It also comes from word that Takara is making a Prime Smokescreen toy.Bubbah wrote:Scourgescream wrote:I've clearly missed something somewhere. Where has all this talk of Smokescreen come from?
It's just speculation at the moment. The Hub aired a promo that included previous scenes from earlier in the season along with some new ones. One of the new ones is of the new Autobot (quick glimpse, but a still shot taken of the promo shows off some detail that has most fans thinking Smokescreen). Luckily we find out this Friday!

Yup ... New episodes are on Friday now (8est/5pst). They've already aired 2 for the second half of season 2 in that new time slot. This will make #3.
Rodimus2006 wrote:You have to remember many other shows had Toy Line Characters but they never made onto the show such as Animated, Armada and others.
Just cause they have a toyline based on the Show such as Ultrmagnus or Skywarp or others dosent necessarily mean they will show on Prime.

Sabrblade wrote:Yeah, and thing about this new character being Smokescreen just adds up so well when you consdier the following:
- It's an Autobot rally car
- It's colored blue, white, and red
- It's wearing a number 38
- It seems to have a Prowl-esque head, but isn't a police car
- It's got door wings
- And the fact that Takara's making a Prime Smokescreen toy is the icing on the cake.

Well, it could be a similar case to Prime Shockwave, in which Takara's using an existing mold instead of creating a new one despite the animation model looking different. The hasbro market might get an all new Shockwave later on, and probably Smaokscreen too if it does turn out to be him.BeastProwl wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yeah, and thing about this new character being Smokescreen just adds up so well when you consdier the following:

But then the mold they are using just throws me off!
I do hope that was just a stand in.

Well, Prime Skyquake still had G1 Skyquake's main shtick of being a "large green jet Decepticon".Rodimus2006 wrote:This 38 deal could be an all new character someone new have you ever thought of that such as SkyQuake was a new deal maybe this 38 deal is also a new deal.

If you know anything about Prime that has thrown a 360 curveball meaning everything new and diffrent such as The Key To Vector Sigma.

The portrayals are new, but the characters are not. And if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's 90% likely that it's a duck. Nobody's saying it's for sure Smokescreen without a shadow of a doubt, but we're pretty sure.

^this! I'm not saying for sure, but until it airs, I'm referring to him as Smokescreen because it's easier than saying "the new Autobot recruit" everytime haha. If it's not, and the 38 is just an homage, I'm ok with that. If it is him, that's kinda cool ... When was the last time he showed up in a show? Was he in A/E/C? It's been a while since I've watched that series.

There's also been Cybertron Smokescreen and Movie Smokescreen, both of whom were only in comic and prose story fiction instead of the cartoons/movies.Bubbah wrote:YRQRM0 wrote:He was in Armada as an orange tow truck, and was later reformatted into Hoist, a construction vehicle. That's right! Thanks ... If this turns out to be him, it'll be nice to see him back as a sports car.

Yeah, for some reason, all the episodes that aired on Kids WB had Crosswise named "Smokescreen", which were all redubbed when they reran on Cartoon Network.PrymeStriker wrote:Sabrblade wrote:There's also been Cybertron Smokescreen and Movie Smokescreen, both of whom were only in comic and prose story fiction instead of the cartoons/movies.Bubbah wrote:YRQRM0 wrote:He was in Armada as an orange tow truck, and was later reformatted into Hoist, a construction vehicle. And Crosswise was once named Smokescreen in the original air of his premier episode. I remember that episode clearly.

A similar thing happened in an early episode of Cybertron in which some of Thundercracker's dialogue was spoken in Starscream's voice. They fixed this later by redubbing it, but whoops.
BeastProwl wrote:That was the point. Almost everyone on TF Cybertron had a weird accent.
