Just to clarify, I don't see Siege and Kingdom Magnus figures as the same.
But no would argue that one is a retool of the previous version.
Imo the "ER" version doesn't quality as a heavy retool, so they are very similar.
Especially in overall proportions and appearance.
For me, I'd be open to any figure of a character I like after 9 years. In fact I'd argue 3-4 years is plenty of time passed to make a new mold of a character, especially one that's accepted as relatively popular.
When SS86 Magnus is released, it will have been 2 and a half years since the release of the Kingdom version, and 2 months shy of 5 years since the release of the Siege version.
Even if someone bought both of these previous versions, I would personally say "burnt-out" with the G1 deco of this character is a bit of an overstatement.
If you bought every version of a character, if you're feeling burnt-out, that's by your own choice. But if you're a huge fan of a character, I'd assume there's a moderate degree of happiness with the purchase of each new release. Which seems to be the opposite of burnt-out. And otherwise, what's the point? If you bought just to buy and/or the feeling of acquiring something new, that's also on you.
That's also a horrible collecting habit and waste of money.
I'm one who is unaffected by versions/repaints that don't interest me (which also means I didn't purchase said versions/repaints).
But it doesn't make sense that someone could feel "fatigued" by releases of a character that they didn't buy.
Going back to perspective, it's interesting that SS86 Ratchet is being released just a year after SS86 Ironhide... And no one is complaining.
And Ratchet did get a SG figure whereas Ironhide did not...
So it's just a bit odd that for some reason, literally 1 year seems to be making a difference in the case of Ratchet.
And no worries... No one has any pull on me in terms of what I buy or don't buy.
I'm sure I'll really enjoy this CC Ultra Magnus. Hopefully it's good enough to you that it dissolves your saltiness.
Getting a bit judgmental about now, aren't you?
Yeah, some of this is on me. I thought Hasbro and Takara brought me the best version of the character and would be done with it for a time. And I was wrong. Very wrong. And I was dumb enough to buy their product and got diminishing returns. That much is on me.
Makes me a lot less of a fan of the whole TF collecting experience.
But some of it ain't on it. When I got Siege I had no way of knowing they'd make Kingdom. When I got kingdom I had no way of knowing they'd make Studio. They decided to make a habit of releasing a similar yet significantly better product part of their release strategy.
CW was 9 years ago, but it wasn't 9 years when Siege was released. If we include repaints (since we do have the internet and can get them) then it wouldn't have been that long between Plat CW and Siege.
My feelings about this UM right now? Not happy. I'll be happy later on, I think. I hope it'll dissolve my saltiness too. I don't like being salty over TF releases.
So, no. No I stand by including CW UM on my list as a modern UM that has left me feeling burnt out on the guy. If anything I should have added Netflix and Platinum.
