The 2007 Movie Made You A TF Fan?

Postby Bumbled » Sat Sep 08, 2007 4:48 am

I know some of you here at Seibertron, became huge fans of TF because of the 2007 Movie. I am certainly one of those people, but I did see them in Armada for the first time when I was 9 or 10 or something.

Anyway, so who here became a fan because of the 2007 Movie?

Yo, yo, yo! Sup people! Ahem. I meant yeah, you know, me, one of those cool dudes who became a HUGE Transformers fan after watching the 2007 flick.

I think it is cool because it modernise all the characters of '86. You know? All the G1 characters? Optimus Prime, Ironhide (heck, someone said that his '86 look looks ugly), Jazz, etc.

I was a fan when I was a kid, *back in 86* but the movie's what made me start collecting them again.

To me the movie presented them in a new light. It was like a Sci-Fi/Horror movie. Barricade was scary, Blackout was awesome. It was alot more like, "wow, this is what it would be like if it REALLY happened."

There was alot of death in that movie that people don't talk about too much. Not counting what Blackout did to the base or Scorinok did in the desert. Just the end battle alone would have killed hundreds if not thousands.

Then there's BoneCrusher ripping through a bus, etc.

Definetely sci-fi/horror in my book.

4-5 of my friends/relatives had no connection with Transformers and they loved the movie :D people I thought wouldn't! I think a few of them now want a Bumblebee transformer hehe.
Some liked it for the CG, some for the taste in comedy, most for the Transformers themselves.

Malikon - A horror genre? Dude, there is no gore/blood in the movie, therefore it is, well, capable of being organized under the scary movie genre, not horror. Sure, it is terrifying to see Megatron flicking away that human ("Ugh, disgusting.") when he fell, but no blood or gore was seen so it was not that terrifying.

CJH - Heh, comedy, they put this into lots of movies nowadays, kinda ruin the movie, IMHO. :P

All my life baby! I was a year old when I started watching TF reruns with my older brother. Then there was Beast Wars/Machines, and then the anime Transformers.

But me and my bro had a talk a while back that brough up Transformers and at the time I didn't remember them at all so did some research and found Seibertron...what resulted is what you see before you. lol

there's hardly any blood or gore in the first Halloween movie, and it's also considered a horror movie.

It's a shame so many people think you need blood and gore to 'be' a horror movie. Not true, suspense and drama when done well can create a horrific mood. I've seen many 'gory' movies I didn't find scary at all.

When Barricade is pushing Sam while in alt mode, myself and other people I've talked to were on the edge of thier seat. Imagine looking into the grill of a cop car that keeps coming at you. That alone is horrifying. Then imagine the spiky lights come out, and suddenly you're staring at a 15-20 foot robot that's screaming at you and throwing you around.

Yeah, that's not horrifying at all. 8-| I dare anyone to be in that exact situation *if it were possible* that Sam was in and not sh*t your pants.

Just because you don't see flying, flaming body parts go sailing through the air when BoneCrusher hit the bus, doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's called using your imagination. It's what made Hitchcock so famous. Sometimes what you don't see, but you know is happening is more frightening then if you 'had' seen it.

But whatever, to me it's a sci-fi/horror movie. And a great one at that.

NOMB? ???
Nothing to do with me? ???

Don't know what you mean by either of them.

and I put, "if it REALLY happened" in my post, so saying "Fictional?" was pointless.

anyway my point was, in most movies/stories you put yourself into the position of the lead character, in this case Sam. So, if it were real, Sams scene with Barricade would be terrifying and horrifying. Not to mention when Barricade throws him into the windshield of the car, it would have killed him.

I really don't know why you decided to qoute my post. I view it as a horror/sci-fi/action movie. If you don't see the horror in it, that's fine, but I do.

Wow, dude's gotto chill. lol

Firstly, None of My Business?

Secondly, I quote it because I love it, yeah... okay, sorry, just trying with rhyming. Eh? That rhymed, too.

Thirdly, well, IMHO, I would classify the scene of Barricade chasing Sam Witwicky under the genre of action. I mean, having a heart-pounding scene of Barricade chasing a teenage, young boy would seem "terrifying", but just because it is "terrifying", that does not mean it could be compared to other horror films such as "A Nightmore In Elm Street" or "Friday The 13th", those films that are filled with sudden surprises that makes you jump out of the seat and scream. Barricade, on the other hand, made that scene looked like it is Too Fast Too Furious with transforming cars. lol

ugh, this is such a dumb argument. Both arguing over a movie we love.

Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th are Slasher movies, not Horror movies. Much like Hostel and The Hills have Eyes remake. Not horror, just Gore films. Or as they're being called lately Porn/Torture movies.

Poltergiest-no blood-Horror movie
The Changeling-no blood-Horror movie
Halloween-no blood-Horror movie
there's tons of no blood horror movies.

that's basically all I'm trying to get through to you, a movie doesn't have to be filled with blood and gore to be horror.

Would I consider The Transformers a pure horror movie? No. But I definitely find horror elements in it.

you don't have to agree, just let it go.

Okay, find, was ths an arguement? I didn't notice. xD

Oh, yeah, one more thing...

Duuudddddee, chiiilllll... Just joshing with ya.

Firstly, I did not say I did not agree with it, it is your opinion, I have my opinion, do not have to get worked up over it.

Secondly, that was my point! Transformers is not classified under the Horror genre! Yeah, though I picture "horror elements" as "jump out at you and scare the hell outta you" type of scenes. Hey, everyone has his own views. :P

Oh no, I wasn't saying I'd classify it as a horror movie, I wouldn't look under HORROR at BlockBuster expecting to find it. I'm sure it's classified as an Action movie. I was just saying that 'I' saw alot of horror elements in it, which is what won me over, got me reinterested, and got me collecting again. I come from the horror side of things, hell my business for years has been nothing but horror related, so of course when I saw what Barricade did to Sam it just struck me as a horrific moment. I know I'd have sh*t my pants if it were happening to me.

And yeah, those other films you were talking about? Horror fans call those Jump Films. Or Cheap Shot Scares. Most often it's someone in a dark enviournment calling out, "helloooooo??" When SUDDENLY a cat jumps out of nowhere screeching, "REOOOWWRR!!"

Good bog I've seen that in at least 20-30 different movies. And hated it every single time. The new Zombie Halloween movie also has a cheap 'jump' scare like that in it. But I digress....

^ Cut it out both of you.

I hardly got into Transformers back then and only watched it when my cousin did. Then came Beast Wars which I really loved and cried when it suddenly dropped off the face of the Earth(stupid network and no internet). That was the year 2000. And I never watched that japanese trilogy(thank god).

Then I saw the Shrek 3 trailer in its jaw dropping awesomeness that I cried all over again!
