DW will end up dead unless she gets good stories.
She was only put there for the BBC's left wing agenda, so this new change is kinda pointless.
I'm not sexist, far from it, but this is just to appease the SJWs, the lefties and the feminists.
She'll probably only last about 2 series until BBC cancel the show.
I really hope she does it well, DW needs a change, so maybe this might work.
Any thoughts lads?
BBC has guaranteed the show five more seasons, no matter what. If ever there was a time to try something new, this would be it. And anyone who thinks the BBC would cancel their biggest cash cow is naive. If ratings do plummet, they'll just recast the Doctor.
And keep in mind, the creator of the show was pulling for a female Doctor since the nineteen seventies. So I think it has less to do with "pandering to SJWs" (though there are probably a few execs who are motivated by that) and more with trying something new for the show. Don't forget, this is a new writing crew, who are no doubt eager to leave their mark on the series. Experimentation has been in the show's nature since the beginning. Remember the Jon Pertwee years, where the Doctor was stranded on Earth and basically became James Bond. This is just the latest in a series of experiments, and I for one am eager to see what kind of new stories they can tell in this era.
