Who among the ancient Chinese philosopher had the better attitude towards politics:

Confucius- the leader should be most moral man. If the leader is moral then the populace would be moral. Trickle down morality.

Mo Tzu- Love all men as family member. Do not treat family as more important as others, or love any family members more than anyone you do not know.

Legalists- Only strict law and stricter enforcement work. Death penalty for many offenses.

Daoists- Ignore politics and society. Politics only leads to own your decapitations. If the have to lead, govern as little as possible. Think as cross between hippies and libertarians.

I probably identify with the Legalists the most. I definitely think the death penalty system needs to be revamped and put to more frequent use.

I have been considering buying the book Dr. syn on the High Seas. I am curious to know if any of you fine intellectuals on this site have read it, and can offer some insight or comparisons to other literary classics.

From what I've read, there are no casualties from the Russian Meteorite, only injuries. Hope that this is true and that those affected are able to return to stability as soon as possible.

I purchased Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, yesterday. I've never sat through a Kubrick film and the price point was low enough for me to indulge my curiosity. I won't delve into the specifics but does anybody else feel that it was an overblown affair?

I feel that Kubrick is an overrated director as a whole. 2001 was exceedingly uneventful and failed to keep my interest. As s long-time Stephen King fan, I hates his incarnation of The Shining.
