Should Hasbro Release the "Go-Bots/Rock Lords?" Should they be added to the TF Mythos?

Nope it's blaster (not to be confused with the cool blaster from transformers). You can check out a list at tfu.info just look up blaster in gobots. The robot mode is nothing like sentinel prime.

I actually think that one of the Greatest Gobot idea that could benefit the Transformers Mythos was the "Power Suits" Specifically the combiner "courageous".
for those who don't know, the powersuits concept was simple, apparantly Turbo, the resident Gobot version of Ratchet, built a series of Power suits that the Gobots would get into an pilot, which would increase their fire power, give them flight capabilites, and shield protection against blaster weapons..Unfortunately the Renegades did this as well..
How does it work do you say?
First you bought the powersuit which came ina simple carded Package like this:

Once you assembled all 4 of the Powersuits, you then placed your Gobots in them for battle..

Once you had the Powersuits all together, you then needed to buy the Courageous, which I believe was a Spaceship that was for the Humans to pilot, that had extra parts that added on to it, and would also become the mid section for the Powersuits Gestalt form, of Courageous!!!

Once you had all the pieces combined you created the Ultimate in Combiner Glory!! What Blows my mind was the fact that this thing was being supplied super power by 4 gobots and had Humans who piloted it as well, bringing the kids and "Human" element far more into the story and development of the actual toys, something that Hasbro and the Transformers doesn't really do, except if you count the exosuit from the Transformers 1986 movie..

What a concept!! they also had a combiner of the same design for the Renegades as well, and it was pretty cool, especially the color schemes..

Still with Gobatron and the wars, it would be a nice additon to the Transformers Mythos if Gobatron was a Maximum Security Prison, of which was long forgotten by Cybertron until the civil war and the Renegades some how escaping their stasis Prison..

the Gobots are and always will be cool in my book.. I just wished Hasbro would give them a just and righteous debut in their toys for the Transformers..

I still enjoy watching the videos I have.
They're cornball, but nowhere as bad as some of the TF episodes I've seen, and that's no joke.
None of that crappy PSA melodrama crap either.

what was cool about the TV show was that it was produced by Hanna Barbara, and the interesting thing was they brought in a few "old timers" who did work on such classic TV shows as Space Ghost, Herculoids, Birdman, and Scooby Doo...I loved the stories, and yeah sometimes they were cheesy, but you have to admit, the Human characters played a HUGE part in the stories, and alot of them were adults who had a GI Joe feel to them, especially some of the villains and the cyborg gang that reminded me alot of Zartan's crews..
No whinny kids, and while we are on it, how the hell can those kids in Transformers, walk around without armor and not get squished!!!??
When the Gobots cartoon was on, I seem to remember that when the fighting broke out, the humans ran the butts off to get to a secure location..
But I don't want this thread to turn into what Gobots were VS Transformers, on the contrary, I am just illustrating the finest examples of what Gobots brought to the Table that hasbro should seriuosly look at and add to their Next installation of the Transformers mythos and toylines..
Gobots are great, but I want some updated stuff added into future Transformers lines... bring some of the best concepts back into the idea, and Breath some old concepts into a new life for the genre all together, I believe it will inevitably make the series stronger, and make Gobots and transformers fans happy at the same time..

I checked out the toyfare issue, it's not as cool as I thought it'd be, it was only 2 pages, I was like "where's the rest of it?" So I didn't buy it. But for a mag that used to rip on gobots like no other, it's cool people are starting to actually take a look at it, rather than hating on it because everyone else does... very ignorantly. Much like the wheelie hate, though that might be deserved.

yeah the wheelie toy has issues...
here is something cool... A Transformers VS Gobots Fan Made comic on Deviant art, it's pretty good, considering the art work and all, being a fans design.. but it has Transformers and Gobots together.. very very cool..
check it out here:

I'm gonna read it tonight before I go to bed..
for a discussion on the fan comic please post them here in a thread I started in the comics forum:

I never thought of the go-bots as worse than the transformers as a kid. I like both of the story lines and had plenty from both lines.
I loved the few Rocklords I had as a kid... I had several of them and I think He-man might have had one guy like that also. I even had a green rock looking transformer that wasn't pictured in the ones at the start of the thread so I must have even had some knock offs too.

I had a few of the power suits, one for each side if I remember right. The Renegade combiner looks pretty cool even today, and you're right that color scheme is nice!
That was one advantage to the Gobots all being the same scale, you could have something like a Power Suit and any Gobot could fit in it. Sadly that wouldn't work so well with Transformers if they tried it since almost every G1 figure is a different size. Maybe it would work for the minibots like Bumblebee and crew.
Also, great find with the webcomic, pretty entertaining stuff. I like Cykill's interaction with Unicron!

