How come one arm on big convoy is molded in solid colors and the other is transparent?

Just curious if there's any story reasons behind this.

Not that I'm aware of, I think it was just a design decision on Takara's part with no real rhyme or reason (but it looks cool to me so I don't mind

).

If I remember the cartoon correctly, he lost an arm in battle and had it replaced. The new arm does not match the original.

Finally, someone else noticed!! I've brought this up a few times with various people, and they just shrug.

It's funny how it's different to his normal one, not just in colour. Even down to his fingers, it's skeletal and artificial-looking.

I figure that he lost an arm in battle (probably to Magmatron) and either doesn't have the time/resources to rebuild it exactly, or he wears the prosthetic to remind him of his enemy!

Did you also notice the grille and "cab lights" on his chest? Perhaps he's supposed to be G1 Convoy in a new body?

We're like the Big Convoy Appreciation Club.

I bought the toy last year from Korea, a guy on eBay was selling like a hundred unboxed samples. All complete, factory fresh and tied. I assume he 'acquired' them off the line before they went to the boxing department or wherever.

£20 or thereabouts for a mint Biggy isn't bad.

This is always how I saw him in my own fiction. I like to use an alternate scenario (or "timeline") where Megatron DIDN'T arrive on Cybertron first thanks to Vector Prime's intervention, so BM never happened. Big Convoy is an elderly G1 Optimus Prime, and a member of the Prime Council. As such he ends up mentoring Primal to be the new Prime.

Just my fan-wanky take on it!

It's a Matrix, but not the Matrix.

In Japanese fiction every commander of Convoy rank had an Energon Matrix, including Lio Convoy and Fire Convoy.

I also got My Big convoy off ebay for I think 35 and I literally just realized his arm was different..Actually kind of neat lookin..I guess Transformers cant afford matching prosthetics?
