In my case, this is already a sure buy for me.

That new pic ever reinforces my want for the figure. That serrated double blade weapon of his.........send shivers to my legs. :grin:

From the looks of it, the prime part is going to provide the 2 head parts for the 2 super mode.

And we have names to boot: Dai-Kenzan and Dai-Gekisou. More importantly, Prime plays second fiddle for once in both combinations!

That Optimus is all over the place, it makes me dizzy, lol, but I do give the designer some credit for the creativeness to make Optimus into what looks like some sort of spiked melee weapon :lol:

Urgh.

I actually think these things are getting worse. Train mode is just a shell. Robot mode has an awning on his chest, but reminds me a little of Big Convoy. As for the 'dragon' mode, did anyone tell Takara it was meant to be a dragon?

Not looking great so far.

The "Convoy" name is obsolete. He's "Optimus Prime" (Oputimasu Puraimu) as of 2007.

Also, the Katakana for this toy's name suggested that it should be spelled as "Optimus X Prime" since エクス ("Ekusu") can be used for the American pronunciation of the English letter X ("eks"), whereas "EX" might confuse one into thinking it reads as "ee eks" instead.

Or maybe as "Optimus Exprime" as a portmanteau pun on "Express" and "Prime".

With the exception of G1 and Masterpiece and other pre-live action movie versions, those are still Convoy.

Really like this and I think people will like it more when we see better pictures. The trainmode looks flawless, this was obviously their starting point. Bot mode looks great as well. The kibble isn't all that bad, he has the DaiGekisou head/chest on his back so that's removable and can probably be used as a weapon or sheild like all the others.

I don't think the dragon mode will look bad when properly posed. It looks like they're trying put him in a flying pose with the front and rear legs stretched out. The front legs should be able to drop down to be stood on and he seems to share his rear legs with the bot mode so they should be able to move into place as well. He also has both of the head/chest parts on his back which may not be necessary, I can only imagine what the train will look like with all those parts slapped on.

Combined modes look on par with any of the others.

Btw, I noticed that his hip armor looks a lot like that of Micron Legend Convoy. Same designer maybe?

Exactly. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, just saying they aren't retroactivly renaming Convoy to Optimus Prime; the name is still in play for characters that were already named Convoy.

If only all people would be as open minded (sacrifice poseability over appearance).

By todays standards, those bricks of yesteryears would be creamed by the critics of such.

I think I see now the legs extending into the chest area. Might just be me.

its called common sense, having legs that go clear up to the head of the figure looks horrible
i would rather have a cool looking robot than one that looks weird and if some posability is lost then so be it you dont get what im talking about im not saying make an immovable figure and no it doesn't have to be a brick like some G1 toys, non moving legs and such
thats a little extreme and unnecessary and anyone with sense would have a figure that looks good in robot and alt and combined form
