Eh, if Takara Tomy does pass on Liokaiser I really doubt already having one exclusive is going to be their reasoning and it wouldn't be a second exclusive with Hasbro already making their own. Plus at this point it seems just as likely that Sky Reign would be Hasbro's exclusive rather than Liokaiser.

Speaking of Sky Reign, I highly doubt TT would use the Sky Lynx mold for Liokaiser before using it for Sky Lynx himself.

What I meant was that if Takara doesnt release Liokaiser then Hasbro would end up with one exclusive Combiner (Liokaiser) and Takara would too (Galvatronus). Sorry if I wasnt clear. But yeah, its really nebulous, there isnt any rhym o rreason to any of this.

Definitely understand your wanting to nip falsehoods in the bud. For the record, none of those falsehoods were mine nor propagated by me. I was merely trying to say it was just the complexity of what would need to be done that most likely prevent them trying to do a 6 man deluxe combiner within the CW/UW peg system. 2 Deluxes that form a similar functioning voyager sized torso and could still split into 2 individual bots and alt modes would be a pretty massive task.

As for the massive task, I do agree that this would be the biggest change yet. However it is interesting that the only other toy in Combiner Wars to do that was Devastator which was the only combiner fully designed by Takara and not Hasbro. That doesnt really mean anything but it's a fun coincidence that of all the people tasked with doing this, it would be the ones that already did it

But in the end, it is impotant to understand that if it doesnt happen, it was because Takara didnt think it was worthwhile or the right time to do it, or just didnt want to do it, not because they can't do it. I mean, this is the company that actually had designs for an MP Devastator and proposed a CW Devastator made of Leader sized toys.

I love Takara as much as the next guy (if that next guy adores Takara) but I dont see the world through rose coloured glasses. Strafe is awesome, but not an entire remold, unlike say First Aid Wheeljack or Streetwise. He's more along the lines of Scattershot.

Look at the back of Blastoff as well as his arms and upper legs.





They are the same molding as Strafe:



All that Strafe changes is the head, the tail end of the ship (the lower legs/feet), the shoulders and the front of the ship which ends up in the back of the robot. It is not a complete reshell but some remolded parts. Kinda like TR Blurr and Brainstorm. If you turned Blastoff's head around they would look really similar.

PS: Strafe's feet work way better than Blastoff's.

Well, now that we have pics of the full prototype set, I've gotta say, they look amazing. Like, REALLY amazing. Best combination of molds I've seen for the CW/UW line. No matter how the colors turn out, I will be buying this set (and the PE hand/foot upgrade kit). If it's super bad, then I'll just paint it myself. Speaking of which, how long do you think until they release colored pictures?

I actually can't believe how different Hasbro's and Takara's Computrons are. The only thing they have in common are the Groove and Silverbolt molds. And even then, the Silverbolt remolds are quite different between each other.

I'm both happy and sad about this reveal. On one hand the Rook mold is awesome and this remold looks so cool. On the other hand his colors are going to suck if they stick to show colors instead of toy colors, which they probably will.

I'm more or less of a similar mind. I've generally been fine with the domestic Hasbro releases thus far, but with the Technobots Takara has just really gone the extra mile and so I think I might just import this version instead, but Nosecone is paradoxically both the best and potentially worst part of that.

Nosecone was the only one of the original Technobots I ever owned so I've got a special fondness for him over the rest. I certainly appreciate that Takara's is more evocative of his general shape and form, but I'm likewise equally fond of the toy's original color scheme over the show, if only for the sake of greater familiarity.

That said I did my own set of very rough Digibash mockups just to se how he might look like, and well... I don't hate him in animation colors as much as I thought I would (left), but I would still prefer something closer to the original toy (right). Maybe if we're lucky Takara will split the difference and at least go with a more brownish shade of red, though I'm not really counting on it. Worst case scenario, maybe I'll just have to consider repainting mine.

Those aren't looking half bad either. Although I certainly hop the actual finished products are less pastel.

If you really want to get specific it's the CW Groove prototype, Brawl with the drill, Air Raid with unpainted Strafe parts, and unaltered Betatron (Scattershot), Cosmos (with Payload), and Smokescrean. Not that it really means anything, it's just a mock-up.

The more I've looked at those, the better I feel about pre-ordering the UW version.
I did pick up a Scattershot for the PE Head/Chest set... But now there's a good chance I may be canceling/returning those.

Most of the time Digibash guesses usually don't look as good as the actual painted product.

I agree the cartoon colors are total bollocks but it should at least look better then a digibash (not saying Digbashes are bad but sometimes they don't look as good as an official product)

I'm guessing either in the next round of magazine scans or they might hold on to him until the Tokyo Toy Show in June.
