You have to look at what's more likely, given the intent of those involved in the film. Did they actually base Blackout and Barricade of micromasters of all things? Or is it just more logical that they are new characters who used those names because "Blackout" and "Barricade" were recently trademarked by Hasbro during the Energon line, which means those names were available.

The share the NAMES, that's it. There are not the same CHARACTERS.

I'm fully awaer that their not based on the G1 versions of Blackout and Barricade.....and I never implyed that they were the same characters.
On the other Hand Bay has remarked that he gave the directive to the writters to find only G1 names that he could still use for all the characters in his first movie and to make some of those names be harder to reconise so that it could be considered a "nod" or a "refrance" to the G1 stories.Why they chose these two names above the countless others is beyond me.

The question isnt whether its based on G1, thats pretty much obvious, but rather, is it an accurate representation of G1? In which case the answer is no.

This is something completely new, a new story, a new universe and new characters.

It is based opone G1 just like every other TF line that has ever come out and will ever come out.

If it were based upon G1 as much as you said the Robots would have come out on the street saying something like "I'm a alien robot that can transform into a car! now give me a party and a international holiday!"

If you watch Armada, RID, Energon and Cybertron you'll see that they have a lot of G1 elements in them + new ones to make them interesting.

Just except that this is a completely new thing and please leave G1 out of the movie, please do that.
