Alrighty then,

in short, a gob/whoopie pie is a pair of usually soft black velvety cookies with icing in the middle. You can of course make the icing any flavor/color you want, same with the type of cookie. It is a huge debate over which one is correct. Wikipedia uses Whoopie pie, but they are the internet so they can be wrong (and are)
