IIRC, there was some explanation given about that when the figure was first shown off in one of the Hasbro livestreams.Emerje wrote:RodimusPrimeUkraine1 wrote:Rumble´s alt mode could be better, so I wonder how it looks from the other side. Starting to reconsider my positive opinion on the little twice the price minion. At least he might have a waist swivel and comes with the piledrivers.
My issue with his alt mode is that they put the reels in the wrong spot for no good reason. It's a nitpicky thing, but they're too high sculpted around his shoulder joint pins, they should be sculpted around his 5mm hex ports.

Even with that hiccup I'd say he's worth it to have an articulated Rumble with better size and proportions than the Micromasters. I look forward to snagging him.
Ironhide is very frustrating... He seems unnecessarily complicated, his design overthought; the end result feels like a massive missed opportunity.
Ironhide's animation model is actually pretty close to the toy, same for Ratchet, moreso than they tend to get credit for. It's basically the toy's robot mode with a head stuck on, the shoulders raised to windshield height, and gaps filled in.
Given this, and what the WFC Deluxes achieved, a Voyager could have and should have been used to do more than essentially "Earthrise but with integrated vannette roof & real vannette back".
By doing the battle sled, they could have easily pulled off an accurate Ironhide while having to jump through far fewer engineering hoops, and delivered more play value at the same time. They could perhaps even have made the battle sled a weaponizer thing (with the van shell halves detaching to be shields or feet add-ons, for example)! And it would at long last have completely supplanted the Tow-Line retools from 16 years ago. But alas...
IMO, unless it can somehow be salvaged with a heavy retool... they should recoup the costs of this attempt with a Deseeus release and just try again with a new mold for Ratchet.

Maybe it does. There's nothing that...functional on Spike or Wheelie, which is what I'm basing my opinion on.
What I think is realistic in terms of what they're going to do and what I would like are two different things.

Yeah no sh**, I'm not arguing with your point that moving piledrivers was likely out of budget for a core class. I'm also not outraged or knocking on the brand or anything. Im pretty sure I'm allowed to be a little bummed about a gimmick I was hopeful the toy would have without having to read some snarky comment about masterpiece and some corny one-liner you were waiting for an excuse to use. Thanks for the lecture though professor perceptor

I think he looks great, love the way the figure looks. Some elbow joints would've been nice but the rest is pretty nice. I'd hoped since he's smaller than other core class figures there'd be opportunity for moving piledrivers but im getting the figure either way. I hope they do Ravage as well, the siege/netflix version is pretty bad. Especially compared to the core class bumblebee movie Ravage, though that figure is much larger

Re: Studio Series 86 Discussion
keeping things in perspective the figure is $11.99 which is closer to $12 for a figure that's only 2.5", while both Halo and Fortnite figures are 4" at $13 an doffer quite a bit more for the price. So if these were still $8 then maybe I'd forgive non working piledrivers but at $12 I'd expect a little more. Plus it doesn't actually cost that much for it to make a sliding cylinder.
That said, it's not like we should have expected it considering Perceptor's telescope doesn't either.
The thing is I can live with that because it was never going to be a working telescope in the first place, yet for Rumble it could have very simple to offer. So this is a bit of sad news for me and after the Cosmos debacle makes me not want to even bother getting it. And if costs were an issue why not wait on Rumble and just include him with working piledrivers in a higher priced set later on.
I get that's it's not a real major issue compared to some in terms of Transformers in general but these little extras/perks really are what should be making this line special. After all you know they'll just repaint this mold a dozen times to get their money back.

Just found SS86 Ironhide at Target in Canton. He's a little loose in the joints, but the best likeness of the cartoon design to date. He just needs his yellow stripe. Let's see what Reprolabels can cook up for him.

The lack of elbows on Rumble is a bit of a bummer, but on a tiny figure like that it's a tolerable tradeoff for not having gimpy forearms (which is the only way they could have made room for the joint, due to length limits imposed by the tape mode and his shoulders being ball sockets). Speaking of his tape mode, I get why the spool details are where they are: it's to align with the pec details like they do on the G1, and because they'd be cut off if they aligned with the 3mm ports (either by the head slot or by the ports themselves). It does mean they're wonkily placed in tape mode, admittedly, but such is the price of having to fit in WFC Soundwave's chest (which makes the pecs not be vertically centered like they are on the G1).
The piledrivers look like they could potentially have been made molded such that the piston heads' pegs were free to slide in and out, but I don't know how satisfying that would have been. And it's not like the current 3P piledriver offerings are any better lol, from what I've seen on eBay.
Crazydevy's piledrivers for the G1 toys were another story, IIRC, but those have been out of production for a long time.
Agree about wanting both a Ravage do-over and more tapes for Blaster. Retooling the crummy SIEGE Ravage into Steeljaw might work, the hindlegs are somewhat right for it if nothing else.
Also, he's clearly a pilot release for doing cassettes at the Core price point. Relegating him to a larger set would kiiiinda undercut that.
He's not perfect, but he's better-proportioned than SIEGE Rumble, and he's got better accessory value for $ than trying to kit out the SIEGE version with 3P accessories would be.

