I didn't notice this until I just read the original article again, but that price of 18,000jpy is already the MSRP without tax. The taxed price, which is what Amazon originally posted and can also be seen on AmiAmi, was 19,800jpy. Like everyone else, I haven't seen it priced at $135, maybe it was for just a few minutes? The current price I'm getting is $142, which I think is a good price.

Are you seeing 16592 JPY as the price? That's the price I'm seeing, but that converts to $148 according to google.

Wanna something that suck more? Try ordering from Mexico....

Does this revelation of the Trainbots and positive response give a higher chance of Hasbro making a possible commander class JRX? Or even a set of 3 leaders that combine?

And once pulse comes around, you'll see that Amazon is all that's really left.pulse is gonna charge you no less than 160 for this plus whatever shipping or tax is applicable.

Shipping is Free on Pulse (for U.S, residents anyway) for all orders over $50. So yeah, I'd say $145 USD (before tax) on Pulse is the *magic* number, any more, then yes Amazon.jp will be the better deal.

Yeah, that 16592 includes tax.
Here's the price I see when I enter it in my cart:
So 135 USD baby!
Isn't this reveal the 1st step toward that? Or am I misunderstanding how big this train figure is?Hellscream9999 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Anyway...sort of back on topic...

I think with this selling well in japan, and v.saber blown past its original goal, I think this tells hasbro that victory et al is on the table as something we want, there's literally no economic downside to sprinkling in some obscure Japanese figures into the legacy line, they are a after all a big part of the tf legacy, but it might be a little early to see a titan class raiden

Also, I was asking what you guys thought the chances of getting an update of the train bots from Car Robots is after this was revealed.

Not as big as you may think. Raiden has some pedigree to him, while JRX/Rail Racer doesn't as much thanks to Car Robots not being that popular. Also, don't forget that TakaraTomy has Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, which features contemporary trains like J5/Railspike's 500 Series Nozomi.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.
JelZe was talking about the perspective of these characters in Japan, not the U.S.First-Aid wrote:Jelze Bunnycat wrote:

I have disagree entirely. I consider myself a fairly educated Transformers collector. I've got over 5,000 figures. Yet the train bots are not nearly as well known to me as the Rail Racer RiD1 figures. Maybe I'm the aberration but RiD was actually ON TV in the US, while the trainbots were NOT. Frankly, I was hoping that we'd be looking at a MP Rail Racer rather than what we are getting. I think we'd be getting more of our money's worth with the Rail Racer team. I feel like this is a HUGE gamble by TakaraTomy.

Yup, Takara doesn't think of the market outside Japan for their initiatives. This set is pretty awesome for them since it interests several different hobby audiences at once and the fact that this toy is number 1 on Amazon means it's working.
And Sabrblade, to answer your question, I think people were always going to complain about the price, regardless of the character. We've seen it happen time and time again ever since Dinobot, prices on MPs have gone really high it's more of a surprise when it's lower like Skids. Here we have a licenced train bot MP that has 3 modes and is priced between MP Blackarachnia and Tgatron. The only reason why this complaint is more apparent is because buying this one toy means buying 5 others so the high price stings more than usual. I mean, it should have been obvious from the onset but now people are seeing it officially and realize what it actually means to have an MP combiner.
I knew this would be coming so I was never invested in this news. I swore off the MP line in general aside from the BW MPs, prices have gone very high and I have the same satisfaction from WFC figures when it comes to G1 characters (plus, I have no space for these MP boxes).

That's Hasbro's fault for making people think that when we've had any number of Japanese characters in the line. We already know we have Black Zarak and Minerva coming next year and that has nothing to do with Victory Saber.

Which, ironically, was a completely different Hasbro team from the one that's been giving us all these Japanese characters in the past two trilogies, especially since that older team was from the Archer Era that explicitly lacked that much knowledge of Japanese Transformers fiction (and thus cared little about it).ZeroWolf wrote:(and nods such as how Universe Cyclonus could connect with his target master which was straight from the Headmasters cartoon)
