did bay even consider to just change the actress portraying mikaela barnes or was the 'change character' option the only way to go? it just kinda bugs me if he thought of that or not.

Honestly, I hate it when they do that kind of thing. I'm so picky that it even bugs me that they use different actors to portray kid and adult versions of a person.

THEY STILL HAVE DIFFERENT FINGERPRINTS.

well... sometimes they REALLY have to because well...the previous actor died *cough*dumbledore*cough* mostly it's because of money and scheduling problems. sometimes the change is good (like in dark knight) others unintentionally funny ("next time baby" NOT)

Yes, EXP: Would you want to have waited like 8-10 yrs to go from Star Wars The Phantom Menace to the next one so the same actor could grow up and finish the film?

I really hate it when characters change actors. The only acceptable reasons for me are a) if the original actor died or b) if the original actor was terrible and they're able to find a replacement who is not only good but looks and sounds extremely similar to the original actor. I didn't like the character of Mikela much in the first place, and although I haven't seen DOTM yet, from what I've heard about Carly, she seems like a more interesting character.

so which is the worst reason for kicking off a main character? breaking up with the lead actor's character and stating she found someone better or the previous lead actor who was depicted as a bad-ass got "killed" by an ambush and the mentor stating he's going to find someone better?

I somehow wonder if I would have preferred just another actress such as the very similar actress arguing with the mailroom head honcho, obviously meant as yet another stab at Megan Fox. I think it was mentioned on another thread, but that part with the rings, and especially the few exchanges leading up to that, just seemed to spring out too suddenly to be moving.

Many people say that some of the human scenes are superfluous or contrived, no character development etc. I think the relationship between Sam and Megan had gone through a real progression, and I think I might have overlooked a change in actress.

i couldnt watch another movie with lloyd, the prequels were bad enough as it was

After everything Sam and Mikaela went through in the 2007 movie and ROTF, no way she'd break up with him. That, more than anything else, pisses me off and shatters my suspension of disbelief.

And I really like Mikaela, too. A great character. hell of a lot better than the live-action Carly...

IMO the prequels got a bad rap because it's biggest surprise (that palpatine's such a bastard that he orchestrated an invasion on his home planet to become emperor of the galaxy) was already revealed when they aired episodes 4-6 first.

Yeah, they could have gotten someone to replace Meagan, but keep the character. They did it in The Dark Knight, and it turned out really well.
