Haven't got the original (do have Kabaya!) to compare to so can't really tell if it's a step up or not.

But overall, he seems to be lacking the MP feel to me.

I have the G1 toy and the MP is basically a step up with joints and proper details.

Having looked through the instructions, I've come to the conclusion that both hilts can be held by Saber/Star Saber for the Saber blade. I also feel that the smaller, preformed one is meant to be more cartoon accurate. If you look at the pictures in the instruction book and videos online the sword overall seems to be of a more "normal" size, with the hilt being much smaller than the cockpit. This could be a page out of the SOC play book where you can have a perfect transformation, then swap parts for a more cartoon look.

I got my Star Saber from HLJ a few hours ago and it's pretty awesome! Unfortunately it had obviously been previously opened (double tape in all the right places) and transformed (paint missing from the wing tips and one V-Star arm put back wrong). Not a real big deal because the tape was going to be cut and the wing tip paint was going to rub off anyway. (I happen to transform my Transformers. The ironing is delicious.) But it kind of soured the excitement as I went through all the paces looking for, 'what's broken? why was this guy returned already?'
Minor paint blemishes aside, very minor, I haven't found anything wrong with it.
The End

Star Saber is SUCH a transforming Gundam and I have no problem with that. The little Yuki Brain of Courage is the pilot in the Saber jet and fits in the chest just like a Gundam pilot and he merges with the V-Star completing the look.

I don't have the original Victory Saber (wish I did) to compare against but the die cast in Star Saber's feet are totally connection ports.
I cannot wait for Victory Leo.
Gimme now!

You can lodge a complaint with hlj. Why'd it be pre opened in the first place?

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Got mine today, all I've fooled around with is Saber and that's just because of how awesome the figure is. One complaint I have is how the arms/hands are molded. They end in a slight curve that's not noticeable until you put the Saber gun in one of the hands. Saber unfortunately cannot hold the blaster straight with out bending the arm oddly. The left hand can hold it slightly better but if you're going cartoon accurate, Saber always held the gun in its right hand; at least from what I've seen. I've yet to try the sword since I've never seen Saber hold it, but I can say right now that the lack of ball jointed wrists is a crime, since that will limit the type of dynamic sword poses you can do. Tomorrow V-Star! Speaking of which I find it funny that no reviewers I've seen thus far have pulled out the battle station mode. Yes it's just the V-Star doing the splits but it's almost a trademark of Transformers from this era. Also I thought it was interesting to see an early design of SS that looked like it heavily drew from Macross. Apparently either way Star Saber was going to draw from one Bandai property or another.

Even his RM version, you can pull of othe battle station of sorts.

That I knew. The fact that there were pegs for Saber to stand on, I did not.

See the resemblance? Its indeed a homage to the core booster of the RX-78 Gundam Core Fighter.

:-( My Exhaust still negatory..........

Back to Star Saber. Tracks comes with Raul but no Jean Minakaze? Those two were like joined in the hip Dad and son like the 1970-80s flick "Shogun Assassin"/ Lonewolf and Cub. Minor bellyaching in my part.

The Fedex Tracking site, Says my MP Starsaber package will arrive this Saturday. Speculating it'll arrive Monday. ;)

Agree with some of what Burn is saying. Would have preferred more Articulation on the Smaller Voyager class robot. Like articulated fingers and More articulation in the spreading hips.

For the bigger Twelve inch tall Starsaber robot. Would have like more range of movement in the spreading hips. As I remember the G1 toy had legs that split all the way.

Image

While it's only a 2 inch tall Brainmaster. Would have liked the engine sculpting on the back of the robot that the G1 version had.

Well, this is my first MP since Megatron. I love it, and I love him. Saber is a very nice fit into my CLassics/Generations figures (I don't do toyline shelves) and the combined robot form is HUGE!! I can't wait to get some new Leaders to compare that thing.

I agree, it feels like Brick at first, Its big, and blocky, and heavy and plastic, but I think the RObot mode more than makes up. And Saber is a downright awesome figre. I don't require a complicated transformation, so long as it gets it done. Classics Bee, for example, or Jazz. I do think that on any other figure, Saber's Nosecone shield beign removable would be a cheat. But for this, it's an homage and a cool look.

And yes, there are abvious slots and a square peg in those feet.

Minor gripe, I wish the shoulderpads had some kind of weapon under them, Overload style missile batteries, something. Its completely against Star Saber's Character, but he's got them in his shoulder tops.

Also, is there a place to store the small sword hilt? I've found a place for everything else, but not that.

Hey, it's not cheating if it's accurate to how it works in the show! [-(

In vehicle mode, the small hilt stores at the rear end of the blue backpack piece. There's a round peg, you can't miss it. The only thing that doesn't have a dedicated storage would be the long sword hilt.

If anything, the only gripe I have against him is that his sword loses the G1 gimmick of sticking the hilt into his saber blade to pull it out of his back. That was freaking cool. Though dual-wielding evens that out for me

Well, it worked for Energon Megatron, right?

