Ohhhhhhh dayuuumm these look good Broadside and Doublecross are just perfect with Broadside's non Translucent gun and Doublecross's Dragon heads fully painted (although I must question Broadside's gun thing and Doublecross's Targetmaster and Uninipple. Sixshots painted wheels and silver paint are a nice touch and Misfire is just Eye candy!

TakaraTomy normally doesn't do straight redecos with only the head and other minor parts switched out for regular retail.

Tokyo Toy Show 2017 had their Takara Transformers presentation and while it had official images for many revealed toys, it ended with silhouettes of toys planned to come out later. Taabou's Toybox live tweeted the event and said that the silouettes were of the following toys:

Perceptor
Bumblebee
Topspin
Overlord
Seaspray
Slugslinger

They also stated that it seemed like Perceptor and Topsin came with the titan amster drones rather than targetmasters, while Bumblebee and Seaspray came with Headmasters (aka Titan Masters).

My pipe dream for Takara Overlord is for it to be enlarged to better match the height of God Ginrai (and by extension, the CW Combiners since God Ginrai is as tall as those).

From the looks of it, this new wave changes things a bit:

- Legends Class figures come with an additional Headmaster, as before
- Deluxe Class figures will come with a new mold Targetmaster
- Voyager Class figures will come with a Titan Master vehicle instead of the Deluxe Class ones
- Leader Class and up come as is.

Pre-orders are up at AmiAmi and HLJ. Originally I wasn't planning on getting Doublecross, but the new paint and Targetmaster sold me on him. Of course I also ordered Misfire, he looks far better than Hasbro's in every way.

I do have to laugh at Sixshot retaining the sub mode in photos over the gun mode even with Takara Tomy.

Surprised they didn't bother painting up the mini Aerialbots that come with Broadside. Guess they aren't that committed.

I don't really understand why you would think that. Overlord is more than capable of being released as his own main line retail release, there's no good reason to make him an exclusive. Especially when rumors coming out of Tokyo Toy Show point to a God Ginrai box set with Cab and Minerva Headmasters. Takara Tomy isn't about to release Super Ginrai a third time with Overlord. Plus we've never had a Legends box set before (Unite Warriors aren't technically Legends) so it seems unlikely that they'd suddenly drop two on us.

Modifying the right parts could get it done. If they gave him new lower legs that were a little longer and maybe a longer torso it could probably match Super Ginrai. It would take a lot of retooling, but knowing all of the changes made to Super Ginrai purely for aesthetics this is certainly doable.

As an IDW fan I think that'd work for me - Overlord is a really big dude there, and if Shapeways or some third party released an IDW-accurate kit (like a LIPS face), it could possibly save me money on Carnifex

Even if the paint deco looks better on Takara 6shot. Doublecross on the other hand, wish I would have waited for Legends. Again just for the headmaster but for his paint. I tried painting mine's eyepatch and stuff, looks decent.

I missed the (first) pre-order wave for Siege on Cybertron, which I was going to sell off individuals from on eBay.
Enough off topic, though: I realized that plenty of people have Legends Blurr, but his Targetmaster comes with Doublecross. How much do you think Haywire could sell for?
(In case it wasn't clear, the Siege note is there because that led up to this idea)

If you guys can help, it would be appreciated. I figured this would be on-topic enough, seeing as it really does boil down to Legends figures.

I mean, they're the ones who obviously developed the Hasbro version, so they'd have to have already known about Revolver's resemblance to Jack. They most likely switched out Revolver for a new, more Sixshot-y Headmaster to both better fit with Japanese take on the Headmaster concept, and to forgo needing to explain why Sixshot's Headmaster resembles Chromedome's friend that Sixshot captured, tortured, and put a bomb inside. After all, Japanese Sixshot isn't evil anymore, so Hasbro's sick sense of humor wouldn't jibe with Sixshot's change of heart.

Besides, this just give Takara the chance to release Revolver as Jack on his own, probably with a new face, even. Sakamoto could even bring him back from the dead somehow and reunite him with Chromedome in the Legends Universe.

Heh, makes me also wonder if there's a preexisting Titan Master mold out there that a redeco of which could pass for decent Abel.

Bumblebee : How in the living hell are they gonna make this guy more accurate to the Cartoon he's not a bug in this mold I predict all their gonna do is give him Painted rims and tighter Joints and maybe Emissary repainted as Spike.

Some strategic additional paint apps on Hasbro's Titans Return Bumblebee are what I assume Takara will go for to make their Legends release even better. Consider this:



Add some silver to the hubcaps, paint the side mirrors black, make the lower grill on the front of the car black, paint the lower headlights/turn signals orange, get rid of the black striping on the sides of the car, paint the sculpted shoulders and upper arms inside the back fenders black for robot mode, paint the forearms inside yellow instead of black (but keep the hands/fists black), possibly paint the windows blue instead of black, and there you go. One idea that would make the robot mode even more on model, at the cost of the vehicle mode's accuracy, would be to make those shin guards in robot mode black. In vehicle mode, they'd look similar to some of the striping patterns from live action movie Bumblebee, so they wouldn't be terribly out of place, even on a mostly "G1 inspired" figure. Such a small concession could even make those who despise Takara's penchant for lovingly/slavishly painting their figures to resemble their G1 selves give some due credit for providing the character with a "modern update" as per the original idea behind the "Transformers Classics" line in 2006 that started all this "Neo G1" goodness we're still enjoying 11 years later.

What's wrong with this?



Too square for you? I know the cartoon model is a lot more rounded on top, but as someone who loves when Takara puts in extra effort to make their releases more G1 accurate in terms of color choices, paint deco layout, and remolding, this doesn't bother me at all. He looks fantastic!

Perceptor : either an IDW design with the Targeting eye or just a 100% toon accurate retool with a new gun like Kup will suit me fine

Honestly, I don't know what Takara could do to make Hasbro's release of Perceptor any better, other than give him blue robot eyes instead of yellow. Maybe they could chrome up some of the silver painted parts for some G1 toy goodness? I could also see them painting the chrome parts as white, like the show model, which I think often stood in for chrome (think of Optimus Prime's thighs as an example). If they REALLY wanted to be sticklers, the focusing cylinder on the end of Perceptor's microscope/shoulder cannon should be black to match the cartoon or chrome to match the original toy.
