I thought this would be fun to try. In the case of any fandom, there are people that are sort of 'against' it and they tend to get lots of ideas of the fandom twisted or wrong. A lot of these really irritate me and I'm sure a lot of you guys get irritated by things like this.

The one thing that straight up pisses me off is when people confuse Shockwave and Soundwave. I don't know why, but I get so mad when somebody says "Oh I saw the Transformers movie, that Shockwave satellite guy was really cool." That's happened a bunch of times and It really annoys me.

Let's see what annoys you people.

How about when I get something wrong? Doesn't happen often, and technically I wasn't WRONG. Heres how it went:

Back between '03 to '05, this kid, like 7 or 8, was quizzing me about life. After I told him that I know tons and tons about Transformers, he says, "oh yeah? So what does Megatron turn into?" And I was like "easy. He turns into a gun." And the kid gets all pious pn me and he's like "Megatron turns into a green tank. You don't know anything!"

So now I'm just embarrissing myself more by trying to explaint to this kid the concepts of G1, Beast Wars, RID, and so on. He didn't buy it. #-o

That anyone who calls any transforming robot a "Transformer", even Gobots and Knockoffs.

However, friends of the family got me what they thought was a Transformer, except it was a Brave KO. I didn't get mad though, I love them too much to correct them. I see it as enriching my tastes. :lol:

My brother always questions me about Transformers and he fails to understand the meaning of Separate Continuities. So I'm always having to tell him about separate Universes and storylines, the Beast Wars/G1 gap ALL the time in particular. Plus Animated and Prime/FoC.

Plus he messes up names all the time and always wants to understand what I'm looking at or watching, which is great don't get me wrong. I like it when other people wish to share in the same interests as me. It's just he hovers when I do so, and always makes unnecessary comments like how things aren't like the G1 cartoon blah-blah-blah. Then when I try to explain something, it seems to just go in one ear and out the other and I'm stuck having to explain it again later in the future or I just tell him to F*** off and Google it instead.

This is what irks MSB.

Back in the 80's I would get mad (a little mad, not foaming at the mouth mad or fists flying made) when kids at school would call my Frenzy toy Rumble. And now even Hasbro themselves are doing it!

All those people that think Frenzy is the red tape, and that Rumble is the blue tape, based solely on a cartoon that was rife with coloration (and voice) mistakes, and in blind ignorance of all other proof that in fact Rumble is red and Frenzy is blue. It's insane to think that even people who call themselves Transformers fans still get them mixed up so badly.

That Takara TFs are somehow superior to Hasbro TFs. They may be different, but they sure aren't any better or worse quality-wise.

Toys came first, months before the cartoon. Not just that, I think the comics followed the toy colors more.

Something several of the local collectors here get wrong: the premise that one can buy nothing but deluxes and other size classes will magically be restocked as well and all the new Voyagers/Cyberverse/etc. will get here quickly because Deluxes. >:O

It happens to the best of us. Really, Hasbro hasn't been consistent themselves, so I tend to just call them 'red robot' and 'blue robot', and then make jokes about cracking shells.

As for TF misconceptions that irk me... the ideas that Animated was a bad cartoon and that the 2007 Bayverse movie was the first theatrical Transformers film.

I get irked, but I don't openly show it, when people think that the Transformers brand vanished between the 80s and the live action movies. "No, LOL, the Transformers brand was only gone for one year in the US though it was still alive and kicking elsewhere in the world."
