Even more than the 3rd Party ones?
Kurona wrote:Well, I think the alt modes themselves would be kept - at the very least for Razorclaw and Divebomb. And in the event the rest were changed... well... I don't think people would mind too much as long as it was similar enough. The thing with combiner teams is that aside from a few exceptions like Swindle, the team leaders and maybe some guys IDW has popularized like First Aid, a lot of people don't care too much about the combiner components as individuals - just as a limb or torso of the combiner.

I wouldn't want the alt modes changed in terms of the actual animals they were originally, but changing them to where they would look quite a bit different from the original G1 figures, partially out of necessity;
at some point there'd probably be some sort of compromise in the design to allow for figures of other combiner teams to be easily re-tooled from/with these molds.
Another thought-- since I feel pretty confident the combiners that have been (and soon will be) released won't get upgraded anytime soon with brand-new releases, wouldn't you think Hasbro would use the same combining parts and system so that if/when we get new combiners both older and new figures can be interchanged?
That increases play-ability and bottom-line should save as well as bring in more money.
Not to mention as I've said before, you wouldn't want future combiners any smaller, and to make them substantially bigger probably wouldn't work for financial reasons.
Having said that, if that idea is at all accurate, it really makes me wonder how long it'll be before we get any more combiners, and how they'd be worked into a future line.
Sowndwave76 wrote:I agree the current peg/system seems to be pretty good... I'd say they got that right.
And the more I think about it, the more I don't want a Predaking that is as big as Devastator.

Insurgent wrote:I hope he's the size of the others. Titan class is too big for me to collect regular. Devastator was an exception because of how much I love him, but if Predaking was titan class, I'd have to skip. But if he's the size of the others, I'd happily pick him up.
What amazes me about the G1 version is that he's a well proportioned combiner with five team members who are all the same size. I find it increadable that has not been replicated anywhere.
SillySpringer wrote:I know this probably won't happen, but if Takara does a repaint of UW Devastator into the original Takara Tomy yellow and black colors, that is the version I would get hands down. I remember seeing a knock-off years ago of that version of the g1 toy and wanting it so bad, and I didn't even hardly know what Transformers were at the time! That would just be brilliant. I at least however, want a G2 Devastator whether by Takara or Hasbro as a box set. If I can't get the back with the yellow, I'd be fine about the purple with the yellow instead.
It would be awesome to have a box set of Combiner Wars Devastator in his G2 colors. As you can see with this (sold) custom, the colors work perfectly on the toy:

For what it's worth, I have a KO G2 Devastator and it's a piece of crap. Not all KOs are bad, but I paid $30 for this one and I regret it.

UW & CW Computron could be released within a couple of weeks of each other if all schedules are kept. We know the target date for UW-08 is August, but it is usually released on the last Saturday in Japan, which would be August 27th. Hasbro's Combiner Wars is pushing for a September release, (which could be any time in September)... basically its just that there is not going to be a huge gap between the release of these two, they will hopefully be released *almost* simultaneously, I just think that is kind of cool.
Looking back, the Devastator toy is very well made, and I appreciate TT's additional joints on some of the figures. I just wish they would have been 6 deluxe figures rather then 6 Voyager ones, as this would have put them *roughly* to scale with all the others.
I believe the system being used for CW & UW is very well engineered overall. I know the concept of the TF brand is ever changing, but in 2 years, if they decided to release new combiners I would hope it would afford them more time to engineer truly unique animal-like forms for the Predacons, Terrorcons, and perhaps the Seacons, but use the same system used throughout 2015/16 so they are compatible with all the combiners we have to date. Also perhaps some new combiners for good measure. For what its worth. Grand Convoy, Grand Galvatron and Sky Reign are all welcome additions to then core group of G1 combiners.
