Do that after we finally get one that looks like the Boss Monkey we know and love from the show.Seibertron wrote:Shockwave7 wrote:I won't take it away from people who like Beast Wars figures, but I never cared much for them. I agree. I'd much rather have a realistic looking gorilla with elements of the character model in the cartoon that transforms into a more cartoon accurate robot mode. Basically like the licensed G1 vehicles but with animal modes instead.

It looks like a cartoon ape, and I grew up watching a cartoon ape on TV, so I want a toy of the cartoon ape I know and love.Seibertron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Do that after we finally get one that looks like the Boss Monkey we know and love from the show.Seibertron wrote:Shockwave7 wrote:I won't take it away from people who like Beast Wars figures, but I never cared much for them. Do you really want one that looks like that? His beast mode looks horrible.

At the end of the day, it just boils down to "I just want what I saw on TV." And I feel I still haven't quite gotten that yet (BW 10th TRU Primal and Telemocha Convoy have been very close, though).Seibertron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Something that looks like this, however, is not Optimus Primal, is hideously ugly by comparison to the much friendlier-looking, well-groomed CGI model, and would be a disservice to the character's iconic look.
To each their own. I'd rather have realistic looking animals that had nods to their cartoon models. That would look way more awesome than an out-of-date cgi model version of the character. Realistic animal modes would be far more timeless as well since they don't go out of date like a 1980s Lancia Stratos or Beetle does.

To me, it's less a matter between what looks "good" vs. what looks "bad", and more between what looks "right" and what looks "wrong".

Exactly, the Mp line is about making figures that look like the show characters, as BW figures could be seen as having two characters (beast and bot modes) that is what needs to be done
shajaki wrote:I'm not overly concerned about about the realistic hunch he seems to have, since he did walk like that some times. I'm deffinitly a part of the crowd who wants him to look like the CG model though.
Speaking along those lines, I was a little let down by Generations Rattrap not having his lovable cartoony mouse face. Things like that should be preserved if it's for a line like MP. All of this talk about Primal has me vibrating... but more so for the mere idea of there being a MP Dinobot in the future

Even in Robot Mode, Wheeljack's deco is a little off. Not just from the vehicle stripes but from all the black that should have been gray.william-james88 wrote:Hellscream9999 wrote:

But not all of them do in alt mode. Take wheeljack for instance, that alt mode does not look like the one he had in the cartoon. Also MP Ironhide doesnt look like he did in the cartoon either

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.
I wouldn't call the first Beast Wars toys realistic animals either. Certainly not Cheetor and Tigatron.Cobotron wrote:But the whole point of Animated was that it was animated. The toys were from the character designs.
In Beast Wars, the toys came first. Different folks see Beast Wars in different ways. Animated was to be seen as such.

Stumpybot wrote:Is this like one of those Magic Eye silhouettes? Stare long enough at the black shape and the whole figure will be revealed?
Some of you guys really need to tone down the ridiculous responses, its a silhouette, wait till you see the bloody toy before you crap all over it. Youre not THAT good at predicting things.

MR Optimus Prime wrote:A so called masterpiece should not have robot parts showing in the gorilla mode, especially since the simple transformation makes it far to easy to hide them. PASS

I dont know if I will pass but this was what i was thinking. I wasnt thinking whether or not it shouuld be a gorilla or the show model. I just wanted what they showed us.
It was amix of both I guess, show model and a gorilla. But what blew me away was how it didnt have the robot parts. It's not that crazy since the shoulder pads hise the arm robot detail, the robot legs flip out so the robot detail stays insid concealed when in animal mode. It wouldnt have been perfect like the image below but now I am wondering why I should get this guy istead of just waiting for last year's lgends to be available for a decent price somewhere.
MR Optimus Prime wrote:I got last year's legends and I am glad I did. That figure would be perfect with only filling in some outside plastic, and painting the exterior white/red that of his fur. So this new MP Primal has no excuse for robot parts simply becuase of the original figure.
What robot kibble are you guys seeing in that unfinished beast mode CG render? The feet?william-james88 wrote:MR Optimus Prime wrote:I got last year's legends and I am glad I did. Yup! Could not have said so better myself.
Think about it guys, would any excuse fly for an MP BW Megatron to have some robot mode kibble in Beast Mode?!
