Autobot Genocide wrote:I'm not sure what it is but 3rdps are creating a new scale with the voyager sized figures , for me it's perfect as it fits my classics and if need be MP ... it's a fine line as most are a tad smaller if not the same size as Hegemon but then you wouldn't have Hegemon in your MP collection , it works for me .
What it is is that they are running out of "gaps" to fill in classics collections. Now theyre trying to encourage collectors to replace their hasbro figures altogether by using size as the selling point. Im not buying into it. Most of the vintage G1 autobot cars were deluxe scale anyways. In some cases the deluxe classics upgrade was taller than the vintage toy. I like to reserve voyager scale for high ranking characters in a faction. Hasbro has never had a problem delivering us those characters in voyager scale. So for me this whole new trend is overkill and alot of money saved.

Or some stuff for continuities outside G1. A decent ROTF Devastator would be real nice, guys. Or how about a replacement tail and shield for Leader Grimlock that gives him better looking dino mode and awesome-er weapons?

I'm with you on this. I'm happy with my swarm of Autobot deluxes. I don't necessarily need to dip into 3rd Parties for characters Hasbro has already done.
I could use a few larger Decepticons, but right now they're fairly well represented. I have no interest in a 3rd Party Astrotrain or any non-Combiner related voyagers... I think ManiaKing is as far as I'm willing to go as far as stand alone characters are concerned.

Happy that 3rd parties are making more and more bigger toys. As this pleases some fans who like the bigger scaled toys.

Examples, 2.0 Powerglide, 2.0 Onslaught and 2.0 Silverbolt all getting the eight inch Ultra scaled toys. While 2.0 Galvatron, 2.0 Cyclonus and RTS-G G-1 Scourge all got deluxe scaled toys. RTS-G Seaspray getting a Voyager toy while 1.0 Grimlock and RTS-G Thunderwing got deluxe toys.
The Seekers in the 1984 to 1985 cartoon series were shown a scale or Two bigger than the regular 1984 to 1985 Autobots cars-bots in cartoon series. So correctly scaled CHUG toys that match the G-1 cartoon would of had the CHUG Seekers being Voyager scale while the Chug regular cars-bots got Deluxe toys.
CHUG Astrotrain and CHUG Blitzwing need to be the same toy scale. Not one bigger and the other smaller. Think CHUG Astrotrain got the wrong scaled toy as Astrotrain in all modes was shown a scale or Two bigger than the Regular Autobots cars-bots in the 1980's TF cartoon series.
If Chug was trying to create toys based off their 1980's cartoon appearances scale. Then 1.0 Jetfire would have been Two plus toy scales bigger than 1.0 Voyager Optimus and 1.0 Voyager Megatron.
Having the 30th Insecticons at the Legends toy scale is vastly wrong if one if buying CHUG toys based off the 1980's cartoon appearances compared to other characters scale in the cartoons. Correctly scaled CHUG Insecticons would be Deluxe-Voyager scale not Legends toy scale.
I can list over 100 plus wrongly scaled CHUG toys but won't do so. As I don't have the time to do so and some know what most of them are anyways.

The complexity and quality of a figure is only limited by the budget, not its size. Now we are getting legends scale figures with deluxe class engineering that cost 50 bucks a pop. Maybe if you were willing to take the plunge and buy maketoys quantron you would debunk your theory about smaller figures having less parts and poor engineering. Also some of the movie line deluxe class figures were among the most complex ever such as ROTF rampage and breakaway.

i dont think many people will base an entire collection around 3P products simply for scale, besides it would take forever. hastak gives us 15ish figures every quarter between various lines, no way any one 3P company can compete with that. and then do you mix and match between 3P's? what if THEIR scales dont match eachother? hell, aesthetics rarely ever match between companies.

You need to give the Classics line more leeway. We wouldn't have the modern Generations line without Classics, and most of those toys were simply fantastic.Tsutsukakushi wrote:Scale complaints.
By all means, criticize the scale discrepancies of figures that came out 8 years apart...Tsutsukakushi wrote:CHUG Astrotrain and CHUG Blitzwing need to be the same toy scale. Not one bigger and the other smaller.

I know scale's a losing game, but my current movie mix actually looks rather nice together.

If i count almost 3 complete movie collections then yeah the tables turn .
This new voyager height / MP scale whatever it is , it is taking over the deluxe scale there's not too many 3rdp figures being made to scale with hasbros smaller deluxes .
I think there's only FP/MT really concentrating on smaller figures for that group.
Personally i'm loving the voyagers it's my preferred height a good 6-7" not just transformers but figures from any toy line (i blame NECA) unless it's 80/90's vintage
But yeah between MP and 3rdp i can honestly see hasbro classic deluxe being a thing of the past in my collection , i will still buy deluxe but it will be for say minibots , fembots , the fuction x line not many will pass before long though .

Well, maybe the size. In a deluxe at $60 I'd be sorely tempted. I definitely like the look and engineering...

Their Gears went from 70 to 30, or even 25 at some places. Maybe this will hit clearance, too.

I had to go back and look. I thought they has missed the "L" not the "C".
I feel an Urban Dictionary entry would be appropriate here.

Think that's a high price to pay for a 6.2 inch tall SXS Blurr 3rd party in between size classes deluxe-Voyager toy.
