Amazon Japan just canceled our pre-order. Not enough stock it seems or it m8ght be that its Megs and customs will confiscate it even though he is no longer a gun. Who knows anymore?

Canceled my preorder.
I've over metallic paint. Especially when it's not on every part it could have been.
As much as I want that Shockwave, I'm good, and I'm assuming I'll like the Legacy version of Soundwave better anyway. And I'm still disappointed his forearms were never retooled in panels. Also, I would've preferred a painted visor rather than light piping, because at different angles and lighting, it’s too dark.
I definitely didn't want that Megatron or the throne.
I know it's a ways off, but I'll wait for the SS86 version.

Yeah looks like I'll have to resort to evilBay... I was gonna skip the set, but I don't like the comics deco Shockwave, and I'm not patient enough to wait for SS86 Megatron and Soundwave.

It doesn’t look to be an issue nearly as much with Megatron, especially the tank mode.
But the photo below shows how glaring the non metallic parts of Soundwave look in alt mode. Although it’s definitely noticeable in bot mode as well.
I wasn’t ever going to keep the Megatron from this set, but seeing how this Soundwave is no better than the NF version (and my copy hasn’t yellowed), this set just isn’t worth it for me.

It's nice that they're doing this for the guys that couldn't get these molds, but Megatron is terrible that that accessory and Shocky was widely available (dunno about Japan). Seems like a VERY pricy way to just get a Soundwave.

TBH, I prefer the darker toy-inspired Shocky colors. I may be mor eof a cartoon G1 guy, bu the toy colors are rich and vibrant.

But if it came with Buzzsaw I'd be all over it.

Yeah, for how much credit I can give Hastak for getting cartoon appearances on point with a lot of recent figures, ER Megatron’s head and face are so off, it’s almost unbelievable to me…. To think multiple people, including at least 1 designer, put eyes on that and decided, “Yup, nailed it”…
Just odd to me. I’m going to assume the SS86 version will be a huge improvement, and the head/face will be much closer (relatively) to the look of the MP figure’s head and face…. Then people will objectively be able to see how weird this version looks.

I think the Shockwave of this set is the best and only worthwhile aspect.
If I can find it on the aftermarket for $50 or less, I’ll get it.

Don't know, but I'm guessing that Selects box set has something to do with it not happening. If we're going off the early episodes then I feel like the obvious answer would be Optimus, Jazz and Bumblebee, maybe someone else to bring up the price. But with the Selects set claiming all the best characters that doesn't leave many choices.

Maybe the Selects set is the counterpart to this? After all, those are 5 deluxes versus 3 voyagers and a large accessory. If we were to get a set with yet another Optimus in it, I would think it would be with 2 other voyagers, even though I would want 3 deluxes, ones that were harder to get, like Netflix Bee and ER Prowl. And since we're getting Sunstreaker already, probably throw in Earthmode Sideswipe?

I imagine this set is their last opportunity to get a few runs of these molds in before they announce some updated Studio Series 86 versions of the characters, but for what this is, it looks fantastic. Very happy to have this on PO.

What's wrong with Megatron's face? Is it the frown?

No, actually that’s one of the only decent parts about it.
I think what almost throws it off the most is that the helmet right over the face/forehead points downward, and it looks really awkward. But with this, the face looks too wide, which makes it look like the helmet/head is too small; the sides are too thin, which makes it look like his face is squished in there. I’ll also say the helmet is too tall. The nose is definitely too small, which makes the eyes look too far apart. The black line above the eyes is too heavy.
I’m sure this sounds nit-picky, but all of this together creates really odd proportions, and it’s off enough to where it just looks bad.
They really should have tried to make this a scaled-down MP face and head sculpt.

When I first saw the leaks on this set, I was prone to jump on board and pre-order a copy because I wanted a cleaner, silver-painted version of ER Megatron. But it sold out too quickly, and as time went by, the appeal diminished to the point that I no longer want the set. It's too expensive for 3 voyagers, especially for ones that I already own. I collected Shockwave through Siege, Megatron through ER, Soundwave through Netflix, and the throne through a clearance Coronation Starscream set.

Maybe if I didn't already have all this stuff I might be tempted to sell a couple items and use it to help fund the proceeds for this set. But at the moment, I deem it not worth the hassle. If anyone sells the Megatron figure on Ebay for a decent price, I might think that might be worth looking into....

And this set is shipping now, too. I know I already paid for shipping when I bought them, but I still wish they would have bundled everything together. Five releases in four boxes, all released at about the same time is a lot.

Kinda neat that they're releasing Mainframe as Teletraan, but the other two are duds. We're getting a new commander OP after all. And even before then ER OP was all over the place and even that was only marginally better than Siege.

I mean, we all love G1 Prime, but maybe hold off on him a bit before releasing a big Commander Class version?

This is a Japanese set, they didn't get the 5 pack (yet) or the new rerelease of Prime (pretty sure Kingdom was their last release) so this is a big deal for them.

Interesting, I'll likely pick this up for mainframe and jazz. Not sure if mainframe will include the discs though but it's still better than buying the ark. Not too sure if prime will be a keeper or not.

For most of us in the west that's probably true, but for those in Japan this might be a good deal. The current aftermarket price for SS Jazz over there is 6,000JPY or $38USD and nobody has a Mainframe in correct colors (without customizing one). Plus prime is in cartoon colors, which we shockingly haven't gotten from that mold yet anywhere. Only other recent Generations OP figures we have in cartoon colors the Core figure with the trailer and Bumblebee and the 35th anniversary Siege figure. I intend to get this set mainly for Optimus and Mainframe. Though Jazz looks like he's basically the SS figure with the 5 pack's deco (minus the windows) so he might actually be a better figure than what we've gotten previously. We'll have a better look Tuesday.

Also strange that we've gotten the Jazz mold 4 times as Jazz, once as Jackpot and at least once as Knock-Out, but not as Stepper/Ricochet.
