Would you link me to these case breakdowns for Studio Series next year? I don't remember seeing that specific bit of news any time recently. We do remember a few months ago a big store internal inventory list of Transformers for the near future, but it was far from leaking the entire contents of each wave of product for 2022.

She is. Most times I've been in Target this year, she has literally been the only Kingdom toy - sometimes the only Generations Transformer, even - left on the shelves. And she similarly lingered during Earthrise.sol magnus wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Okay, so it's inherently idiotic. Arcee should be the shortpacked one, not Perceptor.
Definitely agree with that. I can't believe there's sales data that says over stocking Arcee is the way to go with her being in this AND Studio Series '86 even if I don't believe she's a straight up 'pegwarmer.'

Edit: I realized after posting this was probably what you were remembering, the retailer ordering sheet info. While no way a guarantee, if it was going to be a regular packaging release, and numbered to be the next after Starscream, he would need to be on that list in order for retailers to have their orders in place when he comes out. Clearly he's already in production. So if not a regular retail release, then we are back to a retailer exclusive for the regular package release, which doesn't make any sense.

Those are exclusive lines, not singular items. We’ve had plenty of exclusive one-off figures for the Studio Series over the past couple of years, including TLK Drift with the baby Dinobots, Universal Studios Megatron, Battle Damaged Megatron, Target Logo Leadfoot, N.E.S.T Bumblebee, and a few Bumblebee multipacks as well. There is plenty of precedence for one-off releases in the Studio Series line already.
ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Okay, so it's inherently idiotic. Unless this is a surprise brand new mold, Arcee - y'know, the figure that was in two lines in a row AND SHELFWARMED DURING BOTH OF THEM - should be the shortpacked one instead of Perceptor.

And even if you disagree there, you can't deny that she's been out two lines in a row in good quantity and is easily acquired.
Whereas S86 Perceptor is a brand new figure with no previous availability, and Perceptor's last toy fell victim to tail end syndrome and is hard to come by.

One-off SS releases are definitely a possibility, but if they go that route we are back to making a single figure/character a double exclusive (Target and whomever else), which I believe is pretty unprecedented.
As an aside, they really better not release SS79 individually. That is a terrible figure not worthy of taking a SS deluxe slot from anyone else. I accept him as a very affordable way for me to get Stinger in the Buzzworthy line 2-pack, but that is all.
1. It wasn't completely dumb, they needed her available for the anniversary. 2. She. Lingered. For. Ages. Even if she eventually sold, even if others lingered more than she did in some areas, she still clearly lingered on the pegs longer than most. I've observed that, and based on yours and others' posts I can infer I'm far from the only one to have seen that. And given that, I see "Well she never went on clearance" and "People did eventually buy her" as arbitrary, flimsy excuses to not call her a shelfwarmer.william-james88 wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Even if she hasn't outright gone on clearance (that people have seen), even if you're using that as en arbitrary excuse to not call her a shelfwarmer, she's still obviously been last choice for many people.

I never argued that. She just didn't shelfwarm as people predicted. Hasbro made what seemed like a dumb decision but it didn't backfire, maybe they know better than us.
Eventually. And I'm not convinced it wasn't, just given the state things are in grumble grumble.william-james88 wrote:Pretty sure it wasn't scalpers who bought her these past 5 months and yet she still sold.
Except - and I realize I'm arguing semantics - that what I said is that she has obviously been the last choice for a lot of people. Not across the board, just for a lot of people. That is objectively true. For her to so often be the last remaining non-Cyberverse transforming Transformer (and we're talking 3, sometimes 4 of her) at multiple high-traffic Targets, she would have to have been the last choice of lots of people. So I wouldn't say yours counters mine so much as qualifies it.william-james88 wrote:Saying she is the last choice is only based on your anecdotle evidence. Mine counters yours. Therefore there is no actual trend, just different anecdotle evidence.
Okay, so he was wave 4 and not quite the tail end. But I seem to recall that even wave 4 had distribution problems, and I know I've seen complaints of him being hard to get hold of after the fact.william-james88 wrote:Whereas S86 Perceptor is a brand new figure with no previous availability, and Perceptor's last toy fell victim to tail end syndrome and is hard to come by.
Come on man, it's fallacies like this that make it hard to have a solid conversation some times. You could just look up what wave TR Perceptor was in before posting. I mean this with the best intentions. Even though it may not be 100% crucial, fallacies that are easily looked up will inadvertently weaken any argument you may present.

Anyone know or have a theory on why the "To Punish And Enslave" slogan was removed from the SS Barricade of the two-pack?

I think this may be the concensus. The deco does work better in robot than vehicle mode though.
