Like I said, it's a retool, not a repaint.

He knew that, he asked which parts have been retooled. It can be quite drastic, to the point anything above the waist is new, like with RotF Cannon Bumblebee.

I am also asking why the arcee mold was chosen for the retool. It doesnt seem to work for Nightbird, given how the animation model doesnt have a giant backpack.

Black Widow, and I already have the Animated one Slipstream... maybe if I can find only her. I'm gonna pass on Nightbird, so army builders can have them all.
I am getting the feeling that nightbird is the weaker of the three. I dont care since I have no clue who the character is but looking at the pics, it seems she doesnt have a huge backpack and is instead a sleek ninja type character. Did they only use the arcee mold for the hips?
It's a retool of Arcee.
I know, hence my question. The character's design does not seem to work with the Arcee mold they chose aside from her hips so I am asking if the hips are the only reason the arcee mold was used.

The character's initial design wasn't a transforming robot at all. Some incongruities will arise.

To be fair, she really wasn't a character either.
The main focus of an episode yes, but she wasn't a character.

If you say so.
Personally I have no issue with them using the Arcee mold for this as without the backpack she looks very close to the animated model.

Maybe one of the TF engineers/designers/artists like Yuki Oshima will create a back story on why Nightbird Shadow has a transform mode? Dr. Fujiyama must be one lonely cyberneticist like the designers of GF Chromia.......too much time without his wife or an oneesan.

Besides, C/G's is a modern take on G1, not slavishly G1 toon/toy accurate. That's what MP's are for.
I assume the only hopes for a cartoon accurate non-transforming Nightbird lie with 3P's or that company that made the Alpha Trion figure. Don't remember who, but it was die-cast'y and Revoltech'y.

All three ladies are heavy retools of existing figures: LG-15 Nightbird from Generations Arcee, LG-16 Slipstream from Generations Windblade, and Blackarachnia from her Animated self.