I'm fine with stashing the long hilt in the back scabbard still attached to the sword. It sticks up a LOT but it works. And of course, it's on his shoulder in Saber form, and the jetnose, so I think its taken care of. I wouldn't mind a place to hang his shield either, but hey.

And number 2 is a role play toy. I remember doing research on SS back in the day when I got my G1 set and Victory was like the most popular of the 3 Japanese original G1 series.

I saw pics online that showed the V-Star can assume the battle station mode

Also I did some checking with my set today, that smaller hilt is meant to be a more show accurate hilt. The long blade can plug into it just fine.

Please can someone post pics of how wide the bigger combiner Starsaber robot can spread it's legs. If it can spread the legs all the way like that G1 Starsaber base mode pic, Love to see a pic of the MP version in base mode Spreading it's legs all the way.

Think Hasbro has more input on the MP TF toy line than some realize. Think Takara is more inclined to listen to Hasbro's request. As Hasbro gets more units out of the TF toys than Takara does. As Hasbro distributes TF toys all around the world. More countries than Takara Distributes TF toys to.

Guessing the reason why Takara Started making those smaller MP TF Voyagers cars bots and MP Deluxe Bumblebee. Was Probably due to Hasbro telling Takara they are having a hard time trying to convince stores to stock and sell the much bigger MP TF toys. Hasbro probably told Takara about store shelf space and the high price for the bigger toys being a problem with stores.

The main reason I bought the Takara TF MP-22 and MP-24. Was due to me guessing it's going to be hard for Hasbro. To convince TRU and other stores worldwide to carry MP-22 and MP-24. due to the shelf space required and the hefty price tag. Also with TRU USA stores almost charging import sites prices for MP TF toys, Didn't want to wait another year or Two for the Hasbro versions.

Think if Hasbro asked Takara to Make a MP TF Leader class G1 Galvatron toy. Takara would make one. Think Takara wants to make a MP G1 Galvatron toy. but has no time to do so. As i'm guessing Takara is overloaded with Hasbro's request to keep making more MP TF Voyager class cars bots toys.

Thanks for these pics. It's great to see the bigger toy can spread the legs all the way.
Also great to see the bigger robot toy has bending knees and sideways knees.

Didn't realize MP-24 was that much taller than MP-22. Think KFC Citizen Stacks and MP-24 might be a similar robot height.

Please can you post another pic showing how much of a sitting pose the bigger combiner Starsaber robot can get. Please also a pic showing how far one leg can extend forward.

Starsaber ruled the week! Let's say Go! :APPLAUSE:

Hoping this is enough to give a potential Masterpiece Victory Leo. The green light in getting made into a toy.

 Knowing HasTak they'll ignore these sales figures. Instead they'll make more Masterpiece Voyager Class cars bots toys. The time HasTak get around to releasing one. It'll be almost Two years from now.

Still waiting on a Masterpiece G1 Galvatron. To face off against MP-09, MP-10 and MP-22. Fear it'll be Three years more or never till I see one made.

I think you are unfairly lumping Takara Tomy with Hasbro tsu. The MP series is technically Takara Tomy's baby.

Here are my pics btw and the "base" mode.

Those base mode pics aren't mine btw. Posing pics request? Will try later as I'm busy oggling such a piece of MP plastic "crack" :x

I'm getting annoyed now... FedEx just changed my delivery date for SS to Wednesday, even though the tracking info puts the shipment less than 45 min away, and my Exhaust hasn't been shipped yet. I need my plasti-crack!

My package arrived today at around 12:30 pm.

Been Tracking my Fedex MP Starsaber package online for a few days. When the Fedex tracking site stated my package would arrive today. I had my doubts as I've been through this with the UPS and USPS. Was guessing my package would arrive monday. As the UPS and USPS only deliver One maybe Two days Express mail on Saturday. Was a bit surprised to see Fedex do what the others don't.

From my understanding by calling these shipping providers on the phone and looking at their sites. UPS and USPS package delivery workers only work half of a day on Saturday. Don't know if Fedex package delivery workers work a half or a full day on Saturday.

And number 2 is a role play toy. I remember doing research on SS back in the day when I got my G1 set and Victory was like the most popular of the 3 Japanese original G1 series.

Tsutsukakushi wrote:For the bigger Twelve inch tall Starsaber robot. Would have like more range of movement in the spreading hips. As I remember the G1 toy had legs that split all the way.

While it's only a 2 inch tall Brainmaster. Would have liked the engine sculpting on the back of the robot that the G1 version had.

I saw pics online that showed the V-Star can assume the battle station mode

Please can someone post pics of how wide the bigger combiner Starsaber robot can spread it's legs. If it can spread the legs all the way like that G1 Starsaber base mode pic, Love to see a pic of the MP version in base mode Spreading it's legs all the way.

Taken out of context that last line could sound SO wrong!

Tsutsukakushi wrote:Think Hasbro has more input on the MP TF toy line than some realize.

If Hasbro asked for the smaller cars why is it that almost 4 years since Sideswipe we've only seen Prowl on shelves? Almost the same box size as Acid Storm too.
