That would be either TNG or Voyager, right?sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:but its not the "trek" with the most diverse crew.

Ground-breaking.
Kirk and Uhura shared the first inter-racial kiss.

RAR wrote:Sisko is not really half Prophet as such he is more "Influenced by them" or came about as a result of their actions. His mother wasn't actually a Prophet/ wormhole alien in a physical sense she was possessing Sisko's mother to ensure the birth happened how they foresaw it to happen in their non-linear way.
As soon as Ben's Mom gave birth the Alien departed her - that is why his Mom didn't stick around long afterwards as she felt no particular connection to them as she was either not-present or less present for Ben's dad's courtship and such so her husband was a stranger to her.
A bit tragic really. "However" if you want to wander off into the Novels Ben's Daughter Rebecca seems to be more overtly Prophet influenced she has some slight non-linear perception ability it seems... this may be take to suggest that what ever influence they had on Ben can be passed on to a child - either because they chose it to be or via some DNA change to Ben - but Ben reads as Human so they say.. so I guess you are getting into the realms of mysticism now.

sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:the way i see it, Sisko being considered a "half Prophet" is not debatable.
Sara was not really "His mother" she was an incubator at best, she was the vessel used to carry Ben, but his true mother was actually the Prophet/ wormhole alien that possessed Sara Sisko.
btw, are those books good?

RAR wrote:Look at it this way Is Picard still Borg ?
The reason I say Sisko isn't "Half" Prophet is he isn't he reads genetically as human in all tests done on him - they say as much on the show more than once - they do however say he has some small energy traces that shows an influence on him - but it's layered on top of his humanity not a replacement for it - he's not a Genetic Hybrid like Troi or Spock or Selar.
That said Human children of the "Gods" (like Apollo) read as 100% human too and they are not. So leave that as under the heading of "other" for the time being but Sisko is definitely 'not' a Hybrid in the traditional Genetic sense.
As for the books - the Bajoran Religious stuff drags a bit but it's good in parts I enjoy Rom, Nog, Odo, Quark, Sisko & Ro for the most part the general politics stuff is good too. I am looking at the clock a bit for some of the Kira related parts - you kind of wish they'd get to the point a bit quicker than they do.
The new Voyager Books are much better tight and well paced with very well realised Characters - though perhaps Belanna is a little wet sometimes & Chakotay is a bit variable. The extended Fleet cast are for the most part excellent - Though Janeway's boss is a complete dick.
Most of the Post TNG books are OK Picard and Beverly are great ; funny and cute. Everyone else is a bit under developed though.
The Titan Books have so far been good especially the ones leading up to the big Borg / Caeliar story arc.
If I have one criticism it is getting a little odd that there seems to be a consistent theme in many of the books of mental illness, grief and psychotherapy - and that isn't even anything to do with Troi.
I don't mind the subject matter but it does seems a bit odd to retread the same themes with Janeway, Picard, Geordi, & Tuvok - even the Doctor to some extent in close succession.
You do sometime think "Can we all stop talking about our feeling now please and - you know do something ?".
Anyway in General Star Trek Books are a lot better written than Star Wars ones are just lately. If I have any excitement at all for a New Star Trek TV show it's because of my enjoyment of the books in part - as well as hoping that maybe this time - someone might actually merchandise Star Trek properly this time.

I really enjoyed Shatner's Trek books, right up until the captains blood series anyway.

RAR wrote:Data is likely designed to have some limits on his intelligence as didn't his dad say the other colonists didn't like the previous androids (especially Law) you can sort of see examples of his tinkering with the intelligence level if you count B4 - but he may be an idiot as he was turned off when he was pretty young so never had the chance to evolve into more - but they suggest he was not capable of that and his positronic brain was a failure.
I would guess that means there is a limit on Data's intelligence too - but obviously he is still smarter than humans usually are and is likely superior to most Organic beings in terms of raw calculation. But he has lost out to organic beings in the past even if he eventually won out by other means.
From 1:07 mark.
