Wait, so I get on the blacklist because I am man enough to admit to not caring for the show?
Jokes aside, its a bit hard to like it when it wasnt part of my childhood. Unlike other shows (like the Flinstones for instance), this wasnt aired in french in quebec, so for my formative years I had no clue of it. First TF show I watched was Beast Wars, I would catch it when I went to my cousin's house and he had YTV. I only knew of the G1 characters at the age of 17. Hence why I am more of a toy guy than a fiction guy when it comes to TFs.

I did want to add that I still am a fan of trying to be toon accurate nonetheless (or being accurate to one specific source) since it forces engineers to get creative. For instance, animated Rodimus or gen Springer only having one set of wheels showing. They thus have to find a way to hide the other wheels. It adds another step and element to the transformation to make sure it looks like the cartoon model (like MP 10's wheels being covered in robot mode). Or even better, how CW Superion ends up having a different chest transformation for the combined mode and UW using the deco to showcase that.
So I like toon accuracy that way. Of course its a double edge sword because in wanting to match the toon, they could use fake parts to make things look accurate, which I am less a fan of.

If I'm forced off my fence then I'll fall on the uncut RIRFIB grass yard. But really there is literally no consistency on which is which and it's a dumb argument much like scale.
