Literary translation. More specifically, my project looks to create a critical manual for comics translation, focusing on Italian to English, and including sociolinguistics, cognitive stylistics, multimodal analysis, semiotics and various aspects of the brass tack mechanics of comics and translation. :D

I don't even know what these words mean, but you're saying you want to make it easier for people to translate comic books from Italian to English?

How indeed.

Scare acting: theme park worker, especially Halloween or horror-themed events, paid to ..well, scare people. Example below (I'm the one on the right).

More or less, yes. I just found it weird that there is a lot of academic writing on comics in translated publications (reception of them, distribution, amount of what is translated and what isn't) but nothing on how to translate them, except for one book that doesn't really do much. I'm focusing in particular on the problems in translating humour, cultural references, interaction between image and text, and interaction between texts and readers/fans as the disturbance/enabler for it all to work. More or less. :D

That's some pretty cool stuff, man. Keep up the good work, trying to change the way things are done...that's real progress. Nice!

And I figured as much about a scare actor, I've just never heard the term.

I work at a local sheltered workshop called RAI (Ruger Airpark Industries). Each day I usually place gun manuals and pouches inside white boxes. The products that I work with are kits of Mark III's and 1911's.

When there's downtime (and most of the time, there usually is) I place stickers on top of boxes and fold them together to make the four inch by eight inch boxes.

The bad thing is, I only get paid between seventy dollars and one hundred and twenty dollars every two weeks (depending on the changing rates they give out on the amount of work I do each pay period).

I'm a dispatcher at a boat company that services the petroleum industry in the Gulf of Mexico. I also repair electronics as a side gig,and I am currently working on the third draft of my (hopefully marketable) novel. Have an Associate's in Business Management, hope to go back to school one day, but until then, enjoying the best jobs I have.... being a Dad and a Grandparent. :APPLAUSE:

NOTHING. You transformed, stood there with your faceplate closed, and your optics sharp, just like everybody else who didn't have ball-jointed this, and swivel-jointed that. And when your were told to, you transformed and rolled out! ...And another thing...

That sounds like an amazing job to have! Is it as good as I imagine? And how has the advent of CGI sets effected your trade?

I sometimes get to meet people but i'm mainly in pre production so no actors are generally around during the build. Usually meet folks at the wrap parties. The Interview was the last good wrap party i went to. Seth is a pretty funny dude in person.

The advent of CGI has altered nothing. Busier than ever. THere are LOTS of productions not requiring CGI and the ones that do still need sets for the actors and stunt people to interact with.

Sounds great, It's good to know that CGI hasnt effected the use of talanted people like yourselves in film, set construction has always mesmerised me ever since I saw the making of "Rear Window" its amazing that entire apartment courtyard was a set.

Believe it or not when I worked at Disneyland that's what we did. Ride wasn't acting right get everyone out and power down then power back up! LOL Since they work on a computer system it makes sense.

Currently I'm an assistant manager at a Family Dollar. Too much responsibility and not enough pay. I hope to go back to Disney in a few years.

I'm a Certfied Culinarian, which is a fancy term for either a Line Cook or a Waiter with an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. The restaraunt industry is staying pretty safe in the economy, and I love food. Currently I am both a breakfast cook and a waiter, and being a waiter is way more fun for me. I love interacting with the guests, and my personality is pretty exuberant. Some people really don't enjoy being a server of food, as (a) you don't neccassarily make a living wage and (b) you have to put up with guests that can be a$$holes. For me being a single guy who's only real responsibility is a monthly car payment, it's great. And I make really good tips. But yes, some people are just barely sufferable. Like the ones that wanted a burger well done but not burned, and refused to eat the perfect burger upon recieving it, and then entirely skipped dinner because of a single dissatisfying item even thout the rest of their family had a three-course meal. And on top of that, after I brought them their alcohol, they didn't tip.

But other than those people, it's fun.

I have trouble keeping up at work. I have problems finding bugs in the code because there's so much to read and understand, so many new features coming out all the time. My co-workers want to crush me; they don't respect me. I feel overwhelmed

My "job title" Warehouseman. But I work in a chemical plant which does a fair amount of distribution, storage, and blending. I work in the bulk department where I load and offload trucks and railcars with (literally) tonnes of chemicals. We also do quite a lot of blending (mainly in the production department), but bulk handles airplane deicer and (I actually) make one of the components for spray foam insulation for a local company.

Before that, I worked in a drywall warehouse building orders and forklifting, and before that i worked pretty much from 14-21 in restaurants.
