Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Toyline Thread

Already redundant but in my previous posts all over the site when it concerns first impressions on leaked images, even when using a high pixel cam, what it looks like in a PC monitor differs greatly in real time. Same issue with Sandstorm. They ain't as bright as the images posted. make a judgement once you have them inhand.

Good point fen. When your looking at a computer monitor, you are looking directly at light. Not light reflecting off of a solid surface.
All the dispute over the color aside (although it has been entertaining to read), I'm more interested in the logic behind why they are releasing this guy again so soon after his original release. I thought maybe it had something to do with the release of MP Rod, but that's months away.
Is it just because it's a great figure?

I think it does have to do with the release of MP-28 Hot Rod and the second production run of MP-22 Ultra Magnus. Both are currently slated for a February 2016 release. Guess who's coming in February 2016 as well? Yep, it's LG-19 Springer!

The JP version seems to have sold out like hotcakes. It also cause the prices of FP not Springer to dump. Maybe fan/customer request influenced TTs decsion to relase another color version of him?

Re: Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Thread
Different camera sensors and brands interpret colors differently.
Sonys for example brighten the greens and oranges to almost florescent, glowing color. Makes for nice landscapes but is inaccurate when photographing say a Fujifilm or Kodak film box.
Nikons boost as well, while Canon professional bodies are far more muted and color accurate (though not to everyone's taste.)

I was gonna mention that. In Japan, toys dont get restocked often and if you miss on an opportunity when its released, you might not see it again. So this totally helps Japanese fans who didnt get a chance to get this incredible mold yet, and they no longer need to spend the bigger bucks importing the american version (it is more expensive to ship from US to Japan than from Japan to US). Takara has been doing this quite a bit lately and I am quite thankful for it. I wish hasbro could just release Prime Breakdown in some different deco just to get the mold out in retail.
Not going to say Springer was massively available in Japan the way he was in North America, but don't confuse Japanese online retailers with B&M retail locations. Just like how something long sold out at BBTS may still be collecting dust at Walmart, something that sold out fast at HLJ may still linger at Japan's TRU or a department store the same way thanks to their larger warehouses and distribution networks making restocking possible. Also while Takara Tomy's figures may be made in smaller numbers for Japan's retail they're better distributed between online retailers, department stores, toy stores, hobby shops, convenience stores (7-11 in Japan sells a small number of figures), and those Cybertron Satellite stores which include clothing and electronics chains.
Of course when it comes to Transformers these days it's hard for Takara Tomy to make anything somebody doesn't want so I don't doubt the new Springer figure will sell. And I agree that the actual figure will have more muted colors. There's something faulty in going by an amateur photo in direct light over light controlled professional photos.

I was using first hand experience reported here on the forums. We have some japanese corespondants and they have told us that with the UW releases, for example, TRU releases them once. They have to wait in line on release date to make sure they get one. So, yes B&M retailers do sell out just as quickly IF the item is popular.

Which again points to the question: why doesn't TT increase the production run? They don't have to do huge levels of excess, but increasing it even slightly would only prove to be a huge win-win for everyone involved

But it would only be beneficial on more popular items. The TAV line isnt doing too well in Japan and there is still stock available on the japan sites. That is not as easy to anticipate and they would rather sell out than have excess.

Fair enough, so perhaps do additional runs in between figure production runs? Do a smaller second run of all the figures that sold out locally? I guess that still wouldn't work b/c they would need to reacquire the plastic and paint...

Actually it seems rather easy to anticipate. From what I've read the only toon based line that did well in Japan was Armada. So up the production on their Generation lines, and lower it for their cartoon lines.

Now that is much, MUCH, better than any official pic Takara has shown us of their figure. This is all the right greens in all the right places, with just the right amount of additional yellow slotted in to provide a perfect balance of color contrast. Takara should totally see this pic and change their deco to better reflect this one, as it is superior to the official deco in virtually every way.Whisper wrote:[delurk]

Been enjoyin' my Nightbird, but I gotta say, the lack of articulated wrists really hurts what could otherwise be an extremely poseable figure - as far as dynamic action poses go - with the sai's and such. While wrist swivels would've been to cumbersome to add, I think some cleverly engineered ball-jointed wrists would have made this figure perfect in my books, far surpassing anyone that I can think of.

Been done before (prime wheeljack, gen chromia, etc.) would've made a nice cuff, and would've allowed for incredible articulation without giving her freakishly large wrists with a mushroom peg

So do we know if TT added the fem trio on as a clever afterthought, or did they make the original molds with these in mind (excluding blackarachnia of course)?
I ask this because many of the ports on Nightbird seem designed exclusively for her sai's. So did they make arcee knowing this was happening, or did they just really cleverly engineer the weapons to fit all the ports on her bot mode?

By my reckoning there's about the same number of hues as the original picture, the rest being paint apps, so the overall cost would be around the same as originally intended.

For us that's negligible but for the corporate slugs that's a real biggie.

Take a look, and see what you think of this new version of the character.
