Judging by his description of the figure falling apart after buying it, I think he bought a KO. Those late G1 figures, started showing up as KOs in dollar stores and such in the early 2000s. I have quite a few of the Sonokong figures and this is the only one I've seen that was from the G1 line.

Aside from the surprising appearance from the "Galaxy Defender" line, I can't recall ever seeing KO toys at mass retail places like Walmart. I've only seen them at discount stores (i.e. - Big Lots) and dollar stores.

Which brings it to 55$US, which is almost 10$ more expensive than its current going rate at its main distributer Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Plat ... s+platinum
In canadian dollars, that shipped chmungmung price comes out to 72.50$, which is exactly what it is currently going for on amazon.ca: http://www.amazon.ca/TRANSFORMERS-Plati ... s+platinum

Not too shabby, but Chimungmung's shipping may be lower for Europe, Australia, or Asia. Meaning a much better deal for them.

From my experience, Amazon seems to have some sort of algorithm where they are very in tune with the demand. I believe their Thundercracker stock to be finite (just a hunch) and thus it was only down in price since few people were buying. Now that the excess stock is sold, I doubt it will go back down below 30$. I am waiting or those to be 30$ in canada. Jetfire was 30$ last year but none of the leaders have gone that low yet for us.

Cobotron's advice is great, but I have a counter: What you can buy today might be more expensive tomorrow. People have spent a lot of money catching up on TFs. Even for things you wouldnt think about like AOE Scorn.
Ask Kanrabat about that special edition Cybertron Primus he bought.
PS: I have a graduate degree and still cant afford all the TFs I want.

Huh, hopefully a fortune

Dang, $30 for a Scorn. wow. I really want a classics Rodimus cause that is such a good looking Rodimus and I want a proper sized one yet they are so expensive and I just can't justify buying it. But yeah, I'll get TC soon. Really want him.
And: Kanrabat how much did you spend on a Primus and how much did Confucius buy metroplex for?

Cant wait for those answers. I too want rodimus but there is no way I am paying what they are asking for. Cobotron knows, I have a system for getting the most of my collecion with minimal regret and money. If there is something you really want (in my case it would be the TAV Grimlock), don't hesitate. But if there is something you dont really care for (in my case it woud be Armada megatron), I can wait for a discount. Like that I never pay the price I dont deem it to be worth and if ever it never goes on sale or I miss it, no worries, I didnt care that mch for it in the end. BUT if there is a toy you really want, dont wait. He might go down in price a bit more later but in the log run ( at most 2 years), the toy will cost more to buy mint than whatever you bought it for.
And there is something else we are ignoring here, the sooner you get a toy, the sooner you get to play with it and pose it on your shelf. That's an added value that has no monetary equivalent and it can be worth the extra 5$ or so spent to have him sooner rather than later. That is thebiggest factor with me getting Shockwave next year rather than waiting for a Hasbro version. There are some things money cant buy.

I agree with this. I get the characters I really want, and if the character gets on sale that I kinda wanted but wasn't really into i'll get it. For instance: I just got RiD Steeljaw for $10 on ebay with free shipping, so that'll be cool.
I also love how you say money cant buy everything. I love finding a figure in store cause i can buy it right there, take it home and play with it. Shipping makes me antsy and impatient, as does waiting. You speak to be Will. You sir are a great character

For thoses who wanna know, I began collecting TFs at the time of HFTD, the end of Revenge of the Fallen. At the time, the Canadain $ as around 1:1. So, any $ conversion is moot. All were brand new at full regular price. With maybe a little markup for the seller.
So, here's my best Buy it NOW TFs on top of memory:
2010 Creator Primus. It was just a 20-30$ $ more sealed than a loose Original and I prefered it's colors. It was 160$ shipped from Japan, meaning 100$ plus 60$ for shipping alone. It was a HUGE box. No cusom fees. Now, it's worth around 400$ to 500$ with very few available. Plus shipping, of course.
"Amazon" Unicron. 90$ shipped. The minicon have 2 left feet but heh, watcha kanna do? Now: around 150-200$ plus ship.
YOTS Platinum Omega Supreme. 130$ shipped from BBTS. Now it's 200-300$ plus shipping. (One clown try for 600$ but he dosent count)
Costco Exclusive Battle Ops Bumblebee GOLD edition. 90$ shipped (Some Americans got it for 20$!!!) Now, it's an insane 150$ used or 300$+ sealed! Plus shipping, obviously.
I also had my fair share of other incredible deals with some used stuff, but the point here are the stuff bought now at full price. If you REALLY WANT a figure, don't wait. Get it now, even at full price. That way, you are sure not to miss out. From my personal experience, buying now gave me more wins than fails. Biggest fails being Takara's MP-11 and buying DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime early. Those two were major fails, but the wins FAR outweight the fails.
So, you want it? DONT WAIT!

While I do find it too bad that some people's peferred channel for discounts doesnt have new stock (I can totally identify with that, I miss Lena!), there is a silver lining in HTS not being as stocked as usual. From observation, they seem to have Hasbro's backstock, or extra stock and are a second tier second party distributer (meaning that their partnership is exclusive, but they are still indepdenent and are not a first tier retailers/distributors,unlike TRU, Walmart and Target, and thus get left overs). So, them not being stocked now means that the first tier distributors (who have priority) are buying most of what Hasbro is producing in terms of TFs and probably buying more, leaving little extra stock. And those orders are due to sales, which means this CW line is doing pretty darn well for retailers. Their sales report even confirmed this saying TFs were doing better than usual for a non movie year. That is excellent news to the brand since it means that TF toys can do well enough without extra market reinforcement (which we all know was initially needed in the form of the G1 TV show and subsequent shows).
That means the brand and the type of toy is selling itself simply by existing and beig on the shelves, and that is awesome

Word up Will. I was just goofing how the promos don't seem to match with available stock. Kinda how TRU hangs BoGo deals on empty pegs.
I totally stalk HTS to pick off the stragglers.
