They never replaced the insides with an elite. Why would they anyway? It's the same system. The only differences between the Elite and even the Core/Arcade is cosmetic.

What they will most likely do, since it's pretty much what they always do, is see what's wrong with the system, then send you one they had previously fixed. Whatever you do though, don't send your hard drive. They'll probably send you a new hard drive anyway. It's another common thing.

Gezzer I get my games off said thats what they do, never checked mine but Im guessin they didnt coz it **** up again soon after

I don't think you have to send the cables with it, but you might as well since the one they send back will have new ones. The hard drive is the only thing you need to hang on to.

It crapped out again because of the high defective rate. I think they're made in Mexico or something. I've known people to go through 4 replacements in 3 months.

My first 360 lasted 28 days, my second lasted 11 months. I'm on my 4th now. By comparison, I bought a used PS3 shortly after my 3rd 360 (little over a year ago now) and it works fine. Even got a new 250 gig hard drive for it, which cost me less then the 120 for the 360.

old 360's still exhibit that problem, but anything produced after mid 2008 should be problem free (and alot cooler and silent at it)

All you have to send is the console. They actually prefer you to keep your AV and power cables. You also have to detach the faceplate and harddrive.

They should also ship you a free 1 month "trial" for XBL. When you called in did they give you the option to have them send a box to you for you to ship it to 'em in?

To bad the "Limited Edition Halo 3" 360s weren't part of that batch. Ah well. Starscream keeps my 360 happy now.

They're supposed to send you a box and pay for shipping.

For a box? No. They get shipments in every weekday, and they're only going to break them down and toss'em for the most part anyway. Hell, you could even try McDonalds or Burger King.

Doubt it. Most places will tell you they can't or aren't allowed to do that. But i can tell you that they don't even attempt to stop you if you go around to the back of the store, go through the garbage bin and grab however many boxes you want haha.

As far as packing it goes, i would suggest just dropping by your local UPS store and asking them what sort of packing stuff they have and what they would recommend.

In the box the send out(which they should have done for you, don't know why they didn't) they include two pieces of styrofoam, so if you have any laying around or know someone that does, just grab some and cut it with a knife to pack it in with.
