question about ROFT constructacons

Postby fnlrun » Sat May 30, 2009 7:34 pm

I've been out of the game for a while but had 1 question. Do the deluxe constructions combine to make demolisher? Or is it 1 package deal with all of them?

Thanks Tim

I'm really not trying to be an ass but this topic (and the answer to your question) has been discussed to DEATH in like 30 different threads...

But once more, the answer is: the constructicons that come in the package together have individual vehicle modes ONLY and then combine into Devastator.

The deluxe and voyager constructicons that are sold separately have individual vehicle AND bot modes but do not combine into Devastator...

And even though you didn't ask, I'm sure someone will bring it up anyway so I'll go ahead and mention that there is a set of Legends-class constructicons (so far only available for preorder from Japan, but a US release is possible) that have vehicle and bot modes AND combine into mini-Devastator.

And while I do appreciate your answer, I was fairly sure it was asked. I did a half-assed search but didn't see it. But while it has been beaten to death I'm sure, thank you!

ROTF Devastator, is it worth the buy?

Postby skywarp-2 » Sat May 30, 2009 9:49 pm

I think I read some where that the devastator combiner set for the revenge of the Sith, errr... fallen movie is just vehicles that become devastator... so in my view, if this is true.. is it still worth it to buy him???

Love to hear you guys thoughts about that.. for a bit of eye candy, Seibertron's Botcon 2009 Gallery is here.. and it is awesome!!

man I didn't know that Hasbro had already made promises about him.. hmmmmm.. the thing that bothers me is that i can't buy a Devastator, and have a functional crew.. because it will be mainly just like you said.. a Megazord.. LOL.. that's clever.. :APPLAUSE:

so i suppose clearance it is then.... so this must be the 2009 version of Ultimate Bumblebee..

I will most likel be getting him. I saw him at Botcon and I thought he was very impressive.

I actually don't really care one way or he other about the fact that the vehicles don't have bot forms. I plan on getting the transforming ones anyway so it doesn't matter.

Would I prefer that they could not only combine, but have individual robot modes? yes I would, but that's not available so this is my best option for the time being.

do you think they may do the actual transforming parts version down the road??

I hear ya on that.. I suppose if you are left with one thing, an that's it..you pretty much have no choice, but if I see tons of them on the shelves.... by X-mas, I'm definitely getting him when he hits rock bottom clearance prices..just because if it's cheap, then to me it's worth it..

so then who would you say is this year's Ultimate Bumblebee??

There were two must have figures from this movie for me. Sideswipe and Devastator and that still hasn't changed for me.I rather have the Devastator than the separate bots if i had a choice.Seeing the convention pics I want it even more.I don't transform my figures very often I usually change there poses when I clean them and that's about it.I have many combiners and none of them ever see there individual bot modes ever again once they form the big guys. So this is a must have still.

I think the fact that you don't get both a transforming and combining constructicons is a joke, but ya know, as frickin' terrible as the constucticon bot modes are, maybe it's not such a bad thing the combining ones don't have them after all...

Still won't buy either set, though, so no...not worth it.

I'm curious... is it because Devastator was not what you thought he would be like?? I must admit, i was kinda put off by his initial design.. I was kinda hoping he had more of the green colors in uniformity and that some of the construction bots looked different.. I mean that wheeled one is too funky...it looks cheap even in CGI from the actual movie..

No, I actually don't mind the looks of Devastator, but the fact that they don't have bot modes is a complete turn off and makes it not worth $100. I think the individual bots are terrible for all but the dump truck, though, so I guess it's a good thing they don't do both or I probably woulda bought the set and never took it out of Dev form anyhow. $100 saved...

That was my thought exactly...I'm not buying the individual ones because htey look so damn stupid in bot mode so it really doesn't matter to me that Devastator doesn't have them becase I'll always have him assembled anyway...

skywarp-2 wrote:so this must be the 2009 version of Ultimate Bumblebee..

No I'm pretty sure the 2009 version of Ultimate Bumblebee is going to be the 2009 version of Ultimate Bumblebee...I doubt giving him a new hat and gun is going to make anyone want him more than they did last time...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure (knowing collectors as I do...since I am one too) that MOST of you who are raising hell about Devastator this and Devastator that and SWEARING up and down that you won't buy him because he doesn't have bot-modes will still end up grabbing him as soon as you see him on the shelf when you're all swept up in the impulse of available new ****...Don't try to kid yourselves, you know how it is...And you know that no matter how much Hasbro pisses us off, they still own are souls :P

Weapon: Energo-Sword
i can confirm from the source from 2 hasbro reps at botcon, that later in 2009, early 2010 there will be a boxset or exclusive set of devastator rotf which will be in deluxe scale.

however all will have robot mode, alt mode and combine mode....they will leave out the third individual mode out. price point and exclusive is yet to be determine.

So maybe the deluxe version coming out next year is the one we need to get.. but that sucks then for wanting to have a giant transformer that is totally accurate to the movie, by having the body parts become robots too.. hmmm.. well the deluxe Devastator will be closer in size to the rest of my combiner sets, and probably cheaper then the 100.00 for the supreme version..

I still don't think he'll fly off the shelves very fast.. economic times are still tough and 100.00 is a steep price for the masses.. maybe not us collectors, but I still found a half priced Unicron at my local Wal-Mart, and some others like the sound based Masterpiece Optimus prime, the anniversary G-1 Prime box... so allot of old back stock is still being put out..

I understand the math and the fact that it is an import. However, I don't think a legends class figure is worth $7. Apparently Hasbro will be putting this out in the States, so I will wait to see it in person. If I buy the Supreme class Dev. I won't be buying this too.

I am still gonna wait.. if history proves correct, the Supreme Class has always ended up in the Clearance isle.. so I will wait for Devastator to end up there.. as for the deluxe class version.. that one I MAY PURCHASE AT MARKET PRICE..so long as they do a good job in making their molds...

Bleh, the more i see him the more i dislike it.

Speaking from a combiner standpoint.

Image

It may be a good representation from the movie, but man are the scale of those bots all over the place. Yes they may match up with real sized machines, but it still annoys me that some mega huge earth mover is combining with the dinkiest dumptruck and bulldozer as his legs.

Image

Scavenger doesn't even like transformer. He flips over, mixmaster sits on his back and pokes Dev's head out from the rear, and then you get funky plow/scoop hands and feet.

Image
sweet back kibble dev

I'll be happy to watch him in the movie, but pay 100$ for something so wacky and unfun in anything but the combined mode is not something i'm happy about. Legends version will be where its at for me. I would consider a G1 deco, but we'll see
