Hi,
Does anyone feel the Reissue Fortress maximus is worth getting? As its an encore reissue will the mould be a bit hard after all these years?

What faults do you think will appear on the toy? I know the Sword is not available apparently?

Just thought I would air my thoughts about the figure.

The sword will be available with the reissue, despite images not showing it. So don't worry about that. As for mold degradation, I wouldn't really know until some reviews come out.

I'd be a bit more concerned about his size, he's 2 foot tall, or roughly 60 cm! Would you have the room for him?

Is he worth buying? I guess that depends on your collection.

For me, he is not worth buying. My collection focuses on characters from the G1 US cartoon. I never had any real attachment to Fort Max from growing up, and he isn't that important to me. I would rather have the $300+ to spend on characters that fit into my collection.

Not that having a Fort Max wouldn't be cool...

Any collection WITHOUT a Fortress Maximus of any stripe is a worthless collection.

I contemplated it, but decided against it. No room, and also I already have Brave Max, even though I'm selling him. But if you've never owned any version of him and have the money to spend, get him. I remember when I 1st bought Fort Max, it was really cool. If I had the room, I would.

I own over 500 Transformers, including a full set of MIB Masterforce Destron pretenders, A MIB Lander, boxed Dinoforce figures as well as a MIB Sky Garry. I love my MOSC Constructicons and Firecons and in spite of all that and an assload more...

I sadly agree with Valandar's post. I. Will. Own. Fort. Max.

I have an old comic book with him in it. That's good enough for me. No accessories to speak of but it has about as much articulation and it's more show-accurate.

Count me in the minority that finds Fort Max to be overrated. Other than its size, it really doesn't seem a very impressive fig to me. Would a voyager sized Fort Max still be considered some great figure...outside of WST collectors anyhow?

The size, the gimmick of a DOUBLE HEADMASTER and that it is Fortress Maximus are the main reasons to get this thing. I'm just not sure that any one of them is good enough for all that cash and even when they're all taken together you have to be pretty serious about either your G1 collection, your Otherwise Notable TF collection or your burning admiration for the hunk-o'-hunk that is Fort Max to actually buy the figure.

That he turns into a base for smaller toys means that it gets awkward to make smaller versions of him. Just because it'd be funny I would kind of like a legends-class mold. He'd turn into basically a tiny lump of unidentifiable square plastic but as long as the robot mode was good...

I guess I could see some sort of bulky, tracked command/first aid vehicle as a viable alternative mode. Like that big Jawa vehicle fortress from Star Wars.

Ive only seen one on eBay etc and have always wanted one, so I went ahead and preordered.
If you're still undecided, why not put one on preorder, give it a week or so to consider if you really want it and go from there? It is your money afterall.

Order or do not order. If you've got the cash do! My advice is to cease all planned purchases of IDW comics, FOC/Generations figures etc. By February or March 2012, you'll have enough to get one. Pure and simple.

This is a twice(or is it thrice?) a lifetime opportunity to get one (plus he's got two Master Swords not included in the original release ( plus the biocard). So what's not worth getting him for?

I own the original USA version (so sadly, I just have to settle for 3rd party master swords) and until now, gives me the goose bumps playing him....

The only real reason I wanted was to complete my Headmaster collection I have nearly all of the decepticons and only want him for that purpose.

I might actually get two of TFSource one I could open the other could be get in storage for 10 years then sold of at a later date maybe.

On the other hand the original will likely drop down in price hopefully drastically as did the other reissue figures not in boxes.

This is getting confusing. I thought Takara cleared up that the sword is NOT included anymore? Local stores here also list it as "Master Sword not included".

The only reason why I see myself buying Fort Max is just to say I own the largest Transformer ever. Truth to be told, the robot mode's not doing much, beside being a huge brick, and the alt modes are really just him lying flat-ish.

Still, I might get him just for the sheer size. $300 for something that big seems reasonable to me, considering how the price of MP figures are over $100ish already.

But, I also really want to get that Takara Generations FOC Bruticus, that is coming out around the same time. Brut is around $195ish. Spending $500 on toys in 2 months will kill me. Gotta choose 1 or the other, and I'm leaning towards Bruticus.

Totally Worth it. If you can save up for him. I think he's an awesome figure. Most people saying he's a brick clearly don't know him very well. He has on par hip articulation, Waist. elbows, wrists and shoulders. I'd hardly say he's a brick. Yes he's massive, and probably won't be getting in a lot of poses, but that's not a reason to dismiss him.

He's more a G1 grail for many people than anything else. At no time did his articulation factor into getting him. Just like articulation was not a concern in any of these encore or Book style releases before that.

Its a nostalgia kick for many.

If I wasn't going to buy a iPhone 5 now, I'd be all over it already. As it stands I'll likely have to wait a little longer before pre-ordering him.

Normally I buy one expensive Transformer a year so this year I got Hegemon megatron/repro stickers (must add photo he does awesome) for £110.

Where should I get him though? EBay is a good idea but what about TFsource think hes cheaper on there and they do free shipping for offers over $150.

Sword or not Fort Max is one of the most sought after grails no question. I gotta say Overcracker made some perfect points especially the nostalgia factor. Looking at him takes my mind back when I wished to see it up close in person for years. I can't say that I have a complete series line and I don't think I ever will due to the holes of figs I don't like. But I can honestly say I have at least one figure from each line G1.

Yeah I get it, to some he's just the biggest brick-former ever and for those G1 fans its an acquired taste. I see it as "I own the smallest TF ever, (correct me if wrong) WST Ravage and now the biggest TF ever Fort Max". C'mon even if your not a G1 fan you wouldn't appreciate and marvel at an enormous TF like Fort Max in your collection...why not get him?

I remember the fans that raved and beefed over Hercules size (not by much) over Giant and made their choice on that mostly. So now here you go, the BIGGEST TF ever that will tower over your huge Hercules.

I know his price tag may be too much for some but if you really want something you pass up other things and save for it like anything else. I hope we see major drops in prices after the release of Encore Fort Max. I really want to get my hands on a Brave Max as a result of it. C'mon Fort Max we're waiting...'nuff said! ;)^

will the original Fortress maximus drop down in price too? thats actually a very good question as when they did the reissues of Hound/starscream etc the prices for them loose all dropped accordingly quite drastically as I recall.

I could make the room if needed. However, it's 330$ + likely 60$ of shipping + another possible 60$ in custom fees. I'm not rich enough to own the guy.
Beside, he's way too blocky with horrible colors to justify the price. I'd have serious buyer remorse.
