Seems we lost out with Prime's Faceplate...
Can I ask, what are people's main complaint here? Is it the fact that his faceplate is removeable, or is it the mouth that Prime has been given? Becuase there's nothing wrong with Prime having a removeable or sliding faceplate. That feature is not sacrilegious and will not ruin the film.
However, I believe that this particular mouth that the producers have gone with is aesthetically displeasing and isn't very nice. They could have done a much better job. That said, if he had a different mouth, I think it would be fine.
Would people be so upset if Megatron had been given a faceplate?
As for Yellow Spiderman, I wonder what effect that would have. Do any aficionados out there know how Spiderman's black suit was received the first time that appeared?

This thread has come to show that people are really complaining about some of the most trivial things. Now I get that everyone has the right to complain if they want to but is it really that horrific that he has a mouth and his faceplate is retractable? Is it worth gettin this worked up about? And I know that its not really related to the faceplate issue, but does it really matter the the girl lead's hair isnt blond?

Oh yeah, Shaq is goin to play Storm Shadow.
Close enough. One of the guys responsible for the TF movie is working on the GI Joe one. He wants the GI JOE MOVIE to be about ACTION MAN.
Yeah, it's that DiBonaventura imbecile. The same gimp who said "why would you want the original voice actors?" and who mocked the original designs.
I feel bad for the G.I.Joe folks. The TF movie folks who think they're going to do the G.I.Joe movie are in for a whole other story. Cobra Commander, Duke, Zartan ... they've all looked basically the same for the past 25 years. It's also, for the most part, been the same storyline for the past 25 years. This isn't like Transformers where the key characters undergo major changes every year (hence the confusion about what is and isn't important to each fan). For Lorenzo to come along and have the arrogance and ignorance about G.I.Joe to say that "Cobra is stupid" ... man, all I can say is "I'm sorry" to the Joe fans. They're going to get ripped apart more than the Transformers fans were.
As a hardcore GI Joe and Transformers fan, I can tell you that I am not looking forward to seeing what Hollywood will give me. Disregard for the entire history of one franchise is one thing, but doing it a second time to another just makes me so mad...
I swear if they made a Voltron movie, it would be a series of Bradley tanks that 'combine' by loading up into a plane.

I have to agree with Seibertron on this, I mean yes, this is bad. Yes you have no right to complain about a movie after its come out and you have not seen it. We've been lied to, told to back off, brushed to the side, and completely ignored. Now, unless they've been rendering these CG images and trailers and what not the way they have and everything we've seen is a farce and they have a totally different movie behind the scenes. This movie has little going for it.
Let me bring up a new point here really quick too. Let's not forget we have some fairly good sized movie names going on here. What happens when we've seen 50% of the scenes with the Transformers already from trailers and the movie is actually more focused on humans? There was a lot of speculation early on that made it look like it was going to be more of a movie based around the human characters than the actual Transformers themselves. The thought that this could even be remotely true is scary.
In all honesty, when this movie hits theaters, I'm not rounding up my usual movie going posse. I might go with a friend. Now Pirates 3 on the other hand, I'm rounding up more than my usual movie going posse, because it has so much more potential.
Really at this point all we can hope for is, what I like to call, the Scooby Doo Effect. When Scooby when live action, first movie was terrible. However, the second movie cameback and was awesome and worth seeing. We can still hope that Transformers 2, if there's a franchise left to have a sequel movie that is, might be able to put back some of those chunks they've shaved off.

Do you really think you have seen that much from the trailers? No one except maybe Ryan has even seen a full transformation sequence. I'm not even sure if he saw a complete one in the preview stuff he saw. I've seen every trailer and I still feel as though there is tons more to see in this movies. People want to complain because "omg, its centered on shia and megan" If I wanted nothing but pure robot on robot action I would watch a freaking youtube video of rock'em sock'em robots. Part of the transformers has always been the "human in peril" situation and how the good guys help them out.

