Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

Is it just because it's a great figure?

I think it does have to do with the release of MP-28 Hot Rod and the second production run of MP-22 Ultra Magnus. Both are currently slated for a February 2016 release. Guess who's coming in February 2016 as well? Yep, it's LG-19 Springer!

I was gonna mention that. In Japan, toys dont get restocked often and if you miss on an opportunity when its released, you might not see it again. So this totally helps Japanese fans who didnt get a chance to get this incredible mold yet, and they no longer need to spend the bigger bucks importing the american version (it is more expensive to ship from US to Japan than from Japan to US). Takara has been doing this quite a bit lately and I am quite thankful for it. I wish hasbro could just release Prime Breakdown in some different deco just to get the mold out in retail.

Not going to say Springer was massively available in Japan the way he was in North America, but don't confuse Japanese online retailers with B&M retail locations. Just like how something long sold out at BBTS may still be collecting dust at Walmart, something that sold out fast at HLJ may still linger at Japan's TRU or a department store the same way thanks to their larger warehouses and distribution networks making restocking possible. Also while Takara Tomy's figures may be made in smaller numbers for Japan's retail they're better distributed between online retailers, department stores, toy stores, hobby shops, convenience stores (7-11 in Japan sells a small number of figures), and those Cybertron Satellite stores which include clothing and electronics chains.
Of course when it comes to Transformers these days it's hard for Takara Tomy to make anything somebody doesn't want so I don't doubt the new Springer figure will sell. And I agree that the actual figure will have more muted colors. There's something faulty in going by an amateur photo in direct light over light controlled professional photos.

I was using first hand experience reported here on the forums. We have some japanese corespondants and they have told us that with the UW releases, for example, TRU releases them once. They have to wait in line on release date to make sure they get one. So, yes B&M retailers do sell out just as quickly IF the item is popular.

But it would only be beneficial on more popular items. The TAV line isnt doing too well in Japan and there is still stock available on the japan sites. That is not as easy to anticipate and they would rather sell out than have excess.

Now that is much, MUCH, better than any official pic Takara has shown us of their figure. This is all the right greens in all the right places, with just the right amount of additional yellow slotted in to provide a perfect balance of color contrast. Takara should totally see this pic and change their deco to better reflect this one, as it is superior to the official deco in virtually every way.Whisper wrote:[delurk]

While wrist swivels would've been to cumbersome to add, I think some cleverly engineered ball-jointed wrists would have made this figure perfect in my books, far surpassing anyone that I can think of.

Ball-jointed wrists? Who do you think we're dealing with, Bandai?

Beautiful bash but did you all ever consider how much the cost of the extra plastic hues would affect TT's bottom line?

By my reckoning there's about the same number of hues as the original picture, the rest being paint apps, so the overall cost would be around the same as originally intended.
Dammit, I've had to post twice now in the same year. I'll have to wait until 2017 now to post again...
