He looks to be a full head taller than Starscream in that photo, and bear in mind that he's in the shorter Hot Rod configuration there.

And he's only a half-head taller in that pic, which is too tall for Hot Rod. He should be shorter than Starscream, thus my point is proven yet again, the "evolution" gimmick is crap.

However, it also proves that in the taller Rodimus Prime configuration he would be at least a head taller than Starscream, as is proper.

I did actually point out the whole "out of scale with himself" issue in a past post, where I said that the Hot Rod mode was in scale with Alternators and MP-1 but out of scale with Seekers, Grimlock, and MP-10 onward stuff (hence the need for MP-28).. while the Rodimus Prime configuration had the opposite issue.

It would be nice one day, if they just made a straight up MP Rodimus Prime. Minus gimmicks or caveats, just the Future leader of the Autobots, in Masterpiece form.

Who knows? That could be the next G1 figure after Arcee.

I do hope, in light of the Arcee news, the G1 MP line has started to move Forward again. As opposed to pining over Car Bots that aren't happening anytime soon, and/or Prime 4.0 & Bee 3.0. Alternatively, there is still the Insecticons or the other three four Dinobots should they want to make a legitimate effort to finish Season 2, at least.

Question is, would people be happy if the quality came out like mp 51 (see figure scan photos for evidence) the mp Arcee should not have been okay'ed.

Several MPs of dubious quality seem to have been okay'd by the fanbase, purely because of who they are. So I don't really think it would be an issue for some. That said, now the MP Beast Wars are a thing, post-Grimlock, I wonder if they Beasties will influence the G1 animals. Would MP Terrorsaur and Swoop be released simultaneously, sharing engineering? Or the Insecticons alongside the remaining Predacons?

Takara don't normally like to financially gamble with a one-off mold, so this might be a way to fast track these G1 characters?

Possible, though swoop has an advantage over Terrorsaur in that at least his alt mode doesn't have to be too realistic

Though we do have a few molds that, so far, are one offs (bee 2.0,Hound, Tigatron, BA, Lio Convoy, Acree) though of course let's see how that list holds up in a year or so.

You say that, but all of those one-offs have retool (Goldbug) or redeco (Detritus, Nightprowler, various Lio's and all the other Fembots, respectively) potential. Even BA could ironically have that Arcee redeco, now that I think about it.

That's why I said about looking back at that list in a years time (or longer) though it does highlight the fact that, predacons aside, the last Decepticon mp was megs.

I said it before, I'll say it again: BW Inferno better get an MP, and soon. And if by some miracle the other Dinobots get made, I hope we get a red Swoop.

Red swoop would be the + version with the cartoon accurate being the main one unless some genius tries to shoe horn a mold where you can change the colour of it.

Not anymore, no. The last few years, both in renewing my own collecting and sourcing figures for friends, it has really opened my eyes to how weirdly HasTak run Transformers as a franchise in general.

Sort of. MP-10 was the start of the new scale, but they said they wanted him to scale with MP-09. So it's a chicken and the egg thing where it wssn't the original intention but turned into it.

Also, the figure is Rodimus Convoy...how is the main mode of the figure a cop out?

Because in the figure there's no real difference between Hot Rod and Rodimus, other than a small extension of the hips and raising the shoulders. And the face change, which adds nothing to height. The only way the name works is if MP-09 was intended to be the start of the new scale.

The making him convert to Hot Rod was the cluge. They were trying to pack too much (arguably) into the figure to make it the final word on Hot Rodimus / Rodimus Convoy. They asked a lot of the designers on that one. I still want one, but he will be (and would have been if I got him back in the day) Rodimus Prime on my shelf.

Personally I think that they will make a definitive Rodimus Prime at some point, just I wouldn't bet on it being soon.

KFC did one KFC simba (which is why it's kinda surprising Takara didn't do one with mp ultra magnus borrowing ideas from KFC citizen stack).
