Here's my guess, Perfect Editon Ultra Magnus. We've been givin a few clues by staff members regarding this. In a different thread about if we need a new Generations UM Blurzz stated Has/Tak would be giving us "something". In this thread Blurzz made reference to thrid parties. UM has received a lot of love from third parties recently. Most obviously FansProject City Commander, but also iGear who released an upgrade for CC and has plans to release an UM based on thier Faith Leader mold supposedly with a trailer. Heck we even recently got a WST UM with transforming trailer from HeroesToyMaker. Has/Tak already has the base mold for the figure all they would need to do is design a transforming trailer/armor system. He would also fit into the whole 2010 thing they've got going and compliment MP Roddy.

That would be fantastic and the 'Perfect way to finally give Ultra Magnus the 'Perfect' figure.

And if Galvatron came next that would be absolutely 'Perfect' too!!

It would make sense since they have re-issued (Prime) Masterpieces every year of the line and re-painted (Seekers, Prime) and given us at least one new mold a year (The TF Movie Masterpieces this year).
So our reissues are Prime and Megatron, Re-paint/mold could be Ultra Magnus and new molds could be Rodimus and Galvatron (I'm only basing the Galvatron thing on logic as he's the next logical leader release and he's very popular here in Japan).

I seem to have brought up Ultra Magnus again. In case you guys didn't see it, I believe it was maybe the Japan TF club website, but I'm not sure where it was, that in the bottom right corner of the page was a small picture of what is most definitely Masterpiece Ultra Magnus in vehicle mode...hitched to a G1-accurate trailer. And by the looks of the trailer's design in the picture, it may transform.
Who knows what this means? A Takara teaser picture meant to be caught by chance? Hmmm....

That would be great but I could definitely see them just releasing the trailer with Magnus but not doing anything to actually change the figures robot mode. I hope I am wrong about this if these rumours turn out to be true.

Oh, that. It looks like a CG image, I don't think it's real. That said, TFClub is an unofficial site not affiliated with Takara. So even if it's an image of an actual toy, it's probably not an official Takara product.

If going under the criteria that MP is reserved strictly for leaders. Then all the folks wanting a Soundwave? (which i don't) You won't get one.

I really like the idea of getting a Galvatron. It is the next logical step plus everybody wants a good Galvatron. So my vote goes to him.

BUT!.....If i had my way. My pick for the next MP would be Wreck-Gar.

Or at least receive MP treatment sometime down the line.

He's leader class. He's command of an entire planet/race of TF's for crying out loud. I think he'd make an incredible MP if they did made him cartoon/movie accurate. With lots of spikes and a long stash and goatee and a smirk. Make him look slightly insane. MAAANN would i love that.

I want to see Tracks become a Masterpiece figure. The blue car with a flight mode. He would make a great Masterpiece figure. I really want him to become a Masterpiece Transformer.

Hasbro and Takara naturally agree on making Masterpieces that represent highly popular or well-known characters, so guys that don't get a ton of hype are the least likely to be released.
So, by that I think the next Masterpiece WILL be G1 Galvatron OR G1 Soundwave. The other one I think is likely to be seen would be G1 Ultra Magnus Complete Edition, with an actual transforming trailer.
Unfortunately for some fans, I think since that some other TF continuities are getting almost as retro as G1, that some of the myriad of G1 characters could eventually be skipped over to make room for G2 (and possibly Beast Wars).

Ultra Magnus was a commander not a leader; so was Starscream. And Thundercracker and Skywarp had no particular status. I think it is quite possible that Soundwave could be made into a masterpiece given his iconic popularity. He was the communication commander too.

The Masterpiece line is pretty much based on how iconic and popular the characters are, not if they they are a "leader" or have a high military status within their faction. It's simply what Hasbro and Takara think they can sell.

The point is those characters hadn't received unique molds. The original molds were intended for commander/leader class characters. The other names given to the repaints were just a ,to quote you, "Profit-making byproduct".
I don't believe that they make original MP molds of characters by how popular or iconic they are. It is in my opinion, by their rank in their factions. Soundwave isn't a communications commander. He is just a communication officer.

It is true though. Repaint possibilities are a huge factor for HasTak when they are thinking about new molds.

Based on the fact that we've had Grimlock, King Grimlock, Black Prime and Sleep Prime with Rodimus Prime, Megatron reissue and then Prime reissue to come, I'd say next up is definitely going to be a Decepticon.

Soundwave would be a great choice but not until Galvatron has been done. With 2010 he HAS to be the next one, surely.

If we're still thinking about iconic characters that can also be repainted and retooled, I think Jazz or Prowl would be good choices. Either can be retooled into the other to save money and time, giving fans a wealth of potential repaints (Jazz, Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen and Ricochet all from one mold!) and casuals the chance to own an "adult" version of Jazz\Prowl.

Tracks is the only Transformer I want to become a Masterpiece figure. He's my favorite color blue. He has a flight mode too. He's almost like a triple changer. In flight mode he's just a car with wings, but it's still cool.

But, they must also consider if they really think the repaint can sell also. For example, movie Cliffjumper was a pretty hot seller depite being a complete repaint of Bumblebee. Movie Camshaft was not so lucky, who was a Swindle repaint, and hung around with Payload on the pegs for quite some time. Randomly, Camshaft was also packed with ROTF leader class toys during the holidays as a "bonus pack".
