The nostalgia factor is somethign hasbro wants to keep. sure we may not be their "target" audiences, but they sure as hell want us to buy their product.
Why do you think they have homages and even redone versions of some of our favorite g1 characters in almost every line since g1? To sell the toy to not only kids, but to another group that collects these things like its a religious practice. They appreciate our business to them, because we in a sense help Transformers be such a strong brand even since it was created in 1984. I think many of us here can agree that there are those of us here who grew up in g1 or g2, and have been collecting (on and off) since, not only do we keep doing business with them, but down the road you'll probably have kids, and guess what toys you'll want to get him? TRANSFORMERS. you're doing hasbro's adverstising jobs partially for them by introducing your own kids into the brand. Which brings me to my next point...
I think it would be very wrong for someone to think Hasbro doesn't care about us, because quite honestly they do, but they also care about $$$, and will make decisions that sometimes the fans will have a hard time understanding (in some over-zealous cases, the person will never understand).
Sure I'm not all that thrilled with some of the stuff they do, but thats not to say it isn't obvious they want our business and want to keep us happy.
my examples:
-The classics line and Alternators line
-Botcon/Otfcc
-Homages in other tf lines (hell look at how well beast wars took off with the fan base! It only got better when they started referencing g1, as far as $$$sales$$$ goes.)
-The Live action film (some decisions were made to tailor to the fan such as casting cullen and welker, despite welker only getting megatron's part in the game)
-The live action movie's game. Seriously... Activision is truly tailoring to the fans, having cullen and wlker reprise their famous roles, doing away with the emphasis on the humans in the movie, etc.
-the current generation 1 inspired comics (although this would be a no brainer, as comics on old series are alot of the times easy to sell.)
Now I realize i might sound like a Hasbro suck up, but honestly, looking at all they've done, its quite difficult to say that generation 1 will ever disapeer, its been 25 years, and chances are if Transformers is still around in another 25, G1 will not have been forgotten.

I have been saying this since day 1.
It could be done in an affordable way too. Just release one Con at a time for a tad less than a seeker would be, since it would be smaller.
About 500-600 bux later, Devastator! Totally worth the dough imo.
Perceptor might be a fun one. A working mircoscope for my place. Fun AND functional

I would also like to see them do mp constructicons, although our luck would be they would get about 4 of them released and then cancel the line.
Swerve wrote:Do you think music label might hurt the chances of seeing a MP Soundwave? There is a lot of debate over whether he should get the MP treatment, how to handle scale, and the relevance of tapes. I also think that with them having retooled and remolded Soundwave for music label, does Takara want to try and remold him again in a larger scale for MP? I personally want to see him, I just wonder about the validity of these arguments delaying or preventing him from getting made.
my comments weren't strictly for the g1 line either. g1 as a whole influences every new series of transformers since g1 ended. If you look in every line from that point on, there are hints of g1 here and there, some more obvious than others. What I'm trying to say is, even if the movie does become super popular, g1's style, characters, stories and influences will never go away. We will keep seeing g1 based masterpieces, I will guaruntee you that as long as the transformers brand is around.skywarp-2 wrote:Head Shot wrote:I highly disagree with you skywarp. My comments weren't directed at the G-1 line dissolving on a whole massive scale, i was referencing Takara and their Masterpiece collection line.. not HASBRO.. I agree with you

An Autobot would be Grimlock, Rodimus, or Perfect Magnus. I would very much like to see MP Gestalts, but I jsut can't. Triple Changers are another story. I could see Blitzwing or Astrotrain. It would take a bit longer I assume, giving them one more alt. mode than the others already produced. Cities such as Trypticon, Metroplex, Scorponok, & Fort Max will most likely never happen. I could see them in a smaller scale, only w/the exception that Fort Max & Scoponok are still Headmasters. Cities are way to big, and the MP line so far continues to be in scale. If the cities were made, that's at least $400+ each one. I could probably buy 2 MIB Scorponok's w/all that $$$$$!! But whatever, we'll see what happens after Skywarp...............