I can't believe how passive so many people are being about this decision. And don't bring up the whole Optimus Primal thing. I would have been fine if they did the Beast Wars or Cybertron approach with movie Prime. This just looks ridiculous. How anyone at ILM or Dreamworks or even at Hasbro thought this looked even remotely good or "cool" seriously needs to get their eyes checked.
Please keep the entire design staff as far away as possible from G.I.Joe and any future Super Hero movies. Next thing you know we'll have a yellow Spider-Man with a visor and pinchers on his face as well as the Blue Lantern, a red Batman, a green Superman and a pink Wolverine. After seeing Spider-Man tonight and seeing how faithful they are to his costume, it helped me realize how disappointed I am to this day in the robot designs in this movie. I don't care what the reasons are for it, these design changes were poor decisions from the get-go and are completely unnecessary regardless of what mumbo-jumbo they want to make up to spin these changes to the public.
Don't get me wrong ... I'm extremely excited about the movie. But I feel a strong sense of Deja Vu. Beast Machines comes to mind. Great story. Absolutely horrible designs.
Not to mention a Cybernetic Indiana Jones! No seriously this SUCK!
But yeah, im starting to feel this will be the next Beast Machine! And after seeing all these weird design...we ARE going to have Transtech (Sorta..)

I do not want to see Prime's human face 99% of the movie. if he slides his face plate off once, I'm fine, if it's the reverse, I believe we have a legitimate gripe.

I dare you not to go see the movie. I dare you to spend all your money on parts 3, 4, and 5 of every other dopey summer sequel and not see the only original, groundbreaking, never before seen spectacle that is going to be the first live action Transformers.

I double dare you.

I think personally the movie folks have a little bit too much Politically Correct paranoia in them. I think they have forgotten that when foreign audiances see a G I Joe film, they are obviously going to expect to see a G I Joe film. Including it having a distinct GI Joe "flavor." If said audience doesn't see a recognizably GI Joe film, they are understandably go to feel ripped off out of their hard earned cash, because why see a GI Joe titled film, if you are not going to see GI Joe titled elements?durkadurka wrote:OMG! I just read that G.I. Joe thing on a yahoo movie page. WTF are these people thinking?!? I've been reading in this forum for quite a while, because i'm a child of the 80's and just got my interest back into my childhood favorites like Transformers and GI Joe. Now, with that said, the movie folks are trying to change the name because international audiences won't like it? Excuse me? Isn't GI Joe the "Real AMERICAN Hero?"

I never said I was upset that people are complaining or voincing opinions, what I am asking is it really worth it to be complaining about some this minor when for all that we know he could only have the mouth exposed for a whole 5-10 minutes of film out of 2 hours of movie. As far as that pic from a few days ago is concerned it looks like prime got his ass handed to him and perhaps the faceplate is damaged or destroyed. People are letting the little things in this movie dampen the possible experience that they could have by limiting themselves to "omg prime has flames and his truck mode looks just like the high end big rigs that are made to look nice." and "OMG I cant believe one robot is smaller than another robot" and "this has go-bots writen all over it"

I think I will still go see this movie. My favorite character does not look the way I think he should look, but I'm hoping with all of the complaints about him, they will change him in the sequel.
It looks like in that picture of Prime minus the faceplate, that he has some funky looking teeth. Are they teeth, or am I just seeing things?

I realize I'm in the minority in liking the movie designs. And i have to admit i think the face looks pretty cool in that shot of Prime. This isn't G1. This isn't BW, or BM, or even the Unicron Trilogy. This is an entire separate continuity. It doesn't have to look anything like the past versions. And really if it did I have a feeling it would be worse for it.
What amazes me those is that people seem to think that a human looking mouth would look more believable on a giant alien robot then the design we have in the pics. Jsut like they all want Human looking faces on everyone. Why the hell would alien robots have human faces. Hell really why would they have humanoid style bodies at all. Really something more insect like would make getting around easier and the extra limbs would make working on things and combat easier.
I'm not willing to bash anything in the movie until I actually see the flim. The trailers look cool so far, and I'm very excited to see it. If after I watch I don't like it thats one thing. But bashing a flim and saying you hate it and will never see it based on the fact that they didn't make a character look exactly like you want is jsut plain stupid.

Some Seiberton.com members may feel that complaining about the mouth and and faceplate are a bit trival. But I think most people are having issues with amount of changes that we have seen with this movie. The mouth has just become "the straw that has broken the camel's back".
According to Nelson it seems that we should expect more "left field" changes when the movie comes out. Some of you may not care; but for me- this type of news is upsetting.

In fact, there was some info that i was going to let the online community know about this week regarding the designs of certain TF characters and the reasons for the designs. But I'll let you find out about it when and if it comes out on DVD.
Maybe some of you guys can handle more surprises from left field come 7/4/7.

Just you wait, this film is going to rock.
Rob Cohen, James Cameron, and Roland Emmirch's worst movies are better than Bay's best "films" perioid.

I could have a piece of poop in my signature and it wouldn't matter on my opinon one way or another. Did anyone honestly think that this rendition would be a straight up copy of the old stuff. If that was the case 3000 people would see it, not 300,000.
