*(A lame name incidentally that is trying to smarta*s* about the original Skywalker character name - but actually just succeeds in annoying Star Wars Videogame fans who are annoyed that they throw Force Unleashed out with the rest of the EU only to replace it with so far a Cartoon that many people only watch out a sense of obligation and a Novel best described as "Plodding").
Grand Admiral Thrawn died for George Lucas' sins - or something like that.
P.s.
Sorry if I'm being a Debbie Downer - flip flopper again. it comes and goes.

Well I mean, Disneys keeping a tight lid on things, but it's speculated at least one member of the new cast is a skywalker. For example there's the speculation:
Kylo Renn and Rey, are brother and sister, with Leia and Han being their Parents.
Finn is Leia and lando's son
Kylo Renn is Lukes estranged son
Rey is Lukes estranged Daughter
General Hux, is Lukes estranged son.

First off, we don't use the M-word around here.
Second, that never stopped Anakin from having kids.

Well they have admitted there are some things about Rey and Kylo Ren that are being kept secret until the movie. I get the feeling they will end up being siblings and children of Han and Leia. I don't think Rey's presence on Jakku is a coincidence if the Millenium Falcon ended up there without Han and Chewbacca and Rey being the one to fix it up. But we'll see. I'm willing to bet there is at least on Skywalker or Solo offspring in existence.

I'm not bothered about the minor stuff like "Starkiller base".
I wonder how many WTF moments this Movie will have - for example why is there a duplicate of Jabba's Palace entrance gate and Market on a Planet that isn't Tattoine ?
I would want some reference somewhere to say it at least used to be owned by the same species or something to explain the similarity.
I know they just stuck it in there as the production has a bit to much love for Ralph McQuarrie designs (even to the extent of putting them in the wrong places - just to use them). But to me that does feel pretty out of place.
There is little things I'm curious about like does the Movie only use X-Wings or will it have something else stuck in the background somewhere ship wise.
As all I've seen so far is a New Order capital ship, a few Ties, a shuttle, and an X-Wing in terms of "The Military"
Does the Micromachine line or such spoil others ? I'm just mildly curious what the "Good guys" capital ships might look like or if they plan to throw in a updated B-wing in there or something like that.

I always just kinda assumed that those systems just degraded over like 30 years. Probably didn't help when he got shot during the trench run in episode 4.

I got the impression in an Atmosphere they can do little more than a powered shallow glide-fall path as they need a constant thrust to travel where as in space they can puffer jet.
The other obvious reason for them being able to have very limited flight ability is to be able to get out of a droid socket in a trick situations - in a way being able to fly is like their ejector seat function for use in emergencies and special situations.
Also bare this in mind the way Artoo was able to motivate under water in Empire strikes back is likely down to him using a swim sub-function related to his flight abilities.
I still think it's likely that his flight was harmed in some way perhaps due to Anakin upgrading him to take more than the usual number of memory chips or damage he got in one of the many battle he fought in.
But it can't be ruled out that he could always fly he just didn't have a reason to do so when his companion can only walk.
Take a Y-Wing & an X-wing as an example those are not easy things for an Astromech droid to get down from - they don't have belly Droid feeder ports like a Naboo Starfighter has.
Also they are usually called an ASTRO (Space) MECH (Mechanic or Mechanical) DROID (Android).
So if the inference is that they both navigate and repair something Artoo is shown doing more than twice and something 'Chopper' also does repeatedly. Then a bit of added Mobility wouldn't hurt - if Artoo was to assist repairing the Falcon for example he might need his jets a little even if only to drop to the ground safely from the top if he needed to do so.
Also they have retconned Artoo's flight boosters back into his body in the sequence in ROTJ when all his arms pop out - now his jets do too.

Ok, thanks, very insightful, but....do you think R2 will be flying in the up n coming trilogy? Although I dunno how much or little he'll be in it since he'll probably be upstaged by BB8 & BB8 may receive far more screentime than R2!(yes I know....it's idle conjecture at this point! until we see the film).

Really? For me it was the opposite. After seeing it, I was just "Meh." The only part that made me smile was Han's speech about the stories being true. Where the hell is Luke, anyway? He's not in the trailer (I'm assuming it was him under the cloak with R2) and he's not on the movie's official poster either. Why?Burn wrote:I FINALLY got goosebumps.

I've been like that up until today. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT getting my hopes up. I'm working on being pleasantly surprised.
But seeing all those Ties and X-Wings ... yeah, I liked that.

I remember when he did appear, someone behind me gasped in shock and happy surprise and started getting excited. I imagine they're going for the same effect with Luke. But showing Han and Leia helps tie over the original trilogy rabidness for a couple of months.

Same here. And I'm with Burn: seeing those X-Wings and TIE Fighters...so many memories. Much feels. The music sounded pretty freaking epic, too. I have decided we're seeing this for our annual Christmas movie. I actually just bought our tickets. Merry Christmas to me!

I wasn't all that impressed either, until I woke up this morning and watched it again. Then, it hit me.
