In the case of just this Optimus, he is boring and bland, essentially being nothing more than a less-murderous copy of Movie Optimus, personality-wise.

Now, that isn't to say that this Optimus was always like this. He was a very interesting characterin the Exodus novel, where we saw him grow and develop from an aspiring young data clerk with big dreams into a compassionate leader with the weight of the world on his shoulders. In that book, he was engaging. In this show, however, he's just stoic and uninteresting.

Well, I just watched my first episode of Prime, and I'm watching my second now.

I'm not impressed.

I liked Animated better.

Which episode did you start with? And which one are you moving onto after that? Because it probably gets better.

Just because the show hasnt showed yet doesnt mean he is undeveloped,he show concerns for his Autobots,the humans and earth.
If he is the character from Exodus,War for Cybertron, that means he has a backstory.
He just need a episode focusing on him.
Everyone have a backstory.

And that's a problem. 18 episodes in and he still hasn't had his own spotlight episode. All the other Autobots have been given their fair share of focus to let themselves shine in the spotlight, and yet not Optimus? Why not?

Maybe saving it for a special occasion? Wouldn't you save the character with the most important backstory for a special occasion? That, and if and when they deal with it, they're probably going to have to finally reconcile Prime with WfC.

Actually, come to think of it, it would be pretty awesome to see flashbacks with WfC's designs and style.

Sorry to come here so early before Rock Bottom airs (My invisionment of the episode is now shattered now that they through Starscream in.) But I heard on TFW2005 about something with Optimus being a Con and Megatron being a Bot for the origin story. Also to the person who said "Who could hate Optimus Prime" I got a ten mile list of guys who do.

That's Shattered Glass. And if someone said it was the backstory for Prime, I'd take it with a grain of salt. Then I'd call them out for lying to everyone.

You're pretty late to the game with that one, I already posted it.

EDIT: Actually it's worth noting that in Shattered Glass, the Decepticon Insignia is red rather than the standard purple. In Prime, Starscream's Decepticon insignia is red. I mentioned this before, and it's always struck me as odd.

Yeah, the backstories for this show are the Exodus novel and War for Cybertron games, in which Optimus and Megatron were former best friends driven apart by differing paths and ideals.

EDIT: Well okay I screwed up. But for Rock Bottom I know it didn't air but already disappointed. I was expecting a stand alone filler with no bad guys and building to a possible relationship with Jack & Miko as well as character development with the two. But no we gotta throw in the 3rd character I hate so we can build up to that moronic premise for next week.

took a glimps of it a TFW2005. I maybe wrong about orgin but thats what I read. Megatron I can believe was a Bot thats fine Prime on the other hand as a Con is bulls%$t.

Can you quote what was said so that we too can take a look and figure this out together? Or link to it? ;;)

Dude, seriously, how about you watch the episode before you start whining about it? I know you're just going to complain about it for no reason after seeing it, but can you at least wait until it airs first?

And who's the third character you hate? It's not Starscream is it? Because this is probably one of the best Starscreams we've had in a while.

Hmm, I've got one possible theory on this. Perhaps one of the Autobots mentions to the kids how Optimus and Megatron were on the side before, and Jack and Miko ask these questions to get more info on the subject. Maybe the conversation goes something like:

Autobot: "Believe it or not, Optimus and Megatron once fought on the same side."
Jack: "Megatron was an Autobot?!"
Autobot: "Well, not exactly--"
Miko: "Optimus was a 'CON?!?!"
Autobot: NO! Just-- Let me explain!

I can picture Ratchet being the one trying to explain this.

I love this Starscream because I'm a big Steve Blum fan. It also helps to see just how much fun the guy has when performing this role, as evidenced by his performance during the BotCon 2011 script reading of "Shadowzone".