After reading the entire post and drooling at images of toys long before my era of collecting. I have to agree that incorporating Go-Bots into the Transformers Series as they once were represented in their original cartoon is looking like a perfectly wonderful idea. I only hope that Hasbro is up to the task and willing to go that extra mile and put the fun and interesting back into the Transformers brand, instead of pumping out the same stuff over and over again.
To me, G-1 was a great toyline it started the franchise.
Beast wars went on to create a new and wonderful world of adventure for new fans, myself included in that era.
RID went along a different avenue and had some really great toys, and some not o great simple reissues.
Armada had the truck back in style, and roadbots versus tanks and what have ya. they brought out Unicron and rehashed some G-1 material
Energon, was pretty much the same thing but with an empasis on gestalts, they did their best to create some cool gestalts.
Cybertron was a summation of all that came before, beast, robot and Primus.
Gobots would add another dynamic, especially the toy idea gimmicks first introduced back in the 80s. I would love to see a combiner power armor that can fit several deluxe sized bots and then it becoems a gestalt. I would also like to see the humans being more then just bystanders with no protective gear around massive bots fighting each other.

whoa not too much there grasshopper!!! I don't want Hasbro to be scared off the idea of incorporating 6 of my favorite bots into any future mythos...this is a stretch... anyone know where I can get some gobot paper bots??? Waaaaagh Lord??? Anyone????

Here's what I have left of my gobots. I had less but my comic store got in dive-dive, spoons, and a few others (my favorites when I had them) so I picked them up. Got them for like a dollar each.

Tacogrande, you are certainly cool in my book.. My one hope is that when I have the correct amount of disposable income to devote to the acquistion of Gobots, i'm gonna buy some rare vintage carded figures of Cykill, Leader One, Crasher, Turbo, skooter and Cop-tur..and maybe the rolls royce figure as well.. then it's on the hunt for the loose figures for playability!!! I'm totally into getting figures of Gobots, carded or loose.. it's a hobby until I can get Transformers..that are gobots and not minicons or playskool kids toys for tots!! that still burns me up, it's like Hasbro took a dump on their memory, becasue it was cool to do so as a Transformers fan..
Geez Louise!! the war over dominance was over back in 1987 whent he line was finally killed off by Transformers populartiy..They should have utilized the characters better..that's all I'm really saying.. Hasbro should get in gear..
Your sooo lucky you have some GoBots, I'm still waiting to get paid so i can buy them.. my business has been really slow lately.. but hopefully we will advance and get some deals and I'll have money soon...

Grasshopper huh??
I think if Hasbro does anything, they should do the Gobots toys the right way and add some spice back into the Transformers franchise. Do the combiners, they are pretty sweet, and would add a new level to the gestalt category.

Actually i changed my mind.. here is a subject I think Hasbro should look into.. Transformable Bases, and not some minicon terminal either, but real bases for your transformers, deluxe class ofcourse..
I owned all of these Bases....at one point.....
The Command Center:
The Command Center is a rather neat playset. Sadly it never really did much other that store things, but it had some cute gimmicks that made it all worth while.
Light & Sounds
Working Elevator
Though that does not sound much. The smaller things make this a fun piece. Though there was no actual rooms, they did section off the floors and have big stickers describing each section. The stickers were fun and they had such rooms as,
Alien Detention Center
Gobot De-Materializatizer
Strategtic Command
Enemy Re-Programming Center V.T.M.
Cafeteria
Trauma Center
Interrogation Center
This was my favorite and most coveted base I had ever owned, it sported a look that was reminiscent of the AT AT from Starwars, and was a really fun playset..

when you stood it up, it became a base for all your Gobots to enjoy, It really was hours of fun.. and at the time I didn't have an At AT from Star Wars, so this was a nice substitue..

they even had a cafeteria for bots to eat, I'm assuming something akin to Energon...

_________________________________________________________
Thruster:
Thruster was a cool base playset for me, I used to pretend this was their main Spaceship that crashed on earth, and I used ot have countless battles with my Transformers and Gobots defending cities from the impending Spaceship that Cy-Kill got working again, and was wreaking havoc on cities from above..

Thruster was different than the Command Center. It's main gimmick was the motion detector system at the base. A pretty unique feature and it does have a lot of play value.
The high points of the toy are..
Working Elevator
Motion Detector
Two Levels w/ Chairs
Trap Door Gripping Hand
Storage Case
the top most floor was where Cy-Kill would direct Crasher and Cop-tur in his new schems.. what was cool about that was that in the cartoon, the throne room of Cy-Kill looked exactly like that place!!!

I used to have this playset too, it was the official Guardians Headquarters!! the equivalant of the Ark from transformers.. a very nice wooden card toy.. sturdy and easily disassembled... Unlike the other Gobots playsets, this playset was produced by Silver Toy Company. It is all have sturdy board and come together nicely. has a elevator and a ramp, and is not to shabby overall. It is a difficult piece to find.
this designed piece never got it's release from Tonka, I imagine it would have been great....the Gobatron playset.. which is practically like them createing a Transformers Cybertron base for the toys..

Hasbro should really do some things like the Gobots..

I had the at-at like one. I think I tossed it
I still don't have a real at-at, I used that as a replacement. It's actually a really cool toy, and works great with the gobots.

Sadly I never had anything GoBots related, it was before my time, but I did see that At At Base thingy at a garage sale a couple of weekends ago, I just thought it was a Star Wars Knockoff!! Damn it! I could have gotten it for like 3.00! It looked to be in excellent condition too.

I'm hoping to do some customs of my v2 HMW team. But if Hasbro would do the repainting for me that would save me some trouble.

All you need really do is a simple repaint with some kind of yellow plastic glued on for the glasses over the eyes..
