Saw Benscollectibles review for Gumball, Warning Line and Hydrant. They all look pretty awesome, I have to say. Hydrant in particular looks amazing- I'd be happy to have him as a standalone figure. Also good to see that the rumours of Scramble City are in fact true- I'd probably go with Groove and Streetwise as arms, and First Aid and Blades as legs.

Also, First Response is looking good. Loving that little box-ambulance mode.

I like their First Aid the most out of the whole lot (barring Blades, who is still MIA). Wasn't too impressed with the other members. I believe this has the right amount of apps applied to him to make him pop.

Agreed that he is the best. I like the Hotspot too (though, not as much as the Hasbro release).

Gumball is a bit weak, but OK, and I still hate Groove.

But now that I see them together, I do like it and it fits my preferred combiner size.

I am going to wait for a group deal or sale or something, though, before I pick it up.

What is there to hate about Groove? He looks fantastic, with great detailing, a really good silhouette and very CHUG aesthetics, and from the BensCollectables review I saw he seems to have very good QC. He's also got the closest thing to his original alt mode as would make sense, given the...questionable scaling/design of the original (seriously, a moped is never going to be big enough to form Defensor's leg. Ever.) and it's not like he's meant to be an MP figure, so the divergence is fully ascceptable.

Whatever he was, he was pretty dinky. He'd be a Minicon at best. He's also quite "hollow" and even if he was upsized to the same size as his team-mates he'd make a feeble looking leg- look at the jumble of parts that is MakeToys' Groove's leg mode.

Well, I like both Groove and Streetwise. Hot Spot and First Aid look good to me, too, and the combined mode is making me nod. So, I'm set for the rest of them.

I think it fails to keep any of the characteristics that make him feel like the same character.

I don't mind updating stuff, but especially with Transformers, certain design elements are needed to maintain the heart of the character.

For me, one of those elements is having the front of the bike as a "backpack" on the character, and as a "kneepad" in combined mode. The new alt mode completely fails to deliver in that, where the Maketoys version works.

However, the Maketoys version is not in the size I prefer, so I won't be buying that.

So I have the following choices: I can hope for a 4th party to create a replacement figure (unlikely), TFC to have a different Groove as part of their update kit (Possible!) or I can kitbash something (when I get to it).

Great review again, Gema.

I get him tomorrow. I am... I don't want to say 'worried', but it's not exactly the best sign no preorders for First Aid or Blades as far as I'm aware.
