Rodimus doesn't need to become Hot Rod, but he
does need to turn into the Rodebago. And in order to do
that while having his robot mode match up to Galvatron, he needs to be a Leader-class. Otherwise you're going to end up with an upscale of the crappy Titanium Series figure.
Galvatron already
had a good Voyager, IMO: The Titans Return figure. The only things it really needs are to replace the forearm fins with folding mounts for his cannon (or for the cannon base to be modified with a foldout mounting clamp that slips over the fins) so that it can be mounted in a cartoon-accurate fashion (and without blocking his elbow), and for the face mask to A. be a better fit for the underlying faceplate and B. lose the spring-loading so that the springs don't block him from having full head rotation. I mean, I guess you could change the head to integrated if you really had to but eh. I think he's overall a good figure already.
Cyclonus doesn't strictly
need a Voyager figure, for my money. It wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it's necessary.
Far more important than retreading Galvatron, in my opinion, is a new, cartoon-based Wreck-Gar. Hot Rod, Kup, Springer, Arcee, Wheelie, Blurr, Cyclonus, and Scourge have all had cartoon-based dedicated toys made. Wreck-Gar has had the RTS toy (which redesigned him), a headswap retool of CW Legends-class Groove, and a retool of CW Afterburner.
I also want to see a Greenlight reissue.
Leader lass figures are voyagers figures with extra stuff now, so sure. That's fine. As long as Roddy is a voyager in robot mode and doesn't try to be Hot Rod too I'm good. I actually liked the Titanium, even if there were some missteps in the deign.
Sorry, man, but I have to disagree with you on Titans Return Galvatron being good. He's more along the lines of being barely acceptable. Yes, he's a voyager. Yes, he's G1. But that's all he's got. Barely passable. I have a sense I may have had this exact same conversation with you.
Ditto on Cyclonus - right now we have CW Cyconus and he's just ... there. He's certainly the right height. But, like Galvy, being the right height and G1 is all he has. I think he's due for a voyager figure that's better than his old deluxe.
I'm good with RTS Wreck-Gar.
But, yeah, all these are just our opinions. Like I'm, personally fine with the old Wreck-Gar mould I have. It's fine to want a more G1 version. I may get ONE if they make it. Maybe. But I won't dispute your own desire to want one.
I'll toss in Armada Wheeljack as a guy I wouldn't mind seeing a return. I like his scratched out Decepticon logo.
Dinobot 2 would be cool. I brought out the original yesterday and I still like the bone raptor design. I know unlikely. Don't care, my list my rules.
Arblus and Kranix. We're digging deep here. Wouldn't mind seeing them out to fill out my "nobodies".
Guiltar. The Megatron / Optimus Prime / Starscream hybrid everyone's forgotten about. That guy's out there just dying to be made.
They've already done so many guys already ...
