Re: Transformers Generations "Fall of Cybertron" Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Shockwave In-Package with Bios
It makes sense that they have Shockwave listed as a mobile gun. Looking at his alt mode he appears to be a flying gun. Almost a miniature space cruiser. Which is a fair reinterpretation of his Gen 1 origin as a giant hand gun.
I can't picture him having alot of maneuverability only a whole lot of firepower.
The smaller size toys doesn't faze me too much. However excessive amounts of cardboard are unwanted. Being a collector who doesn't always open I have actually disregarded some action figure lines (dc-heros mostly) because of excessive and garish packaging.
These are well designed and the re-sculptures and color alts at least offer to people a opportunity to get the design if they don't want to add yet another Optimus to their collection.
I think more information in their Bios might be fun. I always like to hear more information about the character. Also a actual comic line or even a limited cartoon series would also be cool.
The Generations line and its video game portions do leave a TF fan hungry for more.

It strikes me as there's a lot of excess packaging with these guys.

Re: Transformers Generations "Fall of Cybertron" Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Shockwave In-Package with Bios
Funny thing, I stopped collecting Transformers after G1, then when I was getting back into it circa Energon, I thought the toys were too big compared to the toys I knew. Now they are getting smaller to their G1 counterpart size and I must admit that i'm a little disappointed. They aren't deal breakers, well maybe Jazz since he will be tiny compared to his Generations G1 toy. Shockwave seems to have survived the downscale and looks to be about the size of Generations Scourge. It's almost like they chose who to downscale based on who they think will sell the best. Also, they really shouldn't have shown Ultra Magnus at Botcon, now a lot of people are planning on ditching the mold as Optimus and getting a much better looking toy.

I'm sure most kids care more about Optimus, quite honestly. Even if they did see UM at Botcon. Which I'm gonna assume most haven't.Trikeboy wrote:Also, they really shouldn't have shown Ultra Magnus at Botcon, now a lot of people are planning on ditching the mold as Optimus and getting a much better looking toy.

What I meant is that Hasbro would have got more sales from Optimus Prime if Ultra Magnus wasn't revealed.

Re: Transformers Generations "Fall of Cybertron" Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Shockwave In-Package with Bios
I'm sure this has been asked before but I'll ask anyway...
Is this Transformers Generations a continuation of where Transformers Generations from last year left off or is this a completely new line? I really like Trasformers Generations from last year and year before, that is as close as I could get to havig he originals (G1's) I collected a couple of them but I dont want to start all over again.

Re: Transformers Generations "Fall of Cybertron" Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Shockwave In-Package with Bios
Price increase is a bit annoying. But the TF hobby is still highly doable.
Here in Europe we get payed a bit more, a deluxe is 19,95 euro's. And yes, euro's murder dollars.
I'll be getting them all anyway
The new Starscream is pure love, Sideswpipe on the way (didn't expect that one) And the repaints are getting new heads and weapons so that makes a perchase legit.
+ I love the game(s) so even if the toys were ugly like Armada Sideswipe, I'll still be getting them all.
About the smaller argument. Cybertron Hotshot is huge, but he has a simple transformation and not much articulation. The PRID Wheeljack has lots of parts and moving parts. Transformers are more complex since the movies (Well, RID car bro's were complex). I don't think Hasbro can go back to easy Armada transformations (I love armada by the way :p)

A very good point. When looking at the Unicron trilogy line, some of the transformations pale in comparison to what we have these days. I recently picked up Cyberverse Legion Cliffjumper and I was so surprised how much there was to the transformation on such a small toy. Even Legion Arcee has a pretty nifty transformation.

Anyone remember the euro exclusives? Blocky as hell, colors that make your eyes bleed. I love 'm, have all the turbo masters and predators
Anyway, there aren't many primes that can beat G2 Sureshot/Optimus as a solid G1 bulky Prime.

Shockwave, Jazz, and Optimus next to WfC Megatron
Shockwave is normal size, but Prime is notably shorter. The Jazz mold is SIGNIFICANTLY shorter... like, bigger than a scout, but not by a ton.

It's pretty much the same line but with a different focus this time. While last year's Generations line focused on modern takes of G1 characters with a few from the Transformers War For Cybertron video game, featuring their pre-earth forms, this year's Generations line is focusing exclusively on the Fall of Cybertron game characters at first. It's probably likely that they'll do some more updated G1s later on but for now it's all video game stuff.

Yeah, I heard some numbers tossed around that we were supposedly getting about 40 Generations figures. Knowing we're getting legend class 'minions,' and likely seeker repaints, this looks about accurate.
