...I mean, how soft are they on the UW release? The Hasbro ones are soft plastic, but still fairly sturdy.

I can't bend it much (its not like RID Starcream's wings) but it feels very very light. It feels like the plastic they use on model kit sprues.

Ok thanks. Makes sense since both toys are made in the same factory and more than likely use very similar material.Still too bad though. The plastic on Cyclonus' wings was excellent.

It's probably soft because it's not a whole, single piece. The wings have holes and protrusions that could break.

Its still the best one (although I have a soft spot for Hasbro Bruticus for some reason, I really like the deco on all its members). But wait does that mean that Hasbro's Scattershot has different plastic for the wings? I will ask in the combiner wars thread.

And just curious, are there any pics of the correct way that Strafe and Afterburner look like as legs? Because if not,I will take those pics tonight.

Also, can anyone tell me the use of the detachable tail fins on Strafe?

I haven't received UW Computron yet, so to me, CW Bruticus is the best combiner. Really liked it the second I had him combined.

Don't be discouraged by my rant. Computicon is worth the extra moolah. It's just the wings so soft because of the hollow panels (not the open hole. And a bit of a warning on Lightspeed's ratchet joints. It makes using him as a leg kind of annoying as it causes Computicon to wobble a bit. I used wipe and Shine to minimize the wobble.

Also noticed that since Scattershot's shoulder's serve as Computicon's "femur", some mold degradation must have occurred because the ratchets aren't as tight as Superion's. Maybe someone who owns Hb Computron can feedback if this is the same issue with the mold.

They can form little knives/stabbing weapons for Strafe to weild as well

Are there pics? I thought of sticking them under his arms and beef them up a bit.

That's a cool way to deal with Afterburner's bike kibble, Will. Looks pretty good...from the side at least. for mine I've been using the windshield as the little visor over his head.

I've never actually said what I think of Computron now that he is in hand and yeah he's great. I wanna say he's better than Bruticus but man he's great too.

Now that I own the Breakdown mold I'm actually surprised it's gotten so much hate. Once I got him in hand I actually liked him a good bit.

Lightspeed is the best use of that mold since its the only one that looks good transformed properly as a leg. It also makes gorgeous use of the fake kibble chest by giving Lightspeed a change to have a full coloured windshield in vehicle mode and have a toon accurate windshield in robot mode since both modes are colourd differently. And I just love that attention to detail in the front with that nice silver hemisphere at the front of the car with an autobot logo. Its the stuff of wonders.

But this is mostly deco related and having deco make the best of the mold, reapropriating it for Lightspeed. And while that is a feat of its own, I am still left with a mold I am not very fond of. I still have issues with the legs. I pose my figures before trying to make them stand and with this mold that part is always frustrating because I try to position the legs properly but then when I push one up, the other falls and it keeps doing that as I try to position things properly for a pose.

Car mode looks great thoughand everything tabs in perfectly!

When comparing to Bruticus, it comes down to which mold to I like better: Lightspeed or Brawl. And I like Lightspeed better.

The deco consisting of mostly reds also helps hide some of the disproportionality of the mold, which I think looks less worse in hand than in pictures. The hips don't really bother me that much. They're not floppy, at least on mine, and when I'm posing him I'm usually focusing on different ways for him to hold his guns. And plus there is a CW figure with worse hips/crotch (Yeah I'm looking at you Bonecrusher). The car mode is very sleek too.

I think Lightspeed is better than Brawl as well.

I tried out the reverse configuration for UW Computron myself and I realized that the way the instructions say to transform the limbs is not great. It would look like this:






But I went for this instead, looks better:





I was worried that by trying to do a toon accurate paintjob, Takara wouldnt take advantage of the sculpting found on Scattershot, but I was wrong to worry. They end the red paint perfectly in line with the sculpting detail:



Its really cool how I dont mind them using the same mold if they can make them look different enough:

I don't think we saw the drill hand in the combined mode, at least I'm not remembering it, and I remember those sorts of things considering how excited I am for the drill

My memory was a bit mixed up. We did see drill hands.... but not on Computron

While i know it blows tat the US retailers are taking a while to fulfill the orders, it is you guys who lucked out in the end since the rise in the yen occured between the initial preorders and now. So those who preordered from Japan suffered now that they had to pay for their preorders while those who bought from the US dont feel it since it was ordered in a different currency.

From what I've seen (months ago) and what people who have the set are saying, you need to try and get this. It's taken a long, long time to get awesome update, and who knows how long it will be before we get the Technobots (or any of these combiners) again.

As far as Blast Off, I think it's been a mixed review... The mold seems to be good, but I think more people aren't a huge fan of the burnt-orange/lighter brown that was used.

I'll be getting both UW Comp and UW Brut in the same shipment, and I have a gut feeling they're going to be my favorites of the CW/UW lines.
