Well, I'm big on third-party stuff so I usually go for those upgrade kits when they're available. Frankly, some are necessary (Roadbuster, Hardhead, Fansproject combiners, City Commander), some are recommended (Cliffjumper (yeah, I'm one of those bastards that nailed a Fansproject CJ kit >_>)) and others are sort of unnecessary, but still cool (Renderform Skyjack).
While there's plenty of molds that could certainly use some or just better guns, there's only two, at least in the Classics realm (and my collection is almost entirely Neo-Classics, or repurposed toys from other lines) that I feel really
need it. The first is the Classics Bumblebee mold, and all its repaints. I've got Henkei 'Bee ass my Classics version, and he's got some small chrome pistol that's from some other Henkei toy that I can't for the life of me remember, since when I first saw the gun I immediately gave it to him and whoever originally came with it had a better gun anyway (honestly, the dinky little gun is perfect for him). My Classics version serves as my Classics Hubcap, who's worthless so he doesn't bother with weapons. Cliffjumper has the FP upgrade kit. Bug Bite never had any weapons to begin with (in fact, none of the Gobots did) so didn't need to worry there. That Wal-Mart re-release of BB with the black stripes is a later version of BB, and has some extra G1 gun that again, I can't remember where it's from (sorry, it's been a long day). Never got any of the later releases.
The other mold in desperate need of better weaponry is the Universe 2.0 Onslaught mold. Since Universe 2.0 Skyfall/jack has his upgrade kit and can't realistically hold more than two guns anyway, I gave his original gun to Onslaught, and frankly it looks pretty awesome. Hardhead has his Headrobots Duros kit, but it was a bit of trial and error to find the right weapon for BotCon Clench. Where I lucked out was kind of unexpected - Superlink Galvatron G. The guy already has two giant cannons on his shoulders and a literal tank on his arm, I figured - especially in the interest of keeping him has a Neo-Classics Galvy - he didn't also need the purple sword-weapon thingy that came with him. So, Clench got that, and the guy looks pretty frickin' sweet with it. And the best part is, the bright translucent purple doesn't clash at all with his colour scheme.
Anywho, if you've got some time and don't mind a bunch of group shots, you can check out my collection in my sig. I labelled everything, so if you don't feel like searching through you can just Ctrl+F the names and it'll bring you right there.
Speaking of sigs, btw, yours is awesome. Lovin' it.
