The Heavy Metal War Union

Postby Goribus » Sat Jul 07, 2007 5:55 pm

We, the united sub factions of Seibertron.com's Heavy Metal War, have banded together. We feel we are an important part of this game. The Heavy Metal War Union has been created to show our unity. Our purpose is to welcome new players to the mechanics of the game, to organize unofficial sub-games like the alt hunts and mini tournaments, and to add to the growing storyline of the Heavy Metal War. The sub-factions have been unfairly singled out and made an example of. Together we hope to show that we are very much a part of HMW. And that we are needed. On our own as individuals we are powerful (in the game) there's no denying that. But as a collective we have helped each other through thick and thin. Some of us look to the others as family.

The Heavy Metal War Union was created as an effort to band together and show unity amoung the sub factions. It encompasses both the Autobots and the Decepticon Factions. Jesus Prime and Windracer have been nominated to lead this new faction. All are welcome. No members will be turned away. Together we can show that the Sub Factions are in fact useful and important.

Signed,

The Heavy Metal War Union (HMWU)

A sub faction of all of the sub factions? Y'know, this meets every definition of the word "superfluous."

I see that everyone's reading this the wrong way. It's not another sub-faction, or an attempt at 'segregation' or whatever, it's just a more organised approach that some of us have decided to take towards adding some more fun to the game. We've got together to mull over unofficial alt hunts, tournaments, new player advice, configuration advice, all the best bits we felt that the non sub-faction players might have missed out on from the sub-factions. If anyone thinks that trying to add fun to the game will make it less fun, then fine, I'll withdraw our involvement here. We're just the guy selling hats at a concert (only for free). Yeah, the concert's great, but it's so much better with a hat.

We decided to get together and organise something positive after he expressed a view that the sub factions weren't welcome any more. So we cherry-picked some of the best sub-faction ideas and ran with it.

So, let's clarify.

There's a thread, here:
http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9265&start=90&sid=

In which the future of the factions - including RDD and AWC - are being discussed.

In it, Caelus says:
Anyway, once we get to talk things over next week, I'll do my best to make sure you guys know what the plan is, rahter than have everyone taking shots in the dark for the next eight months.

Within five days, we get a thread saying
We feel we are an important part of this game.
The sub-factions have been unfairly singled out and made an example of.
we subfactions are here to stay. This RDD scout will make certain of it.

Although I do see the positives within your message, don't you think that (a) this is not the time, and that (b) perhaps such a hardline stance isn't appropriate?

It's like the various western leaders getting together to fight Third World debt... and protestors turning up outside to protest against Third world debt. Yes, we know that debt exists, thanks, that's why the meeting being held.

We know that factions are important to HMW. We know because there's a thread about it, in which the moderators have discussed the isue with the palyers, and plan to discuss amongst themselves what their position will be. When they come back to you, at that point, it's time to respond, depending upon what they say.

When they're taking the time to listen to your concerns, and actually try to get co-ordinated to respond, I think it's a poor show to say "we subfactions are here to stay". At least let the moderators make a decision before refusing to obey it...

Not to sound like a dick again, but this isn't really a sub-faction, or at least it's not associated with them. If anything it could lighten the burden on the staff.
The main bulk of the idea is that we've created a framework of organisation in order to set up and run things like unofficial alt-hunts and tournaments, doing all the messy planning elsewhere so we don't spam up the boards he with useless ideas. Then, when we've got something sorted, it's imported over here ready to plug and play. So far we've got a nice twist on the alt-hunt idea, which Redimus has come up with, and AJ and I are bashing out ideas for a tournament for the end of V1, with a narrative plot running thtough to add a nice extra depth to it.
If anyone feels that a forum other that Seibertron is a waste of time, there's no need to register or even visit. As I've mentioned, it's for the gritty, messy planning and what have you. Anything and everything productive that we come up with will end up over here for the enjoyment of all.

this a response to AS's locking of a different thread, not that thread which was hijacked into a sub faction discussion.

We took a quick skelly though that post to see if it read like we wanted, but it's Goribus and me. What'd you expect? I do apologise for any misinformation though. If anyone's not too clear on things, ask and I'll try to explain.

Know what's funny?

As a "combined effort" we seem to only be hearing from the RDD side of things.

Who's in charge of the AWC these days? Do they not even show their faces anymore? Do they even exist? Is all this just a couple of RDD members having problems letting go of the past? Should I just go watch some Stargate:Atlantis and drink some Coke and wait for this headache to clear? These questions and more, answered shortly in the next ongoing instalment of Days of our HMW ...

Ah, but didn't I say it's independant of the sub-factions? However, Windracer is also in charge of things, but I can't blame her for not getting into anything here yet. And no, you should never watch Stargate Atlantis.