Keeping things in perspective, Halo and Fortnite figures aren't transforming robots. That's always made Transformers pricier for their size and what they come with. Although I do think in hindsight, Hasbro have been trying to squeeze a bit too much growth out of the brand with the price bumps over the past couple years. Especially after seeing what's happened to their sales.Till-all-R1 wrote:keeping things in perspective the figure is $11.99 which is closer to $12 for a figure that's only 2.5", while both Halo and Fortnite figures are 4" at $13 an doffer quite a bit more for the price. Yes and no. Given that the piston head is a separate piece from the sleeve as it is, they could indeed have molded the piledrivers such that the sleeve end had an unblocked hole that the peg for the piston head could freely slide back and forth through. But idk how satisfying that would have been (even if they did the pegs like the posts on tab-in wheels, just longer), and much more than that would require making the sleeves be two pieces each. I suppose you could mold the sleeve with an open notch and add a less-costly extra piece in the form of the peg itself being separate and sort of L-shaped (so that it could stick out through the notches and used to slide the head up and down), but that would likely still be pushing it. Fully-enclosed spring-powered piledrivers were never remotely in reach.Till-all-R1 wrote:Plus it doesn't actually cost that much for it to make a sliding cylinder.
...Can you please explain why it is you considered Rumble - a Core-class figure - having working piledrivers more likely than Perceptor - a Deluxe-class figure - having a working scope? Especially since Titans Return Perce had one?Till-all-R1 wrote:That said, it's not like we should have expected it considering Perceptor's telescope doesn't either.

What is the "Cosmos debacle"? Only debacle I'm aware of with him is just Mall Wart grossly underestimating demand.Till-all-R1 wrote:So this is a bit of sad news for me and after the Cosmos debacle makes me not want to even bother getting it.
Maybe because most people would rather have static piledrivers than have to buy a larger, higher-priced set to get him? I know that's how I feel. They'd be nice and no mistake, but not nice enough to be worth having to buy a larger set to get hold of him.Till-all-R1 wrote:And if costs were an issue why not wait on Rumble and just include him with working piledrivers in a higher priced set later on.

You know hasbro is stingy these days. What you want requires more parts and thus a bigger budget than what is given to the team for this one. So sure, MP budget could give it to you.

And at that point, you might as well just go buy the MP itself.william-james88 wrote:Razorbeast88 wrote:sol magnus wrote:Razorbeast88 wrote:Nemesis Destron wrote:Mister Patriot Prime Reviews posted the review of Core Class Rumble.

It definitely could, but so could the figure being part of a larger multipack or being bumped up to deluxe class, or being released in gen selects at a slightly higher price point. Jumping straight to masterpiece was being purposely condescending. I'm not some angry karen asking for the moon and the stars at a core class price point, I was a little bummed that the piledrivers don't move. I'm still happy with the figure as is, love that he has his guns, the drivers, the guns can be on the back or arms, the headsculpt and paintjob looks great, etc

I'm quite happy that they're showing they can do better cassettes - including taller humanoids - within the tape mode size constraints imposed by size they chose to make SIEGE Soundwave's chest compartment, and I look forward to what will follow in SS86 Rumble's wake.
My biggest question is whether the black-and-red release will be called "Frenzy", or "Rumble (Red)"

I’m with you that it’s disappointing that the piledrivers don’t have moving parts.
It doesn’t matter whatever variables people want to try and throw out there, or if this should’ve been expected.
It’s still disappointing.

My biggest disappointment with SS86 remains Hot Rod. Not that he's unworthy of being Voyager price, the engineering complexity justifies that for sure. I just think it was a significant misstep to not use that engineering budget to make the arms incorporate the rear fenders and have the hands retract into the taillights (as per the animation transformation). Would have done wonders for the rear of the car mode, and probably averted the need for the delicate tabs on the arm pipes.
