If evil, giant alien robots came down to Earth, im sure they could do more than kill or hurt 7000 people. Odds are those reported casualties were just from the Decepticons landing and hurting people on impact. The military may have used a few grenade launchers in the first movie, but in Shanghai they had machine guns against Demolishor. Im sure he was taking some major damage from those. The point is, the Decepticons in the movies were a bunch of wimps who hardly did anything, especially since there were so many of them. What did Devastator do in the movie? Nothing, he was around for about 7 minutes before getting killed by the rail gun. Sideways? He died without a fight at all. Grindor? He was there when Optimus died, but he himself was killed too. The Decepticons sucked in this movie, and the last (but not as much) and in the next one they better start kicking some Autobot and military ass.

I think they weak story has alot to do with the Cons being weak. I hope the 3rd has more city battles where the cites get destroyed and civilian casualties.

Back to the Rail gun tho, in the movie it was secret because they weren't technically supposed to be on the ships in the first place. They were in place and kept secret from personnel outside the Navy/DOD.

With the damage to Devastator I think 1 shot should not have destroyed him. Maybe knock of an arm or given him some serious damage but not kill him.
