The 07 movie got me back into TF's. I remember watching Beast Wars with a friend a few times and thinking, "Yeesh this is stupid, what the hell is this Waspinator guys problem" Then I got really into RID, and then bored by Armada. Since I saw the movie I'm addicted to g1 and pretty much any comic I can get my hands on...Except for Hearts of Steel, that was a dissapointment

Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
Absolutely ridiculous.

IT'S ONLY A MOVIE! GET OVER YOURSELVES AND QUIT FIGHTING ABOUT THE MOVIE! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!

I'm not kidding. Fans are seriously ruining every bit of this entire thing for me. I'm so sick and tired of hearing people whine about how the movie didn't fit their view of the mythos or how the movie was the end all, be all of all movies, etc.

I respect the fact that you have an opinion and that you can make one. I don't agree or respect your opinion. They're like buttholes...everyone has one and they stink.

If Malikon saw horror elements in the film, that's his right. (I don't see it, and obviously many others don't as well...)

It's got action, adventure, science fiction, romance, comedy, drama, etc. It has something for mostly everyone and nothing for some...(but then again, the stick was firmly cemented in place a long while ago.)

If you don't like the movie, but didn't see it, more power to you. Don't spend the money, and don't open your mouth. We don't want to hear it, especially if you don't know what you're talking about.

If you like the movie, more power to you. Spend all the money you want, enjoy the movie, have your say and then shut up and find something else to go on about.

If you saw the movie, and still didn't like it, more power to you. Don't spend anymore money, give your reasons as to why you don't like it, and then shut up and MOVE ON.

Fans: We Suck And We Ruin It For The Rest Of You. (It's the only way we receive joy. Unless we're sucking the life out of it for you, it just ain't worth doin'.)

...I just want to hit people, HARD.

I became a fan of TF big time a month or two before the movie came out. Didn't know much about them, except that I watched BW and knew it was Transformers. I saw the ads for the movie, and I thought it looked like the coolest movie ever made. So I started talking to people on the TF forum on Rotten Tomatoes. I bullsh*tted my way through the conversations, while doing research to learn everything I could about it. Before you knew it I was a huge fan, and started getting the toys and then the comics. I had friends and family over today and they held a mock "Transformers Intervention". It's gotten that bad, I guess.

I've been into Transformers since the age of.. I don't know.. 6? So that's about 10 years. I've slowly and gradually become more TF-nerdy.. and with the release of the movie, it just makes things worse.. I mean better.

Ever since the first Transformer toy was released bY the Japanese, many fans already were crazy about those figurines which you could twist, display and, well, transform. Then there's the '86 animated cartoon based on the franchise, which msde those fans who were already obsessed with the toys, even more obsessive, before the '87 movie came out, which send both factions of the fans (the fans of the toys and the fans of the series) wild with elation. However, as time passes, we get more variety of fans, including Japanese Transformers anime fans, RID fans, Unicron Trilogy fans, and let's not forget the 2007 film fans.

I hope to be a fan of all kind (whether it is the Unicron kind, the RID kind or the Transformers toy kind).

So how come you're still here even after G2, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Beast Machines, KISSPLAYERS...

Seriously, both of you are such drama queens.

G2 - Took a very long break from Transformers
Armada - I took another break, picked up the RID I hadn't got.
Energon - loved it, or rather I loved Superlink.
Cybertron - again really liked the Japanese show and a lot of the figures.
Beast Machines - probably my favorite TF series of all time.
KISSPLAYERS - Absolutely loved it and I'm hoping for more.

I don't think I'm being a drama queen in saying if I don't like something lose interest. I said I almost stopped being a fan. That was because it appeared that once the movie hit all we were going to see was movie merchandise and figures. Luckily I now have Transformers Animated to look forward too and they are still putting out the occasional figure like MP Skywarp to keep me interested in the meantime. Otherwise I would have left the hobby for good.

Yours AK

Geez... Live-Action haters... I guess you would rather a cartoon movie huh? So that they say "Transform" when they are about to Transform and fiction fighting where it sounds like your hitting a tin can... come on... that would never make money and there will be not as much fans as they were now

I liked G2 and I didn't buy anything from Beast Machines onwards, so what? And the Kiss Players are great figures. It's binaltech with a plastic figure, so what?
The fan base got pretty antsy too.

I'm only still a fan because of Classics, Titanium and Animated.

You're exaggerating things, just because I dislike certain aspects of the hobby and prefer others does not make me a drama queen. It's called preference.

I never wanted a live action movie and I really would not have cared if they chose not to do this one.

Seconded. In answer to your question Bumbled, yes I would have preferred an animated movie. I personally believe something as fantastical and unbelievable as a franchise based on giant transforming robots from another planet works better animated/drawn than in live action. Why do you think that was chosen as the format for the original show and movie and every Transformers show after that? Why do you think so many japanese giant robot/mecha shows and movies are animated? Because it works that’s why. I'm not a live action hater, I just feel that some things work well as live action and some don't.

Whether or not they shout "Transform" or sound like saucepans being banged together when the fight doesn't concern me and neither does its popularity so long as it makes enough money and fans to keep the franchise going (something that has been successfully pulled off for over 20 years now without the need for a live action movie). What concerns me is that it is good, that it is well written with characters I feel compelled to feel something about so much so I want to watch it over and over and buy many miniature plastic representations of them to put on my shelves, that is it something I feel proud to be a fan of. This movie didn’t make me feel like that, it made me feel like I was wasting my time, that Transformers really meant nothing and I was a fool to ever thing they did, and embarrassed to be mistaken for a fan of the movie just because I was a known Transformers fan. So I almost quit, fair enough don't you think?

wow. it went from fighting because u love the movie to some crap about not liking it. dude u didnt like it dont go trashin it in a thred asking if it made u a fan. how long will it take for people to stop whining about the movie. there is a good chance that the new animated series thats comin out is gonna be awesome, so forget about the movie and go on if u didnt like it.

Personally, i loved beast wars when it was on and wacthed armada. ithe movie was just the thing that got me back into transformers and made me a bigger fan than ever. i have seen the movie 11 times(bootleg) though it wasnt the same as the first two times i saw it in theaters.

Dispite the bad grammar I think I know what you mean :P . I just saw the thread title and though, nope it did the oposite to me and though I'd share that. That would have been that had someone not decided to call me a 'drama queen' or a 'live action Hater' purely for having an opinion that conflicted with theirs. I was merely explaining/defending myself.

Must be a dedicated fan thing. Its not like all the film figures were bad though. And its not like they'd dedicate the whole line to the film.

BTW when you said you liked Kissplayers I'm assuming its just the figures?

Takara's better off continuing with the Binaltech line rather than switching to Binaltech Asterisk followed by KISS Players.

Well that all depend on you definition of bad. Design-wise they were prety well engineered but the asthetic design was pretty unattractive to me, plus the movie provided me with little or no characterisation to help me get over the ugly designs and want to own the figures. I really doesn't matter how technically 'good' a figure is, if you dont like the subject matter why would you buy it?

lodelco wrote:BTW when you said you liked Kissplayers I'm assuming its just the figures?

Well I dont speak Japanese so I could really enjoy the Manga or the Radio show. The figures were things of beauty and I enjoyed the rather quirky and distictly Japanese concept behind the line.
