Delta Magnus is part of a peacekeeping and relief mission in outer space, where he is a savior to the inhabitants of remote regions and planets; he was known of by Convoy, Supreme Commander of the Cybertrons, since early times. But even this legendary hero has a secret he won't divulge. He was once asked to be Earth's City Commander, but declined it, for those in Earth's forces also know of him from earlier times and he fears the possibility of the truth coming out.
Woho, what secret? That he used to be Ultra Magnus, the once great City Commander of Autobot City on Earth? And thus the one who was there when it all went to hell?![]()
He might be Ultra Magnus from an untold future then.
Ultra Magnus is the City Commander in charge of Autobot City on Earth, Delta Magnus (who turned down the City Commander offer) is the Vanguard Commander in charge of the Primal Vanguard out in space.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Wait, why would the guy who declined the offer to be City Commander be the same guy as the City Commander?william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Fan translation of Delta's bio:Motto: "Lies also shine bright."

So to re-cap, he was a good guy that was following orders to murder younglings and has yellow eyes.Sabrblade wrote:Sure thing, though, I had to go find this out, myself.itscramtastic wrote:Thank you, Sabrblade, for saving me research.Sabrblade wrote:Delta's dark secret that kept him from accepting the City Commander offer is a reference to his having led the Primal Vanguard in the IDW comics, which was a "peacekeeping" organization that specialized in murdering scores of organics.
The chicken or the egg argument, Transformers style!!JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:And here comes the inevitable question: having the same template as Ultra Magnus, who was Delta Magnus built from?
Dude, I think that about every figure I buy that isn't G1itscramtastic wrote:Ok I'm finished ranting.
I feel like if I picked this guy up, I'd have to go back and get the G1 based Delta Magnus. Anyone else think that?

Wasn't that already indicative from the toy's name being "Delta Magnus"? I mean, there's no other Diaclone Powered Convoy-based character with that name.fenrir72 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Delta's dark secret that kept him from accepting the City Commander offer is a reference to his having led the Primal Vanguard in the IDW comics, which was a "peacekeeping" organization that specialized in murdering scores of organics.
Thanks for the biocard translationsFinally! So this is a mold fan wank.......TT recouping an investment via fan wank based on an IDW character

Only in the English Australian release. Takara's original Japanese bio card was the classic Supreme Commander Star Saber.sol magnus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Wasn't that already indicative from the toy's name being "Delta Magnus"? And while I'm all about the wank this time around, Star Saber used the IDW interpretation on his card as well if I recall correctly.

Until know, didn't know that IDW created one (haven't touched an IDW comic since FOTW.....save more cash for the toys and not the comic). The character I mean. Only knew that this mold was based on the (or the original mold that is, back in the Diaclone/G1 era)unused color scheme of what would become UM. I even have the Takara battle scene showing G1 Megatron fighting Diaclone color Megatron...complete with faction symbols. Hence my belief that the original Diaclone color UM was just him miscolored. Same with G1 Galvatron toy who is now Galvatron II but was labeled back in the 80s as THE Galvatron but not purple.

I haven't kept up with the comics either yet I knew Delta was his own guy from IDW cuz I read the page that was already linked to you. And for the record, I've yet to read a single issue that featured the guy. I'm THAT far behind.
That link was in the post I linked to. That's what matters here.fenrir72 wrote:That link WAS after the "He's Delta Magnus" post.

The biocard doesn't even apply to IDW's continuity anyway. It's JG1. The Wiki link was to show that the guy who looks like Diaclone Powered Convoy and bore the name "Delta Magnus" is a different person from Ultra Magnus. You didn't need the biocard translated to know that when the Wiki link already covers that information.
Not to mention the fact that the toy doesn't bear the name of "Ultra Magnus". If it were the same character as Ultra Magnus, it would be called something like "Ultra Magnus movie Preview Ver." or whatever. The name "Delta Magnus" is a key indicator on its own, and if not, the affirmation from those in this thread who are familiar with the character ought to have been enough to make clear his being a separate guy from Ultra Magnus. Plus, again, the Wiki page that CombaticonsCombine? linked to explains who the guy is.
Takara wouldn't use the name "Delta Magnus" if they didn't mean for it to be the guy that everyone was talking about, and they certainly wouldn't take the identity of a pre-established character like that and change it to being something like the same identity of Ultra Magnus in a new form. Takara is beholden to things past, especially in a line like the Masterpiece line.

Also, it's been pointed out that MP-31 was named as Primal by a more reputable source. So it's likely that Delta's number designate is wrong
