What if you have the face a different colour to black/white (silver/metalic?), to contrast with the main deco, maybe keep the helmit in the main colour scheme (white helmit black visor?), and have the hands the same colour as the face.

Are you gonna use another colour for highlights? I like red.

hmmmm ... it's an interesting idea. Definitely will think it over.

Keeping the hands black out of pure laziness. Can't be bothered giving them that little bit of sanding needed so they can still push up into the arm and not have the paint rub off.

More than likely not. I'm keeping this REAL basic. I did the silver buttons to break up the white torso and black chest as it is. But I don't really want to introduce any more colours as the aim is to keep it as simple as possible.

And don't worry, red is actually a good colour to work with (white requires numerous coats but drys fast while black requires one coat and takes forever to dry. Damn them both!) but I kinda have a few bashes with red in them ... and brown ...

It's the molding detail. If you have a Blaster take a look and you'll see it.

This is one of the fun things about kitbashing a G1 figure, you really come to appreciate how much molding detail they have on them.

And people just call them boring ol bricks! BAH!

Alright, time for you guys to throw your thoughts out there.

Thanks to lack of time, this has been a painfully slow 'bash, which it shouldn't have been considering the VERY basic colour scheme of black and white.

But of course I don't do things simple do I? No. Not content to leave the Blaster mold with a busted eject button, I decided to modify the chest ... see pic.

Now before anyone says anything, yes, it looks very dirty, because it's still a work in progress.

But i'm stuck on that damn head, i'm not quite sure on what to do with it. Perhaps paint the whole "helmet" black leaving a white face and yellow eyes? I'm not sure so i'm asking for feedback from you guys.

Oh and for the record, this is Resonance. Who really doesn't transform into a jet.

And in case people were wondering, i'll be using Steeljaw. Why? Because Steeljaw came with Blaster!

To me the helmet would only look right if the torso and arms matched it. A black Blaster with white details and yellow trim would look pretty awesome. I'd probably make the red parts of Blaster black. His face would look good white. Hands probably white as well. Not sure what color to make the legs though. It's the same color as his face if I'm not mistaken. They'd probably look good white. Although the inverse would also look equally good. It's up to you man.

Funny, when I first got Blaster he came with no cassettes, I had to buy Steeljaw and Rewind seperately.

And even the junker Blaster came with no Steeljaw either. That was a seperate acquisition.

WHICH BRINGS ABOUT STORY TIME!

I was chasing up a Steeljaw, found one paired up with Eject, neither had weapons.

I had a spare set of Eject weapons.

A quick search of E-Bay AU found a set of Steeljaw weapons.

Completeness in 5 mins.

Blaster had a few releases. Funny enough although he and Soundwave were released around the same time Blaster predated his tapes by about a year. There's two versions of the Pre-Tape Blaster and at least one Post Tape Blaster that came with Steeljaw. Takara reissued him in one of their reissue collection lines and packed him with Steeljaw.

That's pretty cool how you managed to find and complete a couple of toys like that in such a short amount of time too. I still need a fair number of Cassettes to complete my Decepticon Tape collection, unfortunately for me other then Buzzsaw they're all the more expensive ones. I don't think I've ever tried to piece a toy back together, although I've considered piecing together Combiners a piece at a time.

Admittedly it was a little more than I wanted to pay for Steeljaw as I simply wanted a junker, but oddly enough all the Steeljaw's i've seen on E-Bay over the years have all be in pretty good nick.

Unlike Buzzsaw/Lazerbeak who tend to have their heads or legs or both broken off. Superior my arse.

Most of the Buzzsaws I've seen were fine. The only damage I've seen in them were the weapons which are easily broken. The real bastard is Ratbat and his damnable ears. If he weren't awesome I wouldn't even bother getting him. Especially for the rate he goes for. Besides you can't compare Steeljaw to the condor mold. It's best compared to Ramhorn or Ravage. All 3 of those molds that I've seen on ebay and the net in general have held up due to the construction of the molds. They're also generally not as loose as some of the other tapes.

I've seen a lot of Laserbeaks with lost heads, but I don't remember any that broke its leg... However, the chrome on their weapons are worse than on the transmetals.

And Ravage as character is superior to every casette.
