a case where the first set is like Wave 1 of the line and the second set is like Wave 2.

No stock photography yet, no. All that's been shown of the second set were the two individual figures on display at MegaCon. They weren't even shown in the panel's slideshow presentation. Evan simply mentioned them, verbally.

That's what I thought. They're definitely months away from being fully revealed if the first set isn't even coming until July.
