I know we already IG'd about it but I love the pic of Impactor punching the soul/shadow/snot out of Mirage.

I didn't get into it there but it reminds me of the effect of movement Alucard had in Castlevania:SotN

One of the best games ever made, highly recommended.

That's exactly the type of effect I was going for too. the holo mirage is really cool and and the holo not only is his gimmick but also makes for that cool effect.

On Twitter, I called Mirage the endgame of siege effects parts: a full effects figure

So, TFcon was this weekend...

And it was a FRIKKIN BLAST!!!

It was an incredible con, it lived up to expectations, and I got a ton of great stuff to remember it by.

So up first, all the toys that I found:

Image
Image
Image

And some of them had some great stories behind them.

while I was doing the custom class, I ended up meeting and talking to a friend of ScottyP's, and then after the class bought 6 figures off of him, setting the stage for all that was about to happen.

Friday night at 130AM, I was out with Ari (Megatronus) and Jason (Mooncake623) at a hotel room checking out a bunch of stuff someone was selling, and after a half hour of wheeling and dealing, I scored G1 Dreadwind, Darkwing, Slapdash, and Flywheels complete for an insane price for those 4. Pretty much got all 4 for the price of the Dreadwing bros. I was so stoked! And now, I only have to find 2 more Powermasters and I will have them all!

Pretender Jazz was a cool find very early in the dealer room Saturday, and was an awesome find. I need to clean him up and get some new stickers. The monsterbots were in a parts bin minus weapons, but since they are monsterbots, I was ok with it. They both need similar treatment to Jazz, but awesome to complete that team.

Armada Grindor (the skateboard): I found him in a bin early, lost him at that station, and found him when I went back to that station 4 hours later!

Late Saturday, was in a hotel room right before a party was about to start, and found the Cybertron Defense Red Alert! Ari helped chip in some cash (since i was down to almost nothing) and secured him. He may be the favorite figure I got the entire time.

And the leader Prime was a cool story. I got Scotty something and went to get it autographed while Ari grabbed something from another stand right before we left. On my way out to meet up with him and Jason to leave, I saw a bin labeled "2007 movie" with a leader Prime on top! but it was the one with the blaster. underneath him was a 2nd leader... also with the gun. And then at the bottom of the pile, I found this leader Prime with the sword, which is the one I really wanted.

So yeah, toys were awesome! but then, there was a lot more.

Friday was the Custom class, and here are some pics from that adventure! Was a 7 hour class, but it was worth it

Image

Also got a bunch of stuff art related. Picked up a print from Alex Milne (the big one), the Pickle Brainstorm from my friends over at RobotswithCoffee, and then the animated guys from Josh Burcham. Also got autographs from Milne, Burcham, Jack Lawrence, Casey Coller, Josh Perez, and voice actor David Sobolov! Even got some pictures with Lawrence and Milne!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

In other random stuff, got a Rodimus Star pin and some Kremzeek energy drinks for my bots!

Image
Image

In other meeting celebrity news, look who I got to meet, proper shirt and all!

Image
Image

And in case you were wondering, this was what I wore all day Saturday

Image

Got to see and handle some really rare and awesome figures too. Shattered Prime is a grail item of mine and it was great to handle him!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Also got to handle Siege Astrotrain and MP Bee! Both are.... eh.

Image
Image

Saw some homemade stuffed Rungs and also the Iron Factory Magnus! and it looks gooooooood and big!

Image
Image

and finally, have some of our faces!

I meant why that figure, was there other options, was it a BYOF event?

I was curious about the deco, so thanks. I figured something like that, but didn't even think about the movies. Most of the time, the movies don't even exist to me.

I almost passed on them! but a half hour of wheeling and dealing found them at a good price! and the combined jet mode is really nice. I think I might try to keep them in that mode!

So that Ratchet was the custom class figure. Basically, we all got a new Voodoo Salus, disassembled them, and painted them how we saw fit! I left the hands and crotch red because I didn't want to try to paint it, and the red goes good with the movie Green. and the stickers made it clear it was a movie homage because the red stripes for ambulance mode match movie ratchet's exactly.

It was really cool! the figure itself is a little weak and the transformation is a bit fiddly, but he will not go back to ambulance mode so I don't scratch the paint. But it was an awesome class! Got to sit with some well known customizers on Twitter too, which was sweet.

welcome to the thread! I agree with the black shelves, they pop so much better.

Have you made your own thread? You should once you have your shelves together! We'll all jump around and trash the place

Speaking of TFcon, this photo right here makes me realize just how badly I need to get Cybertron Defense Scattorshot to finish the team

And then there are these 2. Definitely glad i listened to Counterpunch and Qwan, these 2 form 2 fantastic Powerlinxers. You can't go wrong with either configuration!

Is that your first experience with that CliffyJ mold? If so what cha think?

Also how do you feel about Sky Byte? He does some interesting things. I like to fold his bot wings down.

Last question, what makes Ramjet spooky?

It is! and it is pretty dang good. I'm impressed that the only fake part on the robot are the horns and the thigh wheels. It's well engineered.
carytheone wrote:Also how do you feel about Sky Byte? He does some interesting things. I like to fold his bot wings down.

He's a bit fiddly and light in the legs, but i love the shark mode. It looks badass on that stand, I like the pose they forged him in.
carytheone wrote:Last question, what makes Ramjet spooky?

Have you read his universe profile info or seen any comic image with him? He is a fallen servant of Unicron who was toyed with by an Elder God who has no sanitary, has the power of dark matter, physically holds himself together from dissolving into dark matter through sheer force of will and insanity, and looks like he has a fire burning inside his head through his mouth and nose slits

I went from the regular Cliffjumper to the FE and was equally blown away. Ever fiddle with the regular release? It does some things better than the FE, both are worthy figures to have.

Yeah Sky Byte on a stand in cybershark mode is where it's at. Fairly limited in bot mode.

I did not know that about Ramjet, interesting.

I got the original RiD Cliffjumper back when I was in 11th grade in school, it is fun, I was underwhelmed at first, but it's still pretty decent. It's been the Cliff on my Prime shelf, and will remain so, this Cliff is a zombie! grrrr.

Yeah, Sky Byte will be displayed in shark mode, it's awesome!

Ramjet is pretty cool. Definitely a standout for a character with that name

This is a pretty dang good beast right here. And such wasted potential too. Grimwing was gonna be the Dinobot of Transformers Prime, and then about all he has for fiction are toy bios. Such a shame.

Also, despite having Darksteel in this mold, I've wanted this figure for years, so I was glad to find him last weekend. also also, it took me until today to realize he had double jointed knees. Only took 6 years to find out
