TFC has a pretty wide consumerbase and a lot of people like their products, so I hardly imagine that they're planning on giving up on combiners. Even their least popular combiner, Ares, had decent sales (and they still did better than the Unique Toys version). This strikes me less as "passing the torch" and more just branching out a bit. They've nearly completed their Defensor, who has already had a lot of early adopters. Once all the pre-movie G1 combiners are done there is a chance they'll move onto something else but I doubt it- there's always Abominus (who is currently only represented by Unique Toys), Computron (Quantron is fantastic AFAIK but there were also a lot of people complaining he was too small and fiddly, and the Warbotron release is huge even next to the average TFC combiner) and of course the Seacons.

By the time TFC stops making combiners, so will have everyone else. That isn't to say they can't branch out though. And who knows what they'll do after the combiner craze is finished? I'd like to see TFC do a Trypticon myself. There's also always the possibility of them doing what they did with Hercules and making Legends downsizes of their existing combiners.

Yeah, this is less "passing the combiner torch" and more "jumping on the 3P-MP bandwagon". We've had the Predaking War, the Dinobot war, the make-a-bigger-combiner-war, and now it seems G1 MP-style are the new craze.

I don't need this.

iGear Ratchet and Ironhice fit nicely with MPs or classics.
I think I'm gonna pull them from my classics shelf and redeploy them with my MPs instead until Takara comes out with the characters.

I like it, but this would just be double dipping for me.

Lots of folks jumpin on the MP bandwagon these days.

This figure had potential, but I don't think it really cuts it for a line like MP.

Well... maybe... idk. Kinda biased toward TFC.

this whole mp 3rd party scale jump scares me. I got back into TF in general because of classics toys and if all the cool charaters the 3rd party companies do jump to mp scale and im left with just has/tak.... :BANG_HEAD:

this would have been great in classics scale.

I agree this would have been better in classics scale but I still like it. It looks pretty well engineered, very solid (as is to be expected of TFC) and he has a very nice look to him. I do love that headsculpt.

Probably won't be getting this but it is interesting. If they did a Diaclone colours version I might spring for it as a standalone piece- the old Diaclone Cherry Vanette colour scheme is one of my favourite pre-Transformers schemes.

I just did a quick comparison of this vs iGear vs the animation model.

I definitely like this better than the iGear version, as this is closer to the animation model than theirs, but as I already own iGear's stuff so, is this that much better? Are we likely to get official versions of these characters, especially given the built-in repaint value?

I still think I'm skipping him, unless I can catch a REALLY good deal.

Just confirmed. Alt-mode requires an 'up-grade' kit which will be available at a later date.

I think ironhide is a sure thing from takara imo he's more important than wheeljack and a couple we already got but that due to repaints . There's a couple of repaints in IH and he would start a new height in the mp scale as he should be taller than the cars .

These new pictures concern me. The shoulder connectors look like they don't bend outward themselves, but look like they're connected under panels on the torso instead.

It looks to me that every time an arm is bent outward, the movement will cause the panels to lift up and break the torso up as well. Think Generations Blitzwing whenever you move his arms.

To be honest it struck me less as "TFC's track record" (which AFAIK is pretty good) and more as "The lengths some people will go to to make something more GEEWUN".

No worries, I'm autistic and easily confused/jimmy rustled. And yeah, the Rage of Herc/Wings of Uranos sets are kinda dumb, especially RoH- they took one of the least partsform-y combiners ever and added a bunch of partsforming kibble to it. Laaaaame.

I like this figure, but I think it's too big. It should be a bit smaller to fit in with Classics, due to not having the MP aesthetic. The sad thing is, it'S really close to looking show accurate, there are just a few design choices here and there that make it look off.

But I have to admit, it looks really nice and it looks like it would be fun to mess with.
